As you know, my mom and I went on a trip to St. Augustine, FL for a long weekend. Sunday morning, we drove down to Disney World for a day of fun!
The drive wasn't bad at all. Soon, we saw this!
The sky in that pic looks MUCH worse than it actually looked!
Next, we found this!
This is where we would spend the night tonight!
Mom, take a picture of me as approaching Port Orleans Riverside!
(I hate that picture of me!)
We checked in and since it was
(actually 10:03 a.m. I hadn't changed my watch to FL time,) our room was not ready yet. I was given the option of a phone call or text message when our room was ready. I chose text because I thought it would be awesome to get a text message from Disney World! They told us what our room would be, so we headed over that way to park the car.
I was a little bummed that we were in the Alligator Bayou section
but we REALLY weren't spending much time at all in the room and I really wanted to get to the park, so I didn't argue!
We grabbed our stuff out of the car, including 3 bottles of water, since it was already pretty hot and humid. I tried to walk, but may have broken into skipping a bit as we headed over to the bus stop.
Deciding on ONE park to go to was pretty tough, but we made a decision and stuck with it.
The bus pulled up pretty quickly and we got on. I thought it was a bad sign that it was so early in the morning and we were grateful for the air conditioning already!
Shortly, we pulled up to the Magic Kingdom!
It was a short line through the bag check and we were ready to head through the turnstyles
Then we headed right up to the train and gazed upon my favorite street in the whole world, Main Street in the Magic Kingdom!
We heard the train approaching, so we jumped in line.
There it is!
I just love riding on that train! We got off the train and headed over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Sadly, BTMRR was not running at the time. They said to check back in a half hour. So we walked over to Splash Mountain and grabbed some fastpasses.
I was DETERMINED not be be commando on this visit to Disney World. I tried to let my mom make most of the decisions as to what we would do. I say "tried" because my mom is very indecisive, so I ended up deciding anyways! I tried to keep a slow walking pace throughout the day and just take it all in.
My mom's decision this time was to go to Haunted Mansion, so off we went.
I always feel so bad for the little kids on this ride! They get so freaked out! A little girl behind us in line tapped me on the back and asked me "Does this ride go upside down?" I assured her that we would stay upright the whole time and chuckled to myself about the thought of those doom buggies going upside down!
I love all these eyes!
Bluebeard sure had a lot of wives!
One of my goals on this trip (aside from taking it easy) was to see things at Magic Kingdom that I have never seen before. Since I have never seen the Hall of Presidents, we walked over there and headed on in. But we were blocked! I hadn't realized they were closed for refurbishment (to add our new president). They were having an annual passholder event in there. Someday I will own an annual pass!!!
That was the second attraction we were denied in the first 2 hours at the park! Would this be a bad sign of things to come?!
