In and Out in a Day

Nancy, that's great you're going to finish your degree! Good luck!

Vickie,

Kathy, I can't believe he is a senior!

Ellen, it sounds like you had a good weekend. I wrote out a post to your comments about Wheat Belly but I forgot to post them? I am back on gluten to get medical tests done and I am feeling rather lousy. The test is on the 29th. I am hoping it all goes according to plan.

Welcome home, Glynis! You looked like you were having a great time! I am looking forward to hearing about it. I can't believe Alan was working 13-22 hour days. That is insane. I am exhausted at the end of 8 hour days.

Let's see...you want mundane details. :scratchin

I woke up at 6:15. I left at 7:00. The Today Show intro "du du du duhhhh duh duuuuh duuhhhh duuuh" music is my cue to exit stage left.

Work was uneventful, but this is a good thing. Too many curve balls in the day can drive a person batty. Even with an uneventful day, for some reason at 3:30 I had no idea what day it was. A friend informed me it was Monday. How I forgot this is a mystery. :confused3

After school I took the dog to the vet. She went a few weeks ago because her skin was all itchy and she had patches of fur falling out. They said it's possible she has a food intolerance and needs some unique food. One suggestion was kangaroo. Seriously, this is getting to be one expensive free dog. Really, what mutt gets food imported from Australia? Braised kangaroo with a side of wallaby. She also needed some vaccinations and antibiotics at that visit, which ended up at $200+. :headache: The nice thing about this vet is follow up visits are only $22. The funny thing is that the antibiotics she got were the SAME ONES that I had gotten a few months back. Fortunately, it looks like they worked and we can keep getting Purina at Walmart. :upsidedow

The other night I had a dream I went back to work at my old school in New York. I was very upset and crying that I wanted to go back to New Orleans because all my friends had left that school, and nobody even knew where to find two of them. :confused3 I'm not sure how it ended; the thunder woke me up before I had any conclusion in the dream (nightmare).

Vickie - I'm so heartbroken for C! I'm glad that he's in therapy and hopefully that will help! It's not good to keep all that bottled up, so hopefully, he'll really start doing better.

Nancy - Good for you on going back to school! What a great thing you are doing for yourself!

Kathy - SENIOR YEAR!!!!????!!!! How did that happen? Wasn't it just yesterday that he started college??? I don't know how you handle it!

Ellen - Sounds like you had a dream weekend! As for 2 weeks by yourself at the workplace... that sounds like heaven to me.

Bethany - Thanks for the details! I love them!! Sorry your dog has been unwell. That is awful! Glad you don't have to import kangaroo for him, though! That would probably be where Alan would draw the line!

First day of school for everyone here. Katie left about an hour ago, all shaky and nervous. The school is so big, she's afraid of losing her way. She's armed with a map and all her classes circled, so I'm hoping she'll be ok. Jacob has his first day with all the 8th and 9th graders as well. I think he'll be ok. He had a great time yesterday. He found all his classes, and mastered opening his locker, so he feels pretty good about it. The twins are excited for 5th grade! They got the teacher we wanted, so we are all happy about that!

The only sour note is Timmy. The two of us were going to go to a movie this morning, so we could get back to just being the two of us. However, he started complaining of a tummy ache at midnight, and then began throwing up around 3:00. He's stopped that, and is now asleep, so I'm hoping he'll wake up feeling better. I do think that the movie is out, so we'll just have a snuggle on the couch day today.

Dinner tonight will be pasta with meatballs, salad and garlic bread.

Have a great day, ladies! Glad to see you all posting again!!!

Kyle started his senior year of college today, time has passed so quickly. Bbl….

WOW!! I so agree. I can't believe how time flies. How is Kyle feeling?

Ellen- WHat a nice weekend! Lilibug :cloud9:... Love that- I called Kady my Kadybug for years. Still do, actually :goodvibes ENjoy your quiet time, it does not come often!!!!!!!!

Kat- where did the time go?????? Enior year???????????????

I am going to finish my Business Administration degree. Then I need three more classes and will also have one in accounting. The accounting classes are hard for me so Marisa will help me. I hate math!!!

I am so proud of you!!

Ellen, it sounds like you had a good weekend. I wrote out a post to your comments about Wheat Belly but I forgot to post them? I am back on gluten to get medical tests done and I am feeling rather lousy. The test is on the 29th. I am hoping it all goes according to plan.

Bethany ~ first off - you have no idea how excited I am to be able to talk to you again. I really missed you. And your dreams!!

I so agree Dogs can be expensive but oh so worth it. They truly are our best friends. Thank God she doesn't have to have kangaroo.

