In and Out in a Day

Good afternoon, everyone!

I'm crossing my fingers for all you NOLA gals!

Good news here: Katie made the Shakespeare team!!! She is part of an ensemble scene! She's thrilled, and so am I! It should be an interesting 2 months, until the competition.

Dinner tonight, at the kids' request, will be breakfast! Yup. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, etc. The whole thing. Not my favorite, but easy and something they'll all eat.

My prayers are with all of my Nola friends, Kat, Bethany and Sheryl. Please take care!! And let us know ya'll are ok, when you can.

We had a fun weekend. We all went to the State Fair. Matthew even met us. We had a ball. We were there till 9:00 last night. Stephanie bought fried oreos. I tried them and I hate to admit it - but those babies were delicious!!!

My last week without a Pastor. So hopefully a quiet week. I tried to get so much done last week but it just didn't happen. It seemed everyone - I mean EVERYONE decided I needed someone to talk to as my office was packed everyday with people.

Doug has his tournment playoff tonight, for 1st and 2nd. I am so excited, he is a bit nervous. There are 8 teams that get in and they were #8, just squeeked in and now they are going for the big prize. I so hope they win, but even so I am so proud of the guys.

Make it a great day.

Thank you. We've decided to stay here since it didn't intensify as much as they thought so early. They're thinking it will get up to a 1 and maybe a 2 but I just don't know. It's past the point of no return in the decision, so here we are. I think it will be okay. Some parts of the state are under mandatory evacuation orders, but my parish is not.

The fair sounds like fun. People do that at my work too; I'm guilty of it myself sometimes! Good job for Doug! They must have surprised a lot of people to be seeded #8 and get to the championship game!

Yay for Katie! :cheer2:

I'll check back in when I can. :grouphug: It's supposed to start getting ugly around midday tomorrow I think, but make landfall overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. Wednesday is the 7th anniversary of Katrina.

Hi ladies. Hope you don't mind my peeking in, but I'm an old NOLA/WFD poster.

I know some of my NOLA buds still drop by on occasion, and since I don't Facebook (I know....I know...), I figured this would be the best way to let them know I'm thinking about them.

We're prepared best as we can here, and I'm hoping those girls are as well. I know y'all are a wonderful support group, so please pass along my prayers and thoughts if you don't mind.

I know some of you could use some of the rain we're scheduled to receive, and I wish I could share it!

Stay safe everybody!

Bethany - Stay Safe!!! That's an order, young lady!!!

The same goes for the rest of you NOLA gals!

We had some unexpected news yesterday morning. Alan has a sister, Marci, who is physically and mentally handicapped. She has the mental capacity of a 12 year old. 17 years ago, she married a man who was also mentally handicapped. They've been really happy together. Unfortunately, he had a massive heart attack yesterday morning, and passed away. So, we are dealing with making funeral arrangements, and trying to help Marci understand what has happened, and what she needs to do. Luckily, Alan's mother bought cemetery plots for both Marci and her husband when Alan's dad passed away, so that's one thing that's taken care of. I'll be in and out until the funeral on Thursday, so I hope no one thinks I'm ignoring y'all!

Prayers are still going out that the hurricane chooses another path. I'm also praying for our friend Lauri D. What a tragic loss!

Dinner tonight will be soup and sandwiches.

Hi ladies. Hope you don't mind my peeking in, but I'm an old NOLA/WFD poster.

!

I am so glad you peeked in. I tried to see if the old NOLA thread was active so I could pop by. I know that the weather guys say this is a CAT 1 but I worry about the rain more than the wind. You all are so low that the water is not good. Please know that I am praying for a quick end to theis storm. Stay safe!

Bethany- Yes, you there! Please stay safe!

Glynis- So glad to hear that Katie made the SHakespeare team. Not surprise though when I think about her Grandpa and her Mom :cheer2:

I am heading back to clean, I had a Dr appt this mornig so a late start for me. I am going to keep checkin in, I just feel worried

:wave2: Hi, Cajunmommy! Thanks for popping in! You should stick around and keep posting. :flower3:

Glynis, I am sorry to hear about the loss in your family. It sounds like she has a great support system.

My heart aches for Lauri. :sad1:  I have no words, but I do hope she knows that we are all hurting for her, praying for her, and that she is loved. :grouphug:

Nancy...we took the NOLA thread to a group on FB. You're right about the rain; we've had more than our fair share this year (we TOTALLY would share if we could!) and our ground is saturated already. We should be okay, though. The pumps can handle 1" of rain the first hour and .5" of rain each hour following. I know they are concerned about surge in the coastal/low areas.

Good morning - I am in with a very heavy heart this morning.

Glynis ~ I am so sorry for your loss. It is never easy.
Yea for Katie. I never had my doubts that she wouldn't make the team. They should be honored to have her on the team.

Bethany ~ please stay safe and let us know how you are when you can.

Kat, Sheryl, cajunmommy and all my NOLA and Gulf friends ~ Please be safe and know that the whole country is praying for you.

Nan ~ thanks so much for your PM. You are so right I really do need to keep up better. ;)

Lauri ~ my heart is just breaking for you and your family. My prayers are with you. I know that doesn't sound like much but I so hope you can feel us all holding you so very very close. {{hugs}}

I am on my way to a Dr. appt. I will try to check back in later. Love to you all!!

Make it a great day ~ you never know when it might be your last.

Had to pop in before the funeral this morning, to see what the status is on our NOLA gals. Anyone have any word??

