Iger confirms DHS name change will happen

How about - "Disney's Hollywood Studios Acquisitions"? Or DHSa (all rights reserved).

Sorry - couldn't help it - it just popped up inside there!

According to the (still-to-be-approved-and-finalized) expansion plans, between now and 2021 there is a desire to bring a studios "feel" back to the park, without actually going back to a working studio. So I think it's a good bet that the word "Studios" will still be part of the name.
Please oh please oh please let this come to be. I'm not doubting you, but could you please tell me where you have seen/read this? I would love to see it all myself.

CMs refer to it as Studios. Maybe it'll just be Disney Studios... an all encompassing term for Disney Animation, Pixar, Lucasfilms, Touchstone, Buena Vista, etc.
I feel like they should drop "Studios" all together since there isn't actually any studios anymore. I really like "Disney's Hollywood Adventure" or "Disney's Hollywoodland"

And, Walt Disney Studios Park is in use at Disneyland Paris resort.

Hollywoodland is an R-rated Ben Affleck movie, so, that leaves Disney Hollywood Adventure.

It was a personal communication with a member of the Imagineering staff. For obvious reasons, she is long on tantalizing hints and short on details. But there's a lot coming to the Studios in the run up to the 50th.

What does that mean (studios theme but not working studio)?

I have no love for the working studio concept. Why did they think I wanted to walk down a street lined with plain sound stages or eat like some Gaffer named Joe in an unused prop warehouse?

It hasn't been MGM in a while - why would you call it something it's clearly not?

We don't although we didn't visit until May 2008 so it may have been DHS already by then. I think once a name sticks that what it is people.
We have a several stadiums here that are still referred to by their original name (such as Ericsson Stadium) by nearly everyone despite being renamed several times and it being many years down the track

do you think they will try and make it the florida version of the California Adventure Park?

i dont think they would favour a studio name like Pixar/Lucas for fear in upsetting the other studio. so calling it somthing like The Florida Adventure is pretty neutral and in keeping with other parks.
however in Paris they named there version Walt Disney Studios Park so they may just do this and drop the Hollywood part?.

but i think that might require alot more overhaul to the park as its very Hollywood themed right now and disney is all about the story and themeing so major overhaul time?

i hope they dont start this while Animal Kingdom is still under construction and Downtown Disney - but as per the past experiences im sure they will announce somthing maybe in the fall after star wars release? see how the movie does and then judge how big of a lucas impact to have in the park - everyday could be SWW lol

of course at this point just speculating!

Doubt whether they will have any "major announcement" until Avatarland is opened, or Star Wars IX is released. They can string along Star Wars fans for years without really committing to anything...as long as the movies keep coming out, they don't have to give us anything substantial. Look how much fans got fired up about one simple lightsaber design in the promo for the next film, I think half of us would have a coronary if they announced anything real. Except for Start Tours, the whole southside of HS could be wiped clean and expanded to the drainage canal and it still wouldn't be enough to satisfy the Star Wars' generations. (Now a Star Wars value resort would be a different story...).

Think I'd prefer Disney Movie Kingdom over Hollywoodland (save that for California)

I would a Star Wars themed value Resort. :)

I really don't think they should drop Hollywood. There are a variety of things that would have to be changed to get rid of the Hollywood feel. Plus I love the characters that come out randomly! The look of the shops!

This would be good- then I could still keep referring to as the Studios. :)

I may be the only one here but I detest Star Wars and anything related to it. I would love to see Marvel come into play.

I do want to walk down a street lined with plain sound stages and eat in an old prop warehouse. I think it's fun.

I'm not a fan of Star Wars, either. I can see how it would be a good expansion, though. I'm not saying I want the whole park to be Star Wars themed, but an expansion on the area would be good for the park as a whole, I think. Star Wars Weekends are very popular and I think Disney can really do some pretty great things with it. I'll just stay away from that area and enjoy Great Movie Ride and Tower of Terror with shorter waits due to people being in the Star Wars area.

My question is this. Why close the back lot tour, if nothing is imminent in terms of construction? Does the toy story 3rd track construction benefit from the closure?
My bet is the new concept for the park, at least on the basic level are announced on the stage soon to be completed in the former hat spot. That would be a good time to announce construction plans.
As to the name, seems premature until we really know how the entire parks theme will be adjusted.

...and the stage will be complete during Star Wars weekend, correct?

"Hollywoodland" and Hollywood Adventures makes me think of Dollywood and Islands of Adventures.
I hope they drop Hollywood from the name

Disney needs something uniquely Disney.

I'm just guessing, but since the removed the Big Hat so you can see the the Chinese Theater as you enter the park agian I imagine some combination of "Disney" and "Hollywood" will be part of the name, maybe "Disney's Hollywoodland" even
I didn't look for myself, but it was mentioned in another thread...according to Kenny the Pirate, apparently a permanent stage is going in where the hat used to be. It will be called "Center Stage".
