Okay...first trip report. I'll try to make this interesting.....:)

First let me introduce the cast :)
Me/Dopey-Planner and photo taker
Husband/Grumpy-Goes along for the ride, has a great time when we get there.
Happy/Teen son-enjoys the trip but spends an awful lot of time texting people back home.
Sleepy-Teen daughter-is a mini me....loves Disney, listens to the music months before the trip, watches all the Disney movies over again before the trip and has my planning obsession.
Sneezy-youngest daughter who is slowly turning in to a Disney lover. And a thrill seeker as well....this was her first year getting to ride many of the roller coasters and TOT.
Doc-Our RAD child....he's a good kid but too much family time can lead to him feeling like he's confined and he needs to break out. Regardless, he had a good time....and we all kept our cool :)
Bashful-my youngest son....isn't quite sure about Disney yet. This is his 3rd trip and he's 5 years old....but he still doesn't really care for the characters approaching him and doesn't understand the parades and other festivities. He did, however, enjoy the dance party with me on MNSSHP night.....he really knows how to shake that booty LOL

Okay....we're in the car, ready to go and it's 4am. This is a first...we usually shoot for 4am but don't pull out of the driveway until 5am or so, oddly enough I packed the car this year instead of DH...maybe there is some coincidence there LOL

So we head out....about 2 hours away from home I check my phone and notice it's not working....GREAT!!! New smart phone isn't so smart! So I'm freaking out about not having a phone all week...too late to turn back home to get my spare and my SIM won't work in anyone else's phone for some reason (AT&T conspiracy once you lock in to that smart phone). I stay on the phone for 45 minutes trying to get a reboot....to no avail.

100_4787.jpg

All the kids are sleeping ....just my husband and me now. It was pretty uneventful and we didn't hit much traffic either. Kind of nice really....I made a note to leave at 4am in the future too. We made our annual stop at the service center to get our Dunkin Doughnuts (which really wasn't as fun as it usually is now that we have a local Dunkin Doughnuts....but nevertheless it's a tradition and so we did it).

We arrive at Disney around 2pm and we head through the gate at Pop Century. I'm getting all goose bumpy thinking of hearing "Welcome Home" from the CM. I was choking up thinking about it and then NADA, nothing, ZILCH.....what's up with that? I did tear up a bit when the kids started cheering as we drove under the Walt Disney World banner though....it's always so magical knowing you can still excite your children (from 16 to 5) with a vacation :).

We parked and practically ran in to the Classic Hall.....we'd used online check in this year and we were excited to see our rooms and get settled (and visit the local Orlando AT&T Service center LOL). We approached the online check in desk and we were quickly greeted and given our package.....wait a second, we have 2 rooms. The CM quickly resolved our issue....seems one room didn't get checked in online even though they were linked but they still had the first package as a connecting room so again, it was quickly resolved. We were in the 90's building, and decided that next year we would be upgrading to a preferred room.....this has to be the longest walk from the food court....but on a good note it was close to the laundry room LOL

We did the bed bug check; complete with ultraviolet light, lint roller and removing sheets...etc. Minor note here: GROSS.....UV lights show up things on those comforters and blankets that is just GROSS......blech blech blech. So no bed bugs....but tons of tiny little ants in the bathroom floor. We quickly disposed of them using the lint roller....kind of funny actually and then moved our luggage in. We wiped out the drawers with the Clorox wipes we'd brought (gross, again....please wipe out those drawers, what on earth are people storing in those things???), unpacked and then turned right around and jumped in the car to head out to the AT&T Service center.

I'll spare you the details of our little trip off site.....AT&T wasn't able to help us, the phone was still within the first 30 days and they don't keep replacement smart phones there. We wasted about 3 hours offsite, caught Steak and Shake for supper (rudest service we had all trip) and then headed back to our room.

We contemplated going and getting our refillable mugs when we got back....but gosh it's a long long walk and we just decided to wait. Tomorrow is our Hollywood Studios day....we have an early ADR at Hollywood and Vine, so all the kids had baths and then we headed off to bed.

Okay....I changed the title to something a bit more humorous and now on to day 2.

We were up early and headed off to MGM/HS for the day. We had an early HollyWood and Vine ADR for breakfast and we were excited...it's one of our favorite buffets.
100_4824.jpg

The bus line wasn't too long from the POP, and the bus came pretty quickly. Once we arrived at HS we made it through the bag check (gosh I'd forgotten about that part of the gate....why do I have so much stuff). Then I paused for a few minutes to get all my bags organized again....nothing I hate worse then having to dig through my bags to find something.

