I am thinking of having my tonsils out - when I get sick I get horrendous sore throats and you can see my tonsils are inflamed.
Was it bad having this done as an adult?
I had them out when I was an adult...
I think it depends on how the doctor approaches the aftercare.
It's gonna be sore but don't baby yourself. My Dr. told me to eat whatever I wanted but to avoid two things. Salt and Carbonated drinks until the healing was done.
I came home from the hospital and had a burger and fries (unsalted) for lunch. It took me most of the afternoon to eat it, but once I was past being afraid to swallow it went ok from there. Sure... eat soft foods (I think I took out stock in Mac and Cheese that week...) but I remember also eating chicken and a few other things too.
My neighbor had them out at the same time and her Dr. told her to eat ice cream, etc (you can do that along with the other soft foods...) but since she was afraid to swallow she was still drinking shakes a week later.
After I had them out, I didn't get any more severe throat infections and my sinuses improved too.
