Iger confirms DHS name change will happen

If so I recommend 'Pimp' because WDW has become all about pimping the latest Disney movie. Yes, this was always true to a limited extent, now it's job one.

I piped in on another thread wherein people began beating on Frozen as well... I am not sure what people expect Disney to do actually? They are capitalizing on their movie. How evil. The public is showing up for Frozen Summer Fun in droves to enjoy the fun, and thus spicing up the Studios for a couple years. What a travesty.

I think we should fully expect Disney to showcase whatever current Disney "craze" is out there. If they didn't, people would be complaining that Disney isn't recognizing and taking the opportunity to liven things up. You can hate on Frozen all you want, but like I said elsewhere, being obsessed with A&E is no different than a lot of adult's obsessions with their favorite characters. Imagine posting a thread about how annoying Mickey is and how you wish there was less of that damn mouse all over the parks. Well, we can't hate on Mickey, now can we? But let's face it, A&E are bigger rock stars to many kids than Mickey is, and that's ok.

I for one hope they do continue to "pimp their movies" as time moves on. It's what the kids want (and doesn't that matter too?). My kids loved the Frozen events last year, and well, I'll say it... I am guessing they'll be delighted by the Maelstrom overhaul as well. I know, I know... but that was the "culture" they tore down to make way for Frozen abomination! Well, I guess my response to that is that I don't really take my kids to Disney for "culture." I take them for fun, and if some culture slips in there too, then that's just fine. But, I torture my kids plenty enough at home trying to expose them to culture. Let's just go to Disney, play along with whatever the current phenomenon is, and have fun. After all, isn't the object to feel young again while we are in Disney World anyway?

Since Disney has 2 parks with the work "Kingdom" in the name, and another that is an anagram, they should balance things out and come up with another anagram name. Maybe Disney's Rudderless Entertainment and Cinematic Kingdom. :teeth:

Disney's Imagination Studios has a nice ring. I agree that it has long since been a "studio", but the studio brand has been in place since its inception. Like most of you, I have just now gotten to the point of no longer calling it MGM. I would imagine that construction will start in earnest once Avatarland and the work at Animal Kingdom is complete.

My hope is that all rides and especially shows, are completely overhauled and updated. First on my list is to completely change the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular to a different show. My kids have no idea who Indiana Jones is or why they should care about a movie involving aliens. Kingdom of Crystal Skull, I'm talking about you. Ugh. Nothing against rides based around Septuagenarians, but next on my list is to replace Aerosmith with a more appealing theme than the LA Freeway. I think Cars Land is a foregone conclusion, since the template is already there and the park has plenty of land to spare after the back lot tour was nixed.

I am looking forward to seeing the creativity of Disney Imagineers go to work.

Love your post, but with regard to this, isn't Disney on record that they will NOT be bringing Cars Land to WDW as they don't want duplicate areas on east and west coast?

I could definitely be wrong on that (or Disney might change their mind, of course).

Not sure if it is a lack of desire in duplicating east and west coast so much as it is duplicating Test Track. Disney had no trouble bring Voyage of the Little Mermaid to the east coast immediately after opening it at DCA. But RSR, the featured ride at DCA, is built in the same platform as TT and it might not make sense to have two rides that are so similar...(cough, cough, Dumbo, Aladdin's Magic Carpets, TriceraTop Spin, cough, cough).

I wouldn't worry too much about the duplication of attractions.
If Disney wants to build something, they will build it.
Corporate mind-changing is a mainstay of business.

I get what you are saying. And for sure there is obviously redundancy around the parks, within parks, not to mention from one coast to the other. I guess I mean I had read that they didn't want to duplicate "themes" such as the "Cars Theme" would be. I think I had read they want people to feel there are solid reasons to go out west or come east, and that if you perceived the park opposite you to be a "rehash" or worse, duplicate, of the one nearest you, it would not ultimately encourage you to visit it.

It's interesting that so many including myself still refer to this park as MGM Studios. I think it will called Disney Hollywood Adventure to connect it with Disney Californa Adventure. I quite like just Disney Studios as it will encompass Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Lucasfilm and Beuna Vista Pictures.

To be clear, once the plans were solid for DCA in Anaheim, the park always had "Adventure" as part of its name.
First, "Disney's California Adventure."
Now, "Disney California Adventure."
True..but it's still not a thrill park, even with Adventure in the name, right?

I am hoping for something basic... Disney Studios? Honestly, though, I'll be happy as long as it's nothing to do with FROZEN.

I really hate Hollywood Kingdom  It sounds Six-Flaggy to me.

I think just calling it Disney Studios Park is on the right track. They own so many other studios it would allow them to encompass that as well, as mentioned above.

I like Disney Studio's as well. I don't think Hollywood will still be in the name. You have a big Pixar and Lucas film presence in the park and they are headquartered way north of Hollywood near San Fran.

As I've mentioned in other boards, I would not be a fan of an uninspired name like Florida's Adventure.

I would also be happy with:

Disney's Studios Park
Disney's Hollywood Adventure/Experience Park
Disney's Big Screen Adventure/Experience Park
Disney's Backstage Adventure/Experience Park
Disney's Live Action & Animation Adventure/Experience Park
Disney's Land of Hollywood Park
Disney's Portal to Adventure Park
Disney's Wonderment Park
Disney's Motion Picture Park

According to the (still-to-be-approved-and-finalized) expansion plans, between now and 2021 there is a desire to bring a studios "feel" back to the park, without actually going back to a working studio. So I think it's a good bet that the word "Studios" will still be part of the name.

Doubt whether they will have any "major announcement" until Avatarland is opened, or Star Wars IX is released. They can string along Star Wars fans for years without really committing to anything...as long as the movies keep coming out, they don't have to give us anything substantial. Look how much fans got fired up about one simple lightsaber design in the promo for the next film, I think half of us would have a coronary if they announced anything real. Except for Start Tours, the whole southside of HS could be wiped clean and expanded to the drainage canal and it still wouldn't be enough to satisfy the Star Wars' generations. (Now a Star Wars value resort would be a different story...).

Think I'd prefer Disney Movie Kingdom over Hollywoodland (save that for California)

Good points! You are probably right. IDK about Disney Movie Kingdom...
