I'm watching "Kate Plus Eight"....

So for Kate to get a real job it has to be extremely well paying and have just the right hours. Huh. Must be nice. Most of us just have to muddle on making the family life work around the work.

Yes, but we aren't the great Kate Gosselin. WE took a huge pay cut and won't ever get it back, no one seems to mind for me and my family. My kids have felt it as have a lot of families. They don't complain and I don't either, we have a roof over our heads and food. It is all good.

A new Audi TT is about $50,000. If the one Kate has is actually used, she paid about $40,000. And she actually did trade a SUV for it. The good news is that she can trade that snazzy little black Audi in for a new Ford or Chevy 15 passenger van for only $30,000 and actually haul her kids around in it.

I think she has 3 cars. The big van, an SUV and the new to her Audi. I saw somewhere that she claimed she traded in her old SUV for a newer one -- and the Audi.

There may be other unanticipated overheads to that zippy little sports car.

88 mph in a 65 mph zone! Guilty plea. Tut tut, Kate! I hope you were wearing a seat belt because I notice you don't always. Remember 8 little kids are depending you staying alive and working your fingers to the bone for them.

A quick google tells me that Kate has at least 3 speeding tickets on her record over the last couple of years. This is just the latest.

I'm sorry. We know lots of people who have had to take pay cuts and or lost jobs with manufacturing down in our area. Glad it's good for you guys..I have a neighbor who is working as a greeter for Walmart, and they are being foreclosed on their house. I think they have given up, and it's taken a real toll on their family..they had a lot of changes that have been hard on their kids.

After her very public behavior on TV, I don't think there is a hospital in the world that would hire her.

Nursing as a career is out for her ~ unless she does private nursing. Which, judging from her OCD and AR tendencies, she could never do.

Thank you. I know lots of people have it a lot harder than we do. OUr kids are just doing without a lot of the extras, but they still have a lot more than some.

So true!

I honestly am surprised she's a nurse. I'd heard that before but she doesn't seen like a very nurturing person. And nursing can be dirty work; cleaning up vomiting, bodily function accidents, etc....with her OCD for cleanliness you would think she'd hate that.

Yes, nursing is very messy.

Maybe before she became infamous, her personality was different, but I sure wouldn't want her as a nurse now. :scared1:

Wow! Its a good thing she didn't get that ticket in Georgia, she'd be considered a "Super Speeder", but I guess with her driving record, she could be considered one of those anywhere. One or more of her kids could have been in the vehicle when she received that ticket also. Tsk, tsk. :sad2:

So most of us don't think she could get hired as a nurse, for various reasons.
Now that her show is over, and many also don't think she should be hired on the view or any other shows, just what do you think she should do that would support her kids..because even if she did save a lot of money, it isn't going to last forever.
I personally would like her to get a job doing something she enjoys on her own, without the kids..I think for anyone, that makes a happier person.
But if those who intensely disklike her keep writing/tweeting/emailing and posting on the websites of the places that are considering hiring her, how easy will it be for her to get a job? Do people just want her to fall down and not be able to earn a living? Just curious.

I would think poorly of any place that didn't hire her because of tweets or emails from random strangers that saw her on a show. It's one thing to take into account previous employer info but to say "eh I got an email from someone that doesn't know her personally and says bad things therefore we will not hire her" would make for a crappy employer and not a place I would want to work. She does have a certain notoriety right now but some employers might thrive on the publicity of "Kate Plus 8" working for them..she is not without opportunity.

What should she do with her life..who knows :confused3 Like all grown ups it is up to Kate to find something she can and/or wants to do to support her family. That doesn't mean it has to be "celeb" or media related jobs but I think she has grown quite accustomed to the limelight and she needs to use common sense when deciding what a valid long term job prospect is.

There would be no reason at all she wouldn't have enough funds to put herself back through school and still support the children if she wants/needs to make a career change. She gets paid what was it..$250,000 per episode? She should be perfectly capable of managing her money to get through until she finds a career/gets a degree that she wants. Plenty people do it with far far less money. Will that means giant mansions, new expensive cars and regular salon visits? Possibly not..but that's OK..it can be done.

I don't think anyones writings/ tweets/ blogs about her will hinder her in employment. Her own personal behavior will determine her opportunities. I think we're giving the casual observer too much credit. From this point on, Kate needs to create her own life & opportunities. However, along with that she needs to not blame others - paparazzi, her ex, etc.

Exactly!

Nurses don't change bedpans. That's what CNA's are for. ;)

Actually, we (RNs) do change bedpans. I have a strong dislike for any nurse that thinks they are "too posh to wash or too cool for the poo". I imagine Kate would be one of those, but you never know she cleaned the poo of all those kids. Or maybe her nanny did?

I agree. No one is responsible for Kate not being able to find a job other than Kate herself.

Due to some very public behavior and choices she's made, she's going to have a hard time finding a normal job.

That must vary by hospital. :) Neither my sister or Mom (RN's) changed bedpans. That was the job of CNA's.

Ideally, she could get a nurse's job in her kids school. She would be home with them when school's closed. Of course, she's have to get the 2 that were kicked out for bad behaivor readdmitted. ;)

Around here, there is a high demand for nurses. There are many dr's offices who hire them part-time. She could work part time when the kids are in school.

Even if she has invested her money wisely and can not work for a few more years until the kids are older, she will have a hard time dealing with the "quiet". It's going to be very difficult when people stop snapping pictures, etc. If she wants to go on vacation, she's going to have to pay for it herself. TLC (or anyone) won't be there with limo's, first class tickets, etc. THAT is what is going to be very difficult for her.