I'll check back in later.

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well, especially those in NOLA. Been thinking of you all.

I only just noticed this thread and thought I'd come in here to say hello. I miss you all chattering on the WFDT thread.

If it's okay with you, can I come hang out here from time to time as well? I loved finding out about how things were going with your lives...

Good morning all! Long time no see.

Things have been crazy here. No real clue where my time goes.

I just want to express my sorrow to Glynis for your Families loss. I hope your SIL can handle this well. How is she doing?

Lauri you are in my heart and prayers. I wish I could take some of the pain for you.

MR A has had some schedule issues with school but all is well now. I still have not a clue why he chose such a hard schedule for his final year. He is going soon to do the college tour.:faint: Where did my baby go. It is exciting I can only hope I do well when it is time to move him into the dorm. I think his dad may have a harder time but we will see.

I miss talking with you guys. I will try harder to get on the DIS for a few minutes each day.

I'm okay. Heat index is 105 and power is out.

As far as I know, all the NOLA girls from the thread are okay, but communication is spotty.

Glynis- I don't know if I missed it but I have been worried about the kids. How are doing through this? So hard for an adult to comprehend but a kid? And how are you?

I am not sure where my day goes either. I think my time management stinks!

Alex is one motivated young man! I will be thinking of you when his year passes by, it goes quick!

I am playing telephone tag with you! :lmao:

Busy day! I am trying to get everything done before next Thursday, I am having my carpal tunnel taken care of. You all know I need to schedule my sick, :rotfl2: I cannto have a mess or a dirty house. Jeff got me plenty of THe Closer to watch next weekend and I told Buddy he can put on his Suzie Homemaker apron on and make me a sandwich :rotfl2:

We took Nola and Rylee swimming at the lake tonight. They were cold so we came home and now I am having a glass of wine.

Listening to the news discussing that darn Isaac. I hate that name now!

Glad you checked in, Bethany!!! Sounds like y'all weathered Ike pretty well! Hopefully the power will be restored soon, and you can get some relief from the heat!

Dinner tonight will be interesting. For Katie's American Studies class she has to prepare and serve a meal using only ingredients that were found in the New World in 1492. So, dinner tonight will be a turkey breast roasted with salt as the only seasoning. Sweet potatoes, tomatoes and avocados as our starch and vegetables, and cornmeal pancakes with honey for dessert. We'll see how this goes. It's in the oven, now, and smells pretty good, if a bit bland. We aren't eating for another hour and half, so hopefully that will be ok. The turkey might dry out, but we aren't allowed to use any butter for basting. I sure hope she passes this assignment!

Good morning.

We are expecting to some of what is left of Isaac to make an appearance today. We could use the rain.

I had a little excitment last night. When I was leaving work to go home my brake light was on. I drove the mile to my mechanic to see what was the problem. I am so lucky with this car it turned out it was the brake line. It will be done today so I can pick my baby up. Luckily it will be a cheap fix.

Glynis How did Katie's dinner turn out? Interesting they had avocados. We take so much for granted. No pepper? No wonder the pilgrims did last.

Nancy I hope your surgery goes well and you are not down long. I don't make a good patient. :rolleyes1

Today is digging out this thing I call home. Have a great day

So, I'm just gonna jump in.

Just been catching up on the news on this thread and doing a little back-reading. I did wonder why no one posted on the other thread but I'm glad to have finally seen this thread.

Life for me has been pretty rough this year. I haven't been exactly well this winter and have had a lingering bronchial cough since about April. Work has been challenging and I've had to put in a heap of extra hours just to keep things together.

Life at home with the family has been my sanity.....and the Dis.

I know things have been tough for some of you as well; and in comparison, my trials are minor. Somehow, sharing it with you all just makes it seem to be lighter....if you know what I mean.

Thank goodness it is inexpensive! My car had a rattle and I waited for DH to fix it. Nope. I made an appointment and it was just a loose heat shield.no charge!

I also am cleaning...................Not Fun!

.

You have not felt well since you got back from your vacation, that is way too long to be sick! I know you are busy but I think you need rest. I am one of those folks who think you have to give in to a sick once in a while, just get it over with.

So I have to clean the LR today. We have a great room kind of house, my kitchen, dining room and living room are kind of all in one. WOOD galore and so I am dragging my trusty steamer out again. It is not a true Fall clean, I don't have time for that this weekend but it wil be way better than it is now.

On a sour note, my trusty steam generator iron thing is dying. I am really peeved about that. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I will be cleaning today too. More yard work (didn't do any yesterday; too hot to work outside with no ac to cool off in) and also cleaning up all the hurricane supplies that are cluttering up the place. I can also vacuum! We tracked in a lot of mud and leaves and I could not get them out. Sooo excited to vacuum. :confused3

PIO...good to see you! Sorry you're not feeling well.

This is short because posting from phone. Internet is still out, and laptop is in a plastic bin somewhere. We had prepped to evacuate but ended up staying, so I have a lot of things in plastic bins to put away.

Bethany You must have it bad if you are looking forward to vaccuming:rotfl2:

I am taking a small break from my chores. I finished the lawn, needed to do that before it rains. It is soo cloudy not sure how much rain we will get. The cat is looking out my patio door for it.

PIO Sorry you are feeling poorly. Hopefully you will start feeling better soon. Mr A had Pertussis in January no idea how since he is current on all his shots.

Ok enough wasting time
