Iger confirms DHS name change will happen

I think the word Hollywood will stay in the name somewhere. Too much theming for that already in place. I think they will basically remove studios and add something like Kingdom to match two of their other properties. Disney's Hollywood Kingdom.

I'm betting on Disney's Hollywood Adventure. I don't see how they drop Hollywood out of the name and with the Star Wars stuff...makes sense to me at least.

I'm hoping a name change to "The Studios" and that they will expand the park and better theme the areas to different studios. They can have a Hollywood Studios area for ToT and GMR, Pixar Studios, Lucas Studios, Muppets Studios, and Disney Studios. Maybe they could do something like bring back old wdw rides like Snow White or Mr. Toad for the Disney area. I can dream anyway.

I've got no problems with a name change. I'm likely to keep referring to it as MGM anyway.

The whole reveal seems like a setup. What six year old would ask a question like that? Plus I don't really buy into Iger "accidentally" spilling the beans.

Quite possibly I'm just being cynical as it relates to media.

Maybe a one-word name?

"Disney Hollywood Adventure" according to an ex-student who is a current CM at the Poly. Announcement of expansion April or August, I can't remember which one...I will ask again.

When we were there lat month, a security agent at Epcot and a well-spoken CM in the MK both eluded to a big Star Wars announcement "soon." I think the Star Wars expansion will be bigger than the Pixar rumor. But really, who knows ;)

I really hate Hollywood Kingdom  It sounds Six-Flaggy to me.

I think just calling it Disney Studios Park is on the right track. They own so many other studios it would allow them to encompass that as well, as mentioned above.

I really dislike the name of Disney's Hollywood Adventure. But I really like Hollywoodland. I wonder what it'll be... I guess I just hope that it's the last name change in my lifetime.

I hate hollywood Adventure, too. DHS is my favorite park and has been since I was a little girl. I'm not sure what changes would come to the park in order for it to fit with an adventure theme and, while I am not opposed to change, I worry that they will get farther from the classic hollywood feel and go more towards thrill rides. I like thrill rides but not at the expense of old Hollywood. Then again, maybe they will still have the classic stuff. I'm just not loving the Hollywood Adventure name. At all.

"Adventure" does not have to mean "rugged physical exertion" or "thrill rides."

The very common phrase "We're off an an adventure," simply means were going to do something fun or unique.

And, remember that dozens of classic Hollywood films have been called "adventures."

I consider visiting WDW, as a whole, to be an "adventure."

I understand what you are saying. My thinking is that if they are going to change the name, they are likely changing the theme of the park. Otherwise, there is no reason to change the name. If they are going to change the theme to include "adventure", I would think that they intended to include some high energy, adventurous experiences. If that turns out to be true, I hope that they don't sacrifice the old Hollywood feel they have going on on Sunset and Hollywood Boulevards. Also, the more I think about it, the less I like the name - theme change or not. Odd since I really enjoy DCA.

I believe early documents for BLT listed the tower as Kingdom Tower. To me, that sounded a bit too much like an LDS church building.

We still refer to it as MGM, too. It's a hard habit to break, sort of like how we still call Costco "Price Club"

Doubt whether they will have any "major announcement" until Avatarland is opened, or Star Wars IX is released. They can string along Star Wars fans for years without really committing to anything...as long as the movies keep coming out, they don't have to give us anything substantial. Look how much fans got fired up about one simple lightsaber design in the promo for the next film, I think half of us would have a coronary if they announced anything real. Except for Start Tours, the whole southside of HS could be wiped clean and expanded to the drainage canal and it still wouldn't be enough to satisfy the Star Wars' generations. (Now a Star Wars value resort would be a different story...).

Think I'd prefer Disney Movie Kingdom over Hollywoodland (save that for California)