We got in line and one of the turnstile CMs came out and gave the kids some stickers. Then another CM came around and asked us if we had ADRs, which we did. She checked us off and told us they'd be letting everyone through soon and told us which way to walk to get to the restaurant. While waiting in line we saw a lot of people arriving that didn't have ADRs....umm, does anyone check the time schedules they give you at check in? We were there before 8am for our ADRs and the park didn't open till 9....that's a long time to wait and HS doesn't really have a 'rope drop' so I didn't understand why people would wait that long outside the gates. (although more on this later).

We walked through the gates right at 8am and took our time strolling to the restaurant....it's always so nice to see the streets fairly empty and snap a few pictures.

100_4816.jpg

The restaurant was empty, but people were arriving quickly.
100_4826.jpg

We had to wait maybe 5-10 minutes before being seated and we were seated exactly where we sat the last trip.....funny. We quickly gave our drink order and approached the buffet. YUMMY....I love love love this restaurant. Chorizo and potatoes, warm apple crumb with vanilla custard....OMGoodness it was all really delish. I took pictures of the whole buffet line....just so I could relive this part of our trip over and over again LOL A CM looked at me funny when I snapped a photo of the Chorizo and I explained to her that the photos of food were how I survived the rest of the year between trips LOL

After we ate and danced a few character jigs

100_4858.jpg

we headed outside....since the restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived breakfast went faster than we'd planned. The park was still closed....but just for a few more minutes. The CMs directed us to another holding area and we watched as the main gates opened....OMGosh.....are you serious? (this is where I mention more about the waiting guest we'd seen at 8am). I think we made a wrong turn....is this the running of the bulls? Are they giving away something for free on the other side of the park? I've never seen more people running and pushing in my life....minus news stories about raids...etc. They had CMs along the whole route to direct everyone...it was CRAZY!!! Everyone was running to ride the Toy Story Midway Mania.....seriously?!?! We bypassed it and headed to the back of the park to start out day.

We got in line to see Mater and Lightening, saw the hidden Mickey there on the wall ;) and saw a sky writer too.
100_4930.jpg

Star Wars was closed :( but we did ride just about everything else. We stopped for lunch at Toy Story Pizza Planet and then rode some more rides. Pretty boring up to this point huh? LOL

We stopped later at the bakery to try out the new cupcakes.....yummy but way way too big, we'll know to share more of them next year.
100_4948.jpg

100_4947.jpg

After TOT, RNR and supper at Studio Catering, we head over to the Fantasmic show. It starts at 8 and at this point it's right before 7....with all the walking and eating we figured we'd enjoy the hour rest. Ummm, NOPE!!! It's already standing room only....WOW! We go ahead anyway, figuring they'll be something to lean on LOL I go to drop off the stroller and a mom runs in to park hers, and then runs back out....she's in such a hurry she forgets one small thing....her kid!!! The little one (probably 3 years old or so) was just waking up and looked up at me (I parked my stroller next to theirs) and she starts yelling for her mommy. At this point I'm kind of thinking....Nawwwww, no way LOL I was asking the little girl if she saw her mommy around and my husband goes to get a CM. The mom comes running back in about then and gets the little girl....it was almost comical. The CM was shocked....but I'm sure it's not been the first time that a parent has been so hurried that they've done that...right?!?! I am not going to be critical....because it'll come back ten fold LOL

So once we get in they direct us all the way down the main sidewalk at the top and to a paved area on the left. It's really not that bad....we can sit, we can see most of the show...although we realized shortly after it started that everyone in front of us would stand and we had to hold our 3 youngest on our shoulders LOL Thanks to my oldest teenager who offered up his shoulders as well. Still, not bad and my youngest dd even had hand motions to go with all the songs....I'm so glad they enjoy Disney so much.

