Kate is an angry woman, Michelle is not. I've seen quite a few instances of Kate being nasty and mean to people, especially those in her "family", but none of Michelle.

For me, the show was all right. My DS4 used to like this show, because of all those adorable kids. It is hard explaining that it is not Jon and Kate Plus 8 anymore to a young kid, so it was around the Kate Plus 8 change that he lost interest. We have not seen the most recent episodes.

That happened on the episode when they went to WDW (the little kids were 3)!

When John was asked how he felt about the incident, he said, "Who cares? Let them have the ice cream. Let them bathe in it!" They have such different parenting styles and priorities. It's no wonder they split up. I can't imagine what the therapy bill will look like when those kids are older. For the record, I would have let the kids have a field day with the ice cream. That's what Wet Wipes were made for and that's why I always carry them with me!

I definitely remember the who cares, let them bathe in it line. It made me laugh, because I said something similar (albeit, not was witty) to my husband when I first saw it. Poor kids were at WDW of all places. My son spilled chocolate milk on himself within 10 minutes of entry once and proudly wore the dirty shirt the rest of the day. He was about 3 at the time and no one in our group at least even cared.

Hopefully, these kids turn out all right. They really are adorable kids, but do seem to have obvious issues from being filmed all of these years. Makes me feel guilty for watching at times.

However, from reading here I have to wonder if she was so impossible before and during this trip that it could be one of the reasons they dropped the show? Maybe TLC was over her and the loss of interest also.

Same here. I'm sure the ratings had something to do with it, but it is all about connections (who you know and who you make mad).

Let's see, the rating have been dropping since she "took over"..... hummm, will look very good on a resume!!

Exactly what I was saying about the two posts above. Her ratings have dropped, which is never good for tv execs. Then, I wonder if she upset the wrong person. It is certainly possible and a good theory.

I totally agree! And yes, I remember all of those episodes. The person who gave the gum was Jodi, Kate's sister-in-law. Yes, Kate blew up over a stick of gum at the woman who watched her 8 children 1 day per week for free (so Kate could have time for herself), even though she had 4 kids of her own.

The minute Kate lifted up her shirt to show her stretched out belly because she "knew the world would be curious", I knew she was out to get whatever she could financially out of the situation.

Aunt Jodi seemed almost too good to be true. She can babysit for me anytime, and give my DS gum. I'll take a ruined pair of socks for a day of her watching over my kids.

I don't think the younger Duggar children are that good of an actor. I really believe they are well adjusted and happy. They certainly seem secure and loved and I don't think as a young child you can fake that. JMHO.

I have not seen that show too many times, so I cannot comment on much. Those kids seem happy and amazing from what I've seen though! It is hard to see a Mom with a few kids have that much control but she has a ton (of kids and control). She seems awesome to me. Since she raised the older ones, they are probably so helpful and well behaved because of her.

Wow! I hate to say this. It seems like such a trainwreck, and I feel bad for being enticed by it. But, I think I will watch the last 2 episodes after that.

No not a single mom. However DH has his own business and works tons of hours. Never had a nanny or any help at all.

I had mine in steps - I had three kids in 34 months twice!

I'm not saying everything is easy but I sure wish I had people coming over to do my laundry, ironing and taking care of the kids at night so I could have had ONE sleep through the night once in awhile.

We all can get stressed out with a houseful of kids. Believe me there are worse things that can happen. When my third child was three we found out he had cancer. He survived, we survived, but you can't get much more stress than that.

Kate doesn't seem to appreciate anything that people do for her, she just always expects that they should be there to do for her.

I think this is her biggest problem.

I think that TLC and Kate are equally to blame in all this. No one made her become what she has turned into. Kate has always been a shrew, its just that she had cameras shoved into her face. Compare the Gosselins to the Duggars. Those shows have been on for about the same time and the Duggars have gotten just as much notoriety from it. But they haven't gone crazy with the fame. I still watch that show because that family is still just as modest as
when the series started.

The network made certain amenities available to her that exploded her sense of entitlement, this furthered the shrew that I agree she has always been. If she did not have the TV series, I think that Kate and Jon would still be together, raising the kids in a small house and she would have next to no help from anyone because she was already on the road to pissing off the volunteers at the time TLC moved in.

Wow! I just watched the episode and I am actually very disturbed by it. I am more upset at TLC than anyone. Kate is being Kate, an entitled, selfish shrew. She is a lost cause as far as I'm concerned. I gave up on her along time ago.

The fact Kate did not let the older girls see the Grand Canyon, along with Ashley, is beyond ridiculous and the punishment did not fit the crime. Yes, the girls were being brats, but it's the Grand Canyon.

When Ashley left and the kids were crying I was just thinking about they are going to have issues with trusting anyone. Kate says everyone leaves her. Well, there is a reason for that Kate! I am sure we will be hearing lots about these poor children later and not for the best from most I'm sure.

My guess the reason goes no further than the #1 reason shows are cancelled: Ratings. I recall that viewership had been in a steady fall since "Kate" took the show solo.

