I'm not sure I can wait! Dec 2010!

So I did not get the job  I'm pretty sure I was overqualified, since they were taking apps from high school grads, and I have a degree. At least that's what I am going to tell myself to ease the pain of rejection :rotfl:

Actually it may be a blessing in disguise! I went to see our cruise lady to book my sister's graduation trip (no we are not cruising with Disney :lmao:).
As I was leaving she said that if I was ever looking for a job I should email the owner of the company, because this travel planning is clearly "in my blood". Her words, not mine. I said that as a matter of fact I am looking! I drafted my email tonight, and tomorrow I will attach my resume and send it. And to think, she thinks this without even knowing about my Disney obsession! So if I get this job, or any job with them, it will be way more awesome! I won't get to be as close to the magic as I would have in Tampa, but I have ALWAYS wanted to be a travel agent. When I was 10 I would play travel agent, and make my friends "book" Disney land/sea combos on the Big Red Boat (before DCL was introduced), so this is truly my calling. :rolleyes1

At least now I don't have to worry about getting time off for the weddings I need to go to or for my sister's cruise! Silver lining!

Good luck!! :wizard:

That'd be awesome if you were able to get a job as a TA! It's something I've looked into myself, but I'm not sure if I want to do it or not :)

well i am sorry the job didn't pan out, but if they were interviewing HS folks too- then you probably are overqualified and honestly, an employer really doesn't want to hire someone like that- thinking you will get bored or quit quickly and then they have to invest in re-training someone else etc.

lol at the cruise lady and it being in your blood! she hit the nail on the head huh? hope it all goes well then with that!!! keep us posted! yeah the time off thing is a headache for sure- so almost better you didn't get that other job, right? i struggle with the time off too- we didn't even start accruing our vacation until we were here 3 months, which was strange to me (all other jobs, we started accruing immediately), so getting time off here has been hard- i just started the last week of December, so i have been here 10 months now and the first 3 didn't even get me any vacation. don't they know i have disney trips to plan???:confused3:rotfl: and mom has schedule a week in June in the Smokey Mtns and rented a cabin, so i have that too (and our yearly DVC trip- probably Oct next year). at least wiht a travel agency, they would probably be more understanding and hey, there are always those site inspection trips! :)

Sorry to hear your job didn't pan out but I am sure being a TA would be so much more fun... not that I know what the other job is, but there is nothing better than planning vacations... even if they are for other people! :lmao:

I have always wanted to be a TA too. I think it could be really neat. but I have no clue how you would go about getting started in that industry.
what is your degree in?

Your Disney dinners are adorable! Love the idea and always wanted to do it. I guess I should start now! Thanks for all the great ideas. :goodvibes

lol, my degree is in Intrnational Affairs- Conflict and security with a concentration in terrorism and counterterrorism... so nothing that has anything to do with anything I do now, or want to do! I think a lot of people just fall into jobs as travel agents, but I could be wrong. I know that's how my cruse lady got started though.

Thanks! They are really pretty easy once you start thinking about it, and there is a thread somewhere on these boards with a ton of good ideas!

Well, our deadline to pay off our vacation is Tuesday... I can't believe it has crept up so fast. In order to help my parents ease the pain of putting down sucha large chunk of money at once, I think we will do a Disney night Wednesday the 3rd! This time I don't know if we will watch a movie, I am thinking about watching the Incredibles (I have never seen it!) and then tying it in by making lists of the "Incredible" things we are going to do at Disney. I really want to tie in the actual stuff we are looking forward to to cheer up my parents (mainly mom) after she has to charge up our (Disney) Visa. I am happy to report that the (miniscule in comparison) portion of the trip I am paying for (upgrade to CR for one night from CBR) will be paud of fon Friday! After this Disney night we will probably only do 2 more, one the Wednesday before Thanksgiving when my sister is home, and one the night before we leave. Both of those will be much more focused on planning etc, and with a general Disney theme. I think when we do the one before Thanksgiving I will make everyone give me the 5 things they are looking forward to most, and then I will put together a slideshow to get us hyped up the night before we leave. (Liek we'll need it) Luckily I will be off the day before we leave, so I will have plenty of time to prepare!

The Incredibles really is a great movie! Its like a tradition for us, we watch it every single year! You will really love it!

That is sooo exciting about looking into being a travel agent! I half-laughed when I read it because guess what??? I've been looking into that as well. :lmao: I know that someday I will move to Florida, whether it be within a few years or years & years & years way when I retire, but I have every intention of being a travel agent once I get there! What is that they say? Great minds think alike! :rolleyes1

I love seeing all of the dinners that you plan. I read that thread about the Disney themed parties & dinners! There are lots of great ideas on there! Are you getting excited for your trip??? I've been reading everyone's PTR for December & I'm getting super excited for everyone's trips & I'm not even going! So I can only imagine how excited you must be! :goodvibes

I would LOVE to be a TA! I would also love to live in Florida, so yes, great minds!

I love having these dinners, they are an outlet for my Disney craze.

I am so excited for my trip, it is totally sneaking up on me! I am starting my Disney Diet tomorrow, because if we are going to be eating like pigs, I need to lose some wieght first!! I am also going to start organizing the box of "Disney junk" I have that are little goodies for Jack for the trip!

Since I plan on making my parents and sister come up with their 5 things they are looking forward to, I figured I should have mine in place!

Let's see...

5. I am really excited about being on the Deluxe Dining Plan. I am so glad that we get to try all kinds of new restaurants and that we will ahve already paid for it, so there won't be any need to "hold back" from ordering anything too expensive.

4. Deluxe resort!! Even though it's only for one night, I am super duper excited about getting to stay at the Contemporary. While it's not my first choice Deluxe, it is still a deluxe resort, on the monorail line (and the only one I could afford to upgrade us to :rotfl:)

3. Photo session at Grand Floridian! I must be some kind of horrible mother because my son is well onhis way to 3 and I have yet to have professional pictures taken of him. I feel like the only one who hasn't made their kid sit through a portrait session by the time they are walking. So I am excited that we will be doing a family portrait session at GF!

2. MVMCP/Wishes Dessert Party! This trip is slightly off balance because in one day we have breakfast at CP, Photo session, Dinner at CRT, Wishes Dessert Party, and MVMCP. This will be our Christmas day. While I am nervous we are going to miss out on stuff, I am excited that we will ahve this one shiny fabulous day that represents Christmas at Disney (at least to me). Luckily it's right in the middle of our trip!

1. Our first "Full Family Trip" to WDW. We all went before Jack was born, Jack and I have been by ourselves, and we have been with my dad and sister, but this is the first time the 5 of us will have taken a really fun vacation together. (Our summer vacation to New Mexico was slightly lacking in the fun department) It will be great to watch Jack remember things from our fall trip, and fro my parents to get to see how excited he gets about things. It will be interesting to see how much they spoil him too...

So there you have it, the things I am looking forward to most!

I can't believe you guys are paying it off already! You're almost there! :goodvibes

I get how you feel about the "full family trip" thing. My entire family has never been to WDW. I've been (obviously), and my parents have been with me, but my brother and sister and niece haven't. I'm really looking forward to the family reunion :)
