If you do split stay and take an Uber...

Bell service takes and moves your luggage from resort #1 to #2. Then mid-day we go to resort #2 and our luggage is there and ready. We have done a split stay several times and no problems.
We also do this but it depends on our plans for the day. If we’re already going straight to the other resort we take our luggage with. If we want to hang out at a park or the first resort then we let them send our luggage for us.

If you have hotel #1 move your luggage to hotel #2 be prepared to be without it until late in the day. We did this once and it took forever for it to show up. Now we just move it ourselves and leave it with bell services at hotel #2. This way when you're back at the hotel and your room is ready you just stop by there and pick it up right away.

Totally agree with this. It took 8 hours for our luggage to go from GF to Poly. Part of the delay was Poly bell services taking over an hour to bring our bags to the room. Never again.

Depending on what time you uber over, your room *could* be ready. It would be nice to throw your luggage right into the room. :)

This is exactly what happened to us except we went from Poly to GF...after that incident, we swore never again and started taking our own luggage.

True. If you want to waste a lot of time in the morning this is a great plan. If you are already planning to be gone off in the parks for the day, then who cares how long the bags take?

The 8 hours part could be normal (depending on what time you dropped them off). Bag transfers are not completed until approx 5:00, period. No matter what they try to tell you anywhere else, that's when they are finished so never expect bags prior to that. Anything earlier is bonus.
As to deliver once there, you can always go get the bags from the lobby for yourself. Just stop by on the way back to the resort that day (we often do)

It wasted almost no time when we did it last. We left our hotel, drove over to our new hotel and gave them our bags and walked over to Hollywood Studios. It maybe took 20 minutes and we were back in the early afternoon for a break when we got the text our room was ready and stopped to pick up our bags along the way. It was beyond inconvenient to not have our bags when they transferred them and we had access to none of our stuff until almost 7 at night. and that was moving from Bay Lake Tower to the Contemporary, not even leaving the hotel property.

Anytime we have them transfer our bags they always tell us they will be at the new resort between 3pm-5pm. Thus far, we've never had them be later than 5pm. I like letting them take care of moving the luggage on these days. I'm on vacation and just want to get out and enjoy my day.

When we do a split stay, we try to plan a park day or DS day so we have a mostly full day planned where we don't need our room. We usually plan a late start to the day so we usually check out around 10 - 11am. We drop off our bags with bell services and then it's off to play for the day. When we are done with our plans, we just head back to the new resort.

Have a great trip!

I would even go so far as to say, aside from transferring your luggage yourself, I would ask Bell services at the resort you are transferring FROM to hold it at the resort and then Lyft over to your new resort with your luggage only after your room is ready. That way you can take it directly to your room yourself. Ask your Lyft driver to drop you off at the building of your new room if possible.

Why?? For example I have been reading reports that Luggage is a mess at Pop Century and sometimes they just can't "Get to" your luggage delivery until very late, if not the next day. I believe that at certain resorts luggage is being outsourced to a 3rd party that is not doing a great job delivering it to your room in a timely fashion or is "losing" it temporarily. Another report that I read said that when a guest tried to pick up their luggage they were told that it was buried in the "Back" and they would have to wait until the staff could "get to it".

Welcome to the new emphasis on Disney Customer service. Expect more and more of this kind of thing as resort rates sky rocket and value, amenities, and customer service decreases.