Actually the ratings were way down before the divorce. Many people here thought the divorce, Jon cheating etc, may have been a ploy between them to get the ratings up. I was surprised it wasn't canceled way back then. Most cable shows don't last anywhere near as long as this one. Ratings went back up when they were going through the separation, because so many people love a trainwreck. TLC did everything they could to keep it (the divorce, the paps, etc) going, and ratings went up. Once the hoopla was over, ratings went down, but they are still considered decent for a cable show..one that is very cheap to produce.
I think it was canceled because it's done. I don't think it's how she acts, how Jon acts, or anything other than, it's time has come.

All that said, what on earth were they thinking putting those 3 woman together in such a small space with all those kids and production people? Add to that all the breakdowns and malfunctions (did they invent some of those for the reactions?) and no air at one point and I think TLC got just what they wanted.

I'm glad the show is over..if I never see Jamie or Ashley again, it will be too soon for me and I wish Kate success in whatever venture she is out for on her own.

PS for the person who said their RV toilet stunk, do you use the blue stuff and you might have to have it checked, because you should not smell it at all It should be well sealed.

While I agree that the idea for the trip was flawed from the start, I don't think that TLC necessarily bares the brunt of the blame. All indications were that Kate had veto power over program ideas and was even responsible for a lot of the suggestions used on the show. I will also say that they realized the likely issues and tried to minimize them by doing things like flying the adults and kids out west to meet up with the RVs instead of making them ride out west in the RVs.

I quit watching soon after their vow renewal. Gosh, what a waste of money!! Lovely setting & heavenly dress...all a waste!! A lie too I suspect because rumors of their troubles surfaced soon after that, didn't they?

It was wonderful news to hear the show was cancelled but I have to admit I watched the 2 RV episodes. What a mess!! My DD thinks Kate has OCD; it can't be all that bad to hand a piece of pizza to someone without wrapping it up for petes sakes. I also can't imagine wanting to cook for that many people while on such a long trip. Or at least cooking to the extent it looked like they were doing. What's wrong with hotdogs & beans or even hamburgers, although not for 2 weeks straight.

I also don't understand why Kate can't roll with the flow so to speak; that's why my DD thinks OCD comes into play. Also it would have been nice to sit down with the 2 friends to talk about who will do what & when BEFORE you leave. This would have been something to take care of when in the trip planning process I would think.

Well, Kate sure will have to think of something else now. Wonder how often we'll see her in the tabloids...

I can't believe she gave them that punishment as well! It's the Grand Caynon and they didn't get to see it? Really? I think TLC is editing it to make her look worse than it is. Granted they didn't get to go that time i'm sure they did get to see it at another stop. I'm sure Ashley would have gotten ticked off if she missed it too. If i'm wrong and they didn't actually get to see the GC then shame on her. That is terible parenting!


She has always had control issues and OCD. Her having this show and becoming famous has feed the monster in her. I hope she can become somewhat normal when the cameras go away but she thrives on the attention and choas.So I doubt it. Plus she makes a mountain out of a mole hill and brings it upon herself.


I am glad the show is going off the air. I can't stand to watch it any more. I hope for the kids sake they can have a normal life.

And I hope they don't, if it's going to be another negative book like that other lady that follows them around wrote. I'd like to see the kids get a break, not have even more negativity in their lives. I'd like to see Kate do what a lot of people on the old Kate threads said they wanted to happen..for Kate to get a job without the kids and be successful and able to continue to support them. I don't want to see a negative tell all book about what is the kids lives (because Kate is the kids lives). In the past, many people said they didn't care what Kate did, as long as the kids were no longer on a show. I still feel that would be best.

Agreed- Kate didn't know about a few of the excursions they were participating in but she had full knowledge of what type of accommodations they would be using. She did a test drive of one of the RV's back home so she could maybe be a driver, with this she had a full view of exactly the size of the space they would have for their two week trip.

And there you are again, name calling, just like on the past threads. No one bullied anyone..many of us had different opinions, and some just thought only their opinions mattered. Fans and non fans alike ended up leaving instead of everyone having a right to voice their opinion.
No one here has said anything bad about how other people thought..until now. I'm not sure how you decide which people were the sensible ones.

Can't we just keep this friendly and about the show and the people on the show, instead of making comments about people who have posted in the past and your opinion of them?

It's kind of sad, really, that her kids have to deal with a mother like her PLUS the fact that all of this has gotten captured on film. Does Kate ever watch her own show? Doesn't she realize what she looks like??

They're saying it's the "final 2 episodes", and I hope for the sake of the kids, that it's true. And is that the same bodyguard Steve with her/them???


P.S. Who are the 2 women traveling with them? Friends I'd guess??

anyone with 8 kids has to be organized to get all done that needs be let alone support them all herself.. as sure not getting anyhelp from the Dad per any news source. so really hate to judge her to harshly as has to be handful with all them

Doris, Kate's solo show debuted at 3.4 millions viewers and it's been downhill from there. Last May her show was down to pulling in well below a million viewers (only just over 600,000 pairs of eyeballs). That's an under-performing reality show for Discovery/TLC and likely ended up making it an endangered species with the execs. Kate clearly didn't want it to end, seeing as it's the financial underpinnings of her family. I think it's the viewers that declared the show "done". If the show were still pulling in a million plus viewers on a regular basis, I think it'd still be on the schedule for this Fall.
