Who's watching the re-running of Sex And the City. I never really followed the show the first time around. I have teenagers who always seemed to be in the living room when it came on and there's no way. But now I'm watching the TBS version and am so hooked on this show. If you saw the original are you finding the tbs version disappointing?

I'm guessing I'm going to be the only one watching episode 3 tonight. I'm thinking of renting some of the series dvd's.

i was a SATC addict when it ran on HBO...i was suffering serious withdrawls until it came back on TBS!!

i'm not terribly disappointed in the editted version on TBS. since i've seen the original, i know what's supposed to happen. i still get the same story as i did before, just with less vulgar language and less nudity! the only disappoinment thus far was a line that Big delivers at the end of episode 1...i can't type it here, but i can assure you, he doesn't say just "absolutely!" ;)

tonight's episodes should be episodes 3 and 4...

i just sat and watched the very last SATC again sunday night...*sigh*

i love that show!!

It definitely loses something in the translation, doesn't it?

I think it's holding up pretty well, but there are a few things like the above instance that were better in the original.

Both my DH and I love this show and are happily watching the reruns.

Since I know Mr. Big's catch phrase I don't hear him say Absolutely. I hear the original word while watching the cleaned up version. It was an expression popular with my gf's and I during high school.

yep..it certainly loses something in translation! but that's ok...i know what he's supposed to say!

my DH can't stand the show. he'll watch it to humor me, but that's the extent of it. he has yet to watch any of the episodes with me since it began on TBS.

Big just rocks...

I have a college aged dd home for the summer so she's watching it with me. So I'm glad for the cleaned up version, even though I'm sure she's seen plenty as bad. The interesting thing about watching it with her is that although I don't approve of some of the characters behavior it's the life I would want for her. I would like her to be daring, independent and live a life that she can look back on and see as well lived. So Carrie to me is the embodiement of a strong independent woman, living life on her own terms, yet still having a heart. Able to keep hoping for that right man. And she is strong enough to walk away from anybody who doesn't really measure up. I wish I had been more like that in my 30's.

i do have to say, when they were showing SATC every night for that one week, i watched an episode with my mom. it wasn't nearly as "weird" to watch with my mom with the cleaned up version!

carrie is an amazing character. she knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it!

SPOILERS (in case you haven't seen the series finale)

my favorite character was always charlotte. she reminded me so much of me! when i watched the finale again, her scenes just made me sob...and then when carrie saw big in paris...sigh...and when...oh, who am i kidding? i sobbed for about half the episode! starting when carrie found her necklace...it's such a great show!

I never followed the show because I felt like I missed too much. But I did see the last 5 episodes including the finale. I wish I hadn't now that I'm rewatching them. I guess I'm a prude but I just can't watch sex scenes with my kids, even if they have seen them without me. I just get too embarrassed. So I'm thrilled for the cleaned up version to watch with my dd.

Lost in translation. Just like Time Square, it's just not the same as the real New York.

DH called it Disnefied. :)

just not the same as the real New York
No of course not. If it was we probably wouldn't like the show. Plus even if it was the real NY you would be getting the 30something career oriented single woman's version of NY. And the man's version would be different. Even the married couple's version would be different. But it's perfect summer entertainment. For some reason I'm drawn to fluff this summer. I'm watching North Shore and Summerland when I'm home too. Not my typical fare but it's nice to not have to think too much.