Wheat Belly was a good read. I agree with a LOT of it. But where neither Doug or I are seliatic (SP) I found it was very hard to follow. But we have drastically cut our wheat comsumption way down. And do notice a difference.

Glynis ~ Oh you are going to have a quiet house. I sure hope Timmy is feeling better when he wakes up.
I can't wait to hear how the kids day was.
Talk about a shock ~ the twins are in the 5th grade ~ How did that happen!!?? WOW

I am so enjoying this cooler weather. Last night Elizabeth and the boys and I went for a long walk. Ended up at the park and we played for a bit. It was a beautiful night.

Make it a great day.

Bethany – Seriously…kangaroo???? I’ve never heard of that one! Our furbabies can be very expensive but so worth it.:goodvibes

Glynis – I hope Timmy is feeling better and the kids all had a good day at school!

Ellen – Kyle is doing great! He was actually excited for this semester to begin and I thank God for baseball, that is his true love. It’s all he thinks about 24/7! Thanks for asking.

Bethany - Thanks for the details! I love them!! Sorry your dog has been unwell. That is awful! Glad you don't have to import kangaroo for him, though! That would probably be where Alan would draw the line!

You're welcome! Mundane details of today.....in some weird twist in scheduling a duy for today and tomorrow, I was the only one in my building scheduled for tomorrow. We are referring to ourselves as "The Villas" this year instead of "The Trailer Park". It has a nice ring to it. :rotfl:

I got a good bit of stuff done today in the quiet. Tomorrow I am on duty. I am supposed to stand in the hall and direct traffic. Reminds me a bit of Madagascar...."Smile and wave, boys, smile and wave...." I have been assigned Hall Duty with this lady who has a dry wit that is downright hysterical. We will try to be on our best behavior. :scratchin I was assigned a station with her and another lady last year and it was a riot. I think we were in near tears with laughter.

I'm excited because I got an email that there is clearance on PDF ebooks that are teacher resource books. $1 each. SCORE!! I got 11 and have some others on my "wish list" that I'll decide about tomorrow. There were two that looked really good but they were sold out. That's probably why they were sold out.

Apparently the vet sells all sorts of specialty dog food. I am not sure how much it costs. I'm sure it's more than the dry food at Walmart. She seems fine lately. Every night at dusk she goes out into the backyard on some sort of adventure to catch bugs.

Sorry Timmy is not well. How was the first day for the rest of your kids?

Bethany ~ first off - you have no idea how excited I am to be able to talk to you again. I really missed you. And your dreams!!

I so agree Dogs can be expensive but oh so worth it. They truly are our best friends. Thank God she doesn't have to have kangaroo.

Awwww, <trying to insert hug icon here but the DIS has moved it again> I've missed this group too! My dreams keep me entertained. For FREE even!!

Anabelle is worth it. She is very protective and she is sweet. And she wakes me up at 5:30 asking for breakfast. :lmao: She achieves this by standing on me as if she has climbed a mountain and my stomach is the summit. I have to tell her to "Stop conquering me! Get down!"

It's the weirdest thing...my symptoms change daily and come and go. I'm assuming they are all related, but it's all so strange.

Bethany – Seriously…kangaroo???? I’ve never heard of that one! Our furbabies can be very expensive but so worth it.:goodvibes

The vet said kangaroo! I had never heard of that either. Fortunately she doesn't appear to need it at this time. She is worth it, though. :goodvibes

The kids all had good first days, thank heavens! Katie wasn't as enthusiastic as I would have liked, but when I looked at her schedule, I saw that she had Algebra 2, Honors English, Biology and Religion. Kind of a heavy day for her. Today was much lighter Drama 3, Honors History, Drawing 1 and French 2. She seemed much more optimistic about things today.

Jacob is just thrilled that he seems to have mastered opening his locker! As long as he's happy, I'm happy!!!

Timmy and I went to see "The Lorax" this morning. It was a pretty cute movie. Alan was against seeing it, since it's a "message" movie, but Timmy and I liked it! Of course it's a message movie; it was a "message" book, as well. No way around that. Still the animation was done quite well, and the songs were good, too! I can see us owning it!

Dinner is going to be nice and easy tonight! Taco salad. We have tomatoes coming out our ears, so we'll use some up there. Avocados were on a good sale, so I picked up a couple of those for my kids who like them. Should be a nice, complaint free meal!

AAAARRRGGGHHHH !!!!!

I just wrote a massive post and when I tried to submite it logged me out !!!

I have an early rise for the boys first day at high school tomorrow so I dont have time to rewrite.

I will try and get " IN " tomorrow.