My 7 year old RAD child was really getting a bit antsy by now. First day at Disney World, too much family time and just too much everything. I brought a tube of glow sticks and pass those out. As soon as the show is over, we head back to the bus, and WOW...that line is CRAZY! We had to backtrack a bit to get in line for it....it was unbelievably long. While waiting a gentleman comes up and gets in line...in front of everyone in this mile long line LOL This isn't going to be pretty.....I hear someone behind me say he better get in the back of the line before he gets his......well you get the picture LOL His wife finally convinces him to go to the back of the line, makes you wonder what she said to him. Maybe #1 he doesn't have enough life insurance to support the family when the mob of angry and tired park goers attacks him and #2 him playing the "no understand" card doesn't really fly well when everyone in your party speaks english pretty clearly LOL

Once on the bus my 7 year old lets loose.....he gets both sides of his nose bleeding....how he managed to scratch it that bad I'll never know (dark bus....who knows). Anyhow, I get him in my lap and pull out the kleenex....good thing I reorganized that bag! Then we get to enjoy the stares of everyone in the back of the bus with us....I can only imagine what they were thinking. Probably thinking about blood borne illnesses or something, or how much blood could there possibly be in a small childs head....LOL I had a small garbage bag, kleenex, sanitizer, tide pens and clean wipes....so the blood never made it past his face (for those concerned with sitting on the bus seats...LOL).

Once back at the room, we all got cleaned up, dressed for bed and everyone crashed for the night. I'm kind of glad the next day we hadn't planned any early morning breakfast....I can stand sleeping until 7:30 or so :) The next day Magic Kingdom....but definitely not by rope drop!

I'm here too:goodvibes

Great start....I was laughing as I was reading out the part where you were stripping the beds and wiping out the drawers...I pointed out to Jasmine I wasn't the only mom that does this:lmao:

Can't wait to read more!!!

Enjoying your TR! Great start. :thumbsup2

The ultra violet light part grossed me out. I now want to get one and take it with me so that I can do the same but I fear that I will freak out at the results.

Looking forward to reading more. popcorn::

Okay....day 2 at the parks. Today was our Magic Kingdom day, no early breakfast ADRs and the park doesn't open until 9am so we figured we'd eat breakfast at the food court.

We all got up, got ready and donned our matching dwarf shirts....sadly we didn't get a shot of us on Main Street this year....so last years photo will have to suffice LOL
image0093-1.jpg

We haven't really changed much....just remove the double stroller, the backpack harness on my youngest daughter and change my sunglasses and my oldest sons hat....voila, it's us this year LOL

After gathering up everything for the day so we wouldn't have to come back to the room after breakfast (it's a long walk to the 90's), we hurried down to the Pop food court. WOW, it's packed....but since this isn't our first rodeo we're pretty quick about getting what we need and finding a seat. Two breakfast platters for the 'men' in the group (I say men loosely...one is my 16 year old son LOL). And then pancake platters for the rest of us....not feeling to adventurous in the food department this morning.

We head out to the bus stop and okay....so there are people who read the time schedules LOL Everyone is going to MK today, it's EMH day.
100_4956.jpg

So we hop in to line and since we slept later we don't enter the gates until almost 11am!!! I think this is by far our latest park entry ever and puts us past our plans for an 11am snack at Main Street Bakery. Oh well, we'll fit that in somewhere.

We head through the baggage check and WHAT!?!?! One of us has a weapon....well depending on who it is....throw them in the slammer, we've not got time for this LOL My dear husband who must have been asleep when he got dressed this morning put his pocket knife in his pocket like he does everyday for work. I felt like a criminal LOL, they wrote down his name and our address....WOW! Then they got 50 cents from us (thanks to that pressed penny container of quarters and pennies) for a locker to lock it up until we left for the day. Needless to say he stored it away in the hotel room for the duration of our trip so he wouldn't make that mistake again LOL We're probably on some sort of watch list now though ;)

So now that we've got that squared away...we head to the back of the park to start with some rides for my younger ones.....the previous day at HS/MGM was sort of geared more towards the teens so the little ones need some excitement now :) There was a lot of construction going on back there.
100_4960-1.jpg

and no, there is not a large Groucho Marx on the barrier wall....but I don't know those people so I gave them a disguise for the Disboards LOL

So...passing all the construction and taking a moment to read all the little signs they have about their plans, Walt Disney's dreams...etc and we saw the one for Be Our Guest, a Beauty and the Beast Restaurant.....AWESOME!
100_4963.jpg

I don't know why I've missed reading this somewhere on the Disboards....but can't wait to try and get an ADR there!

