VERO BEACH Information & Adoration Thread

I would fly into Orlando, rent a car for Vero and then give up the car for WDW. Yes, I think you would need a car for Vero. There’s not that much in the immediate area.
Yep, that’s what I was thinking, thanks!!

You could also fly into vero beach regional airport on American or JetBlue, rent a car, and then fly back from Orlando. But, I would probably just do MCO both times…
I’ll have to see what my options are flying into VB, but probably more hassle than it’s worth (multiple stops, etc), & if I’m going to rent a car anyway probably better off just driving, but won’t hurt to check. :-)

We have never been to VB. We are DVC members and thinking of a quick trip just to check it out in July although being this late there probably is not availabilty. What would be the chances on a waitlist? What would be the best recommendation for a direct ocean view. There used to be a site to view all room/resorts but I cannot remember what that is. There would be 2 adults, 2 children and 1 grandma (which might need her space at the end of the day) lol So thinking of a 1 BR or possibly 2 BR lockoff? What do I book on the DVC site to get these rooms with ocean view? Is there anywhere to view their daily activities for kids? Also looking for menu's and dining options on-site. We will have a car because probably would fly into Sanford and drive there. Any info is appreciated. Thank you

The best recommendation would be the inn rooms with a guaranteed ocean view or the beach cottages...

I think if you had a room on the upper floors of the villa buildings you might get to see some ocean, but certainly nothing on the first floor... Even then, you would probably need the ones on the eastern wall.

The daily activities are limited, but fun. Typically there is a free craft every day, a trivia game on the pool deck, a mini-golf course that surrounds the pool, bike rentals (I think they might be at no cost?), there often is a premium craft similar to the types of things that they do at BLT Community Hall.

Menu and Dining Options can be found on the Vero Beach disney website verobeach.disney.go.com is the link I believe...

I think a 2 BR would be fine, 2 BR lockoff would be better in some ways, but a regular 2 BR should be fine for Grandma.

The rooms are big - and similar in style to the OKW rooms, so they are spacious. You'll have a sleeper chair and a Murphy bed (2 sleeping surfaces) in the living room, but a king bed in the master, so a 1 BR might be cramped for your party, especially depending on the ages of the kids, and grandma's comfort with them.

We've only been to VB once, and I booked an Ocean View Inn Room to guarantee an ocean view. I don't know whether any of the 1- or 2BR villas or the cottages have ocean views, and unfortunately the Inn Rooms have just 2 queen beds and only sleep 4 people.

We are wait listed for labor day weekend ocean view. Also we have been getting all our wait list on the 30 day mark. People change or cancel at that point, I think.
Good Luck

I think if they do, it will just be slivers of ocean view, nothing full on. Only the grand villa - free standing units are directly overlooking the beach.

Here is a sliver. We were on the second floor perhaps those on the third floor had a bigger sliver :)

The beach cottages certainly have an unobstructed view but most of the villa's will have to struggle to see over the foliage that is used to protect the turtles from seeing much of the light coming from the resort area.

I do not have a photo that I can upload. But years ago we had a Lock-off 2 bedroom that was in the last building heading south. Our balcony had an partial ocean view.

It was right next to the beautiful private homes.

Since then we have only booked a couple of oceanfront rooms in the main building. Those have beautiful views.

Hi I saw a post above, but haven't seen the answer about the tour de turtles this year at the resort. Anyone know the date yet? thanks!

Unannounced pool and gym closures currently whilst they work on the slide (and close the whole pool) and gym also closed off. This was never announced on ‘external refurbishments’ and no forwarning day before either. Now two mornings pool closed off- not happy and very badly managed. No reason to close whole pool off as far as I can see for working on pool slide.

First trip in 9 days, this is a bummer. Assuming there's been no notice as to how long the pool is down?

They are just closing it randomly. They are working on the slide but that has a fence around it so it isn’t clear why they are closing the full pool because of it.
They’ve also closed all the area in front of the gym etc denying access.
None of this was on Disney’s website- they should have warned pool closures could and would happen and gym and other building access would not be possible.
To make matters worse there’s no announcements the day before or anything, you just turn up at the pool and can’t get in.
Incredibly poor management and communication all around.

Ugh. I don't like hearing this. Have 4 nights scheduled there in just under 4 weeks. Sounds like no information as to how long this might take.

They are taking the roof off the pool slide. They have had the slide cordoned off with fencing since we arrived 4 days ago. No problem we are not bothered about the slide as we don’t have the kids with us. But what they are then doing is closing the entire pool periodically, it’s been closed all morning, whilst they work on the slide. No idea why that is necessary. Then because they are working on the roof above the gym they closed the gym also this morning.
Pool was also closed until lunchtime the other day for same reason.
There’s no notice, no signs nothing, you just can’t get in, and when you go to ask they say it’s due to work on the pool slide. No apology nothing, the attitude and lack of information sucks. We likely would not have booked of we had been warned the pool could be closed, and this is a major fail by DVC and management at this resort.
I can’t imagine the pool slide roof will take that long so hopefully this situation will soon stop. But DVC should have warned this was a possibility.
We have now had to leave the resort and go for walks on Ocean drive etc twice because pool is closed. We have just returned now and are hoping it will be open this afternoon, but with no notices etc who knows. Totally unacceptable. We fully appreciate resorts have to be maintained but lack of information and communication isn’t good management.

They refurbished the gym in 2024. Put all new equipment in there. Wonder what they're doing to it now.
Yes it’s not in the gym it’s the roof.
Although we noticed one treadmill has been broken and unplugged since we arrived- they should be repairing machines quickly as one treadmill isn’t enough for the entire resort. Our gym back home has machines repaired within 24 hours. We noticed at WDW treadmills were also broken for 5 days we were there.

Pool now back open there’s guys throwing tiles off the roof above Ebb and Flow so towels are given out where pool table is. At least it’s open.