Have a good night lassies...." OUT "

Howdy, ladies! My internet has been down most of yesterday and today. Finally back on! Alan called the company and they did a check and found that our internet has been off more than on for the last couple of months. They are going to discount our monthly payment to make up for it! Good! I hate paying for it when I can't use it!

Things here are going well. Alan's school started, and he is really happy! One of his classes got cancelled due to the instructor having major heart surgery. However, Alan got an email from the teacher, asking him to meet with him yesterday. When they met, the teacher told Alan that instead of teaching the whole class, he'll meet with Alan once a week for a couple of hours of one on one, and he'll get the class credit he'll need! This is fantastic!!! He'll get such good instruction and help with his thesis project! He's just thrilled!!

Dinner tonight will be Hawaiian Haystacks. Very easy, and everyone can add what they like. No complaints, I hope!

Last to post yesterday, and first to post today! Does this mean I'm talking to myself???? Hello??? Where is everyone???

Bowling starts this morning, and I'm excited!!! I love my league ladies!!! Can't wait to get all caught up this morning! Timmy's excited, too! It's the only day of the week that mom allows french fries for breakfast!

This afternoon, we're taking an impromptu trip to my dad's house to fill him in on our London trip. Alan and Jacob will also see "Titus Andronicus" one of Shakespeare's lesser known and little produced plays! They are excited, because it's also one of the bloodiest plays! Should be fun! We will head back tomorrow afternoon. We have to leave Katie here, as she is auditioning for the Shakespeare Competition team this afternoon. If you have any good thoughts or pixie dust to spare, she could use it! She's really nervous! Thanks!

Dinner tonight will either be something in the car, or something at my dad's house when we get there. Should be interesting!

By the way, Alan has a few pics on his iPhone of some of the actual Olympic events that he covered. I've debated whether or not to put them up on facebook. Any interest???

Hi Glynis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am here! i was glad to hear that the kids had a good first day! I don't blame Katie, that schedule is
I am enjoying all of your pics!

Vickie- How was the first day? I don't mean for The Boy...............I mean for you? :lmao:;)

Today I have the hand Dr. i have been putting it off for years but now things keep falling out of my hands. No putting this off now!

I started Fall cleaning, I know it is not going to get done once school starts. I need to pick up paint today after the Dr. Buddy hates everything I picked out so far, my walls look like a patchwork quilt. I am going back t my apricot, just a bit darker. His cousin is coming over tomorrow to help me....I am a lousy painter!

We have kady tonight.

talk to you all later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Glynis – You aren’t alone, lol!!! Wow, that is one tough schedule Katie has. You must be so proud of her, she is such a great student! Same for Alan, that is awesome! I would love to see Alan’s pics of the event, please post!!!

Vickie – I hope Matty had a great first day!

I can’t wait for this month to end, it has been one thing after another breaking or needing repairs. All while I’m trying to save up some $$$ for our Food and Wine trip. :sad1:…. Bbl…….

Well, our plans changed! Alan got sent in the tv station's helicopter to cover some flash flooding, and won't get back until it's too late to leave for dad's house. Since we were only doing a quick trip, he decided to rearrange his schedule for Labor Day weekend so we can have more time with dad. So, no trip this weekend, but we will be gone next weekend!

That means I need to figure out dinner. Hmmm. No leftovers, so that's out. Maybe it will be pizza night. Not sure.

I'll put up Alan's pictures as soon as I can download them from his iPhone.

That schedule is quite heavy! Does she have alternating day block? That's what I had in high school and it takes some getting used to but I think it's good overall.

Mastering the combination lock is a rite of passage!

AAAARRRGGGHHHH !!!!!

I just wrote a massive post and when I tried to submite it logged me out !!!

I have an early rise for the boys first day at high school tomorrow so I dont have time to rewrite.

I try to remember to right click and "copy" my post before hitting submit. Then hopefully I still have it to "paste" if it doesn't submit. I forget sometimes though.

How was his first day? How'd you handle it?

I am glad the internet company is making it right.

That sounds like a great situation for Alan....not so much for the instructor. I hope the surgery and recovery went/go well for him.

That's how I feel when my post is the last one on the page, like my last post.

How was bowling? And how was Katie's audition?

Those photos sound interesting!

Nancy! How was the doctor?

:sad2: Picking paint colors is way too complicated. Good luck.

I can’t wait for this month to end, it has been one thing after another breaking or needing repairs. All while I’m trying to save up some $$$ for our Food and Wine trip. :sad1:…. Bbl…….

 Months like that are so frustrating.

I hope the flash flooding isn't devastating. Bummer on the trip postponement; I'm glad you're able to next weekend at least.

