That must vary by hospital.Neither my sister or Mom (RN's) changed bedpans. That was the job of CNA's.
If your RN family members never cleaned up a bedpan or any sort of "accident" I would be surprised. Just because it is in the scope of a CNA to help with toileting pts, that doesn't mean the RNs aren't doing it too. I had a nurse aide put a pt on a bedpan the other night and promptly go on break while the pt was still on it

I personally think that Kate's OCD probably makes her a good nurse, her personality might lend itself to an area of nursing where the pts aren't awake