So off to our first ride....with all the construction many of the rides don't have a covered waiting area right now :( They were nice enough to put up some beach umbrellas and you aren't outside long before getting in the building....still we were glad to have sunglasses and hats. Here it comes....our ride :)
100_4965.jpg

After our visit with Heffalumps and Woozles, we disembarked (gotta love that word from the bus announcement LOL), and headed on over to our next thrilling ride (after Pooh the teens are just bursting with excitement LOL).
100_4977.jpg

Yep....we arrive at Dumbo. Probably our longest wait time for any ride so far, but it has that nostalgia about it and everyone HAS to ride it. I am not part of that 'everyone' crowd.....anything that goes in circles, even at the slowest speeds, is not something you'll find me riding. So dad volunteers to stand in the 40+ minute line while I sit by the exit gate....in the sun (not really sure who had the better end of this deal).
100_4981.jpg

By the time this ride ended, we had enough time to take in Philharmagic. My husband swears that they changed this from the original show, but I couldn't tell a difference. On our walk over to watch Philharmagic we noticed It's a Small World was closed....WHAT!?!?! I hope that didn't put a damper on too many other travelers that have never ridden it.

Now we're off to get a good seat for the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade, right outside Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street. We were really fascinated at the tarps they've created to cover the construction of the buildings on Main Street.....they are so neat. Would be cool to have one that looked like a Ferrari to cover up the Honda in your driveway LOL
100_4992.jpg

The parade was short, but colorful.
100_4996.jpg

When we came in we heard a parade earlier in the morning, where they were playing the song from the commercial. Not sure what parade that was but they didn't play that song during this one?

Since we're back on Main Street, once the parade crowd starts to thin out we decide we could use a snack at Main Street Bakery, so that's where we headed. We were kind of sad that you couldn't use snack credits on an icecream sandwich anymore....but we still found something to fill our sweet tooth needs :) Cream Cheese danish, cherry danish, chocolate croissants.....so many sweets. They also had the new Halloween Party cupcakes, I thought they were only out for MNSSHP but not so.

We took a turn through the Rose gardens when we left here, on our way over to TomorrowLand.
100_5008.jpg

It was nice seeing blooming roses when at home our flowers have already went in to their winter slumber....so pretty. Once in TomorrowLand we noticed a lot of rides were not running. Not sure what was going on, but the transit ride was not running and Space Mountain was also down....two rides the kids wanted to go on. We decided to head over toward Frontierland and then come back to TomorrowLand later.

Here was are in the Swiss Family Treehouse
100_5011.jpg

Sadly, none of my children know who the Swiss Family was....time to search e*ay for that movie....although I'm sure the teens will just say how lame it is and the younger ones will just want to live outside in a tree after watching it LOL

We made our way around to the different rides, finally made our way back over to Tomorrowland and had to stop for a drink and pretzel at the Lunching Pad. We'd missed frozen Fanta drinks at MGM/HS the day before and we were still craving one. They did not disappoint...although the sweet pretzel was a bit doughy for our taste.

The kids finally got to ride Space Mountain, but we still didn't make it on to the Transit ride. After making our rounds here, we went for supper at Cosmic Rays. We ordered the rib/chicken combo...yummy. The kids stuck with their regular fare of chicken, bbq sandwiches or burgers.

So now it's getting pretty late....time to find a spot for the parade again. We end up at the same spot we did earlier....behind some very entertaining people. They were cousins I believe, but with a language barrier. It was fun to watch them get tickled at each other, trying to understand what the other was trying to say to them. Here we are, waiting on the parade....don't we look happy LOL
100_5017.jpg

I love that they keep the fall decorations up during the day....they are so pretty. This is what you'll see on the light poles lining Main Street.
100_5026.jpg

We noticed while we were sitting there waiting on the parade to start that if you look really really closely at the tarps covering the top of Casey's Corner, you could see a light blinking....like someone had left a monitor or router or something on? And then the parade :)
100_5030.jpg

This day was pretty uneventful....up until now that is. We were watching the parade floats go by and then this poor little snail got stuck.
100_5034.jpg

The parade just left him behind....LOL Everything was still making noise and playing music but he just sat there whistling. Finally a CM came out of nowhere and gave him a little push....then she somehow gave the all clear and things started rolling again. After the parade we were just soooo tired so we headed toward the bus stop. We figured we'd see fireworks on MNSSHP night as well as at Epcot so we'd skip the fireworks this evening. What was funny though was that at the bus stop you could see just about every firework....granted they weren't as up close and personal but still it was nice being out of the crowd and knowing we wouldn't have to fight for a space on the bus.

So back to the room, everyone cleaned up and ready for bed. The next day....Animal Kingdom :)
