I just got back from a 7 night in a two bedroom at SS. Problem....I don't think I can ever go back to a studio!!

We had so much fun. I loved having a kitchen. I cooked (with my sister) about 3 dinners, which was perfect for us because it gave us some nice relaxing down time.

I loved having a washer and dryer, and did I mention that tub?

Like I said....trouble, trouble, trouble.

Hubby better hang on to that wallet.

Is SS your home resort?
Are you a DVC member or did you rent points?
I am booked for my first stay there in May.
My last trip, I was booked into the CBR.
Nice....but a bit cramped.
I know I will be spoiled rotten by the kitchen and the washer/dryer set-up.
I'm so excited.
I have a family of six and my baby will be three this year.
We've outgrown the values and moderates (excluding the cabins and value suites).
Joining DVC was the best decision for my "large" family.
I can't wait until May!!!!

Vacationing and having fun with family is fun. Glad you had such a great time, and I hope you have the points to do it again soon!

Was the weather nice? Warm?

welcome to the club. My first DVC stay was in a studio. I stayed in a 1 bedroom this past August and every time I think about going back to a studio:scared1:. We solved that problem, we added on, twice.

LOL that is what happend to use once we had a 1BR at our home resort no more studio. Miss the washer/dryer and the tub. :wave2:

We were doomed from the started as our trips pre-DVC were in 2 bedrooms. :sad2: There's no going back after that.

We have a 1 bedroom booked in April. Hope we can go back to a studio after this trip.

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: . We just had our first DVC stay in November at SSR and we also had a 2 bedroom. It was DH, DD7, DS4, DD2, me, and my mom. It was so awesome. I have to admit I was a little concerned about staying at SSR after reading many negative posts but we LOVED it, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. We have AKV booked for late May/early June and this time we'll have a 1 bedroom which I think will be alright for us now that the kids are small, but I can't imagine going back to a studio or standard hotel room after having a 2 bedroom, so much room for everyone to roam and spread out. Once the kids get bigger we'll have to add on so that we can get a 2 bedroom for every trip.

We have stayed five nights total, in a studio. Once for three days at VWL, it was all they had and we wanted to try the resort. Once at SSR to save points for the weekend. DH said never again, I ended up with an add on at AKL and BLT. He has said he will never stay in a studio again. In fact we got a 40% off code for The Grand Floridian, DH's dream hotel. He said that he had changed his mind. That maybe we would stay there after the kids were grown, but he won't stay there now.

I totally agree with all of you, we stayed in a studio (SSR) in Nov and it was close quarters, on that trip we bought BLT and when you look at the room descriptions it shows that a studio in BLT is actually SMALLER we were like "how is that possible"
Our rule of thumb is anything more that a few nights, we need at least a 1 bedroom. If we ever go for a long weekend, we may be able to manage with a studio. Probably not though once we become spoiled with a 1 bedroom.

I am with you guys. We just got back from SSR in a 1 bdrm and DH, DS and I agreed 1 bdrm or bigger no studios. Now I did already have a studio booked for our June/July trip so we shall see how that goes but we all wanted to add points at BLT when we were there so we could always have the 1 bdrm.

Yup, this is exactly what I'm afraid of. So much so that if they offered us an upgrade I might say no.

Aw, who am I kidding? :rotfl:

We totally understand......our past two trips we've stayed in a 1 bedroom villa and can't imagine ever going back to a studio. We are sooo spoiled now, we love having the extra space :thumbsup2. DH and I were driving to Magic Kingdom this morning and both agreed that DVC is one of the best purchases we've made!!!!!!!

Yeah, that happened to us too.

We decided to "splurge" two years ago and stay in a 1 bdrm at OKW instead of our normal studio.

DH took the car over to the room while I stayed with the kids at the pool while he unloaded. He came over to the pool about 45 minutes later and said, "I have a problem" and I was like, oh, man, is there something wrong with the room? And he starts laughing and says "you're never going to let us stay in a studio again!"

We got to the room, I opened the door and said "Yep, you're DOOMED!":rotfl:

We still do stay in studios occasionally; we call it "roughing it":lmao: .

Just note that the last thing you should ever do is stay in a Grand Villa because you will have the same "never go back" reaction except it will apply to anything smaller than the GV.

We're with you! We stayed once in a studio, then a 1 bdrm. It would be really hard to go back to a studio once we've gotten used to the amenities of a 1 bdrm.! ;)

We raised our DS's in the '80s before DVC, and finally we found the Cabins at FW to rent. I know that if DVC were around then we would have stayed in 1-2 bedrooms. For now, for us, because of the balcony, DVC studios are very fine.:goodvibes

So far in my four stays, I've stayed in a studio, a 1BDR, a 2BDR and an OVIR when we stayed at VB. The larger villas are definitely the way to go, but I was fine with the studio when it was just DW and I. We generally reserve the size room we need for the number of people we have traveling.

The big decision I'll have to make is when DW are empty nesters in a couple of years is whether to go to studios or 1 BDR. We like the 1 BDR but I also would like the low points of a studio and making more trips. It really is a bit of a toss up.

You won't miss what you haven't tried :)

I've had the fortune of booking a 1br unit for myself & kids at WLV twice now. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. :thumbsup2 Before that we always went with studios and loved those. Now, I think I'd feel I was missing a good part of the room if I went back to the studio there.

HOWEVER, I own at AKV, and the need for a 1 br unit there has not hit me (yet) as we've only stayed once in a value studio (savanna view). It was a little tight ("Mom! Where do we put the cushions!") but it was beautiful and sold us on the resort. ... Now, *if* I'm point smart I will NEVER book anything larger than a studio there. (I already feel the need to have the savanna view) Question is: How smart am I? Meh, I'd say it all depends on the cost of airfare and the number of points in my account.
