If you have metal in your body and cant have MRI

What are your other options? I am having a SCS spinal cord stimulator put in and will no longer be able to have MRI'S .. wonder if i am making right choice? What will the do if i need a MRI and cant do?

other options are becoming available with new equipment. I have 3 metal rods and 20 something screws in my right arm, so I am in the same boat as you. I forget what the other options are but you aren't sol.

I have rods and screws in my back from where it was broken. I'll trade the ability to walk for not getting a future MRI any day.

Yup, mine was the use of a right arm. I was hanging my right arm outside the window of a car (didn't your mom ever tell you not to do that?) when we were making a left hand turn and were t-bones by an oncoming SUV. My arm was sandwiched between the two cars. Luckily due to a freak occurance of the suv buckling just perfectly, they were able to save my arm. Not before 14 breaks, 5 dislocations, a bunch of torn muscles and other problems. 8 surgeries and 18 months of rehab gives me an arm with 90% strength and mobility.