I ended up teaching 5th grade yesterday and today. I wasn't expecting to like the age much, but I ended up enjoying it. I was covering for somebody just for these two days. Next week I have a lot of paperwork to do, but I should have time to do it. I was doing coverage for three full days in a row; my own work is a little backlogged now, but it should get done.

Well, Bethany, since it seems like you and I are carrying on the conversation here for a while...

The kids in our district are on an A/B schedule. Since it's the same schedule she had in Middle School, she's pretty used to it. Luckily, all her classes (except one) are grouped at one end of the school. Unluckily, it's the opposite end of the school from her locker! Oh well. Can't win them all!

Katie says her audition went well. She had an upperclassmen tell her that he really liked what she did, so that stroked her ego. We should find out today or tomorrow whether she made the team, or not. Still crossing our fingers.

Today was applesauce day here. Our little trees really produced for us this year, and by the end of the day, we have 21 quarts of applesauce all bottled and cooling on my counter. This was the first time Alan and I have had the kids help with the canning process, and it was interesting, to say the least. It's good for them to know how to do it, so kitchen mess notwithstanding, they'll be helping again in a couple of weeks when we do grape juice and jelly.

I haven't had time to do anything with Alan's pictures left. Maybe I'll leave that for tomorrow, when we are all just relaxing. Right now, I have to decide on dinner. I'm thinking something easy like Jimmy John's or something!

There were 3 high schools in my district and each one was on a different schedule. :confused3

We used alternating day block, so we got 8 0.5 credits in a semester - a semester's credit in a semester and a year's credit in a year. We could get 32 credits by graduation!

Another used daily block, so they only had 4 classes a semester, but they got 4 1.0 credits a semester. They could get a semester's credit in a quarter and a year's credit in a semester. I think if I had a prerequisite in the first semester of one year and then the subsequent class the 2nd semester of the following year, it'd be really hard to get back in the groove of things.

The third school had 5 classes a day and they got a semester's credit in a trimester. I think they could take a year's class in two trimesters. That one always confused me a bit.

I've never canned. We tried to grow vegetables in a garden this year. We managed to get a few cucumbers and that was it. :rolleyes2

So Isaac....some people on my FB are posting they are packing and another has booked a hotel out of town. Other people are just saying it's not coming here. Depends on what website you look at where it's going, apparently. :headache:

Hey y'all, looks like we're getting a hurricane. I've booked a room in case we need to evacuate. I HATE hurricane season.:sad2:

Hey y'all, looks like we're getting a hurricane. I've booked a room in case we need to evacuate. I HATE hurricane season.:sad2:

I saw that on the news. I hope you are all ok! At least you're prepared. Hopefully, you won't need it! You are all in my prayers!

Thank you. I have a hotel booked also, in the same town Kat's booked in. I also have supplies to shelter in place.

Today I need to do laundry, clean up the house and yard, and visit the ATM and pharmacy. I've already filled up the car's gas tank and visited Walmart. I also want to make a pile of things to take in the event of an evacuation.

This really is not how I had planned to spend my weekend, but I'd rather have the peace of mind of being prepared.

I'm glad you are prepared, and I'll pray that you don't have to evacuate! So scary!!!

Dinner today is pork roast, homemade applesauce, sticky rice and green beans. Maybe something for dessert, after a nap, of course.

Hey y'all, looks like we're getting a hurricane. I've booked a room in case we need to evacuate. I HATE hurricane season.:sad2:

My prayers are with all of my Nola friends, Kat, Bethany and Sheryl. Please take care!! And let us know ya'll are ok, when you can.

Glynis ~ I so know the feeling. There have been numerous days that I am the only one who posts in here. But I am determined to NOT let this thread die.
I am so glad that the first days of school went ok.

Nan ~ I really need to deep/fall clean, but it probably won't happen. I just hate feeling so behind all of the time. I love my job, but I so miss being home and getting things done.

Vic ~ How are you doing? I have so thought of you these last few days.

We had a fun weekend. We all went to the State Fair. Matthew even met us. We had a ball. We were there till 9:00 last night. Stephanie bought fried oreos. I tried them and I hate to admit it - but those babies were delicious!!!

My last week without a Pastor. So hopefully a quiet week. I tried to get so much done last week but it just didn't happen. It seemed everyone - I mean EVERYONE decided I needed someone to talk to as my office was packed everyday with people.

Doug has his tournment playoff tonight, for 1st and 2nd. I am so excited, he is a bit nervous. There are 8 teams that get in and they were #8, just squeeked in and now they are going for the big prize. I so hope they win, but even so I am so proud of the guys.

Make it a great day.
