If we can DREAM it, we can do it! ..... another 30 day vacation Update 02/07

I love your CR pictures! It is so breathtaking in there. Too bad about the rain at MK, I hope that it didn't ruin your day!

also, my mom doesn't DIS or really go on the internet much at all but I was showing her some of your report. She was quite excited about your suggestion to stop at marker 88. She thought that beach was lovely. So thank you again for the suggestion!

Happy New Year!! OMG - that cupcake looks so yummy!! nice trade though - steak salad for half of a cupcake ;) I think we must be related - I would choose the exact same things as you do!

HAHA! Yes, we both teach!!! That is the obvious that kind of didn't ring a bell. I have never been out of the U.S. Your life just looks so free and easy... maybe one day I can finance a trip overseas. At this point, I have never even had a passport. My husband was in the military so he's been to many places...before me : ) Also, I just noticed that you spell your name just like my sister does.

That cupcake looks delish! Also very sweet. :goodvibes Nice you could just switch plates. :rotfl2: You have left us hanging - who is this mysteriously familiar voice?????

The Welcome to Disney World sign in the rain is different - actually pretty cool. I like it!

That cupcake looks AMAZING! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We always take pics of the "Arch to happiness" ;) but this was my first one in the rain and I am glad I took it. :goodvibes

The Contempo cupcakes are all very good and I just love peanut butter. But then, they are HUGE and I was happy to share. :lmao:

Looking down on all the hustle and bustle was just amazing. We really loved our short stay! :thumbsup2

I really hope you get to stop at Marker 88. And don't forget to bring your swimsuit for a quick dip in the ocean. :thumbsup2

Happy New Year to you too!

It was a really nice cupcake - though not my favourite of this trip. :lmao: ;)
Both the cupcake and the salad were really good and I cannot wait to "relive" my experience in February. :goodvibes

Oh, now I understand ..... lack of travelling overseas.
It's funny to hear that you have never had a passport. When we were kids everyone needed a passport even to travel within Europe.
And as far as travelling overseas is concerned. Until the 1990s I would have never even dreamed of travelling to the US. Everything was so expensive. Then in 1992 I took my first trip and it took a lot of saving up.
Since 2000 we travel once a year and since 2006 even twice a year, but we leave a fairy regular life, have no kids to support and we inherited the house Tom lives in. The only thing I book without any kind of discount is the flight and then I book those a year out when they are still more affordable. ;) It still takes some saving up to though. :lmao:
Say hello to your sister Karin for me! :goodvibes

Holy cats, that cupcake is HUGE!

It was, Cynthia and it was pretty yummy too! :thumbsup2

It was really good - and you are right, it was sweet - but then all the "sweets" in the US are sweeter than here in Austria.
Both portions were really large, so it was easy to switch plates.

Reveal of the familiar voice coming right up! ;)

Another cliff hanger! That food from the Contempo Cafe does look quite good. We may have to try eating there next trip. I have recently heard about it a few times.

Cliffhanger should be solved within the hour. ;) I am working on that update. :thumbsup2

We have eaten at the Contempo Cafe several times now and always liked their food. I really hope you'll give it a try one day. :goodvibes

Day 8, August 18

Spending time with friends - Part 2

While we were still happily munching away, I heard a familiar voice and looked up and saw some friends we had gotten to know on the Disney Dream the summer before, Elaine, Howie, Scott and Rachel.
We had decided to meet up later in the day, but they had had breakfast at Chef Mickeys and had noticed us in the restaurant. After talking for a short time they decided to wait outside until we had finished our meal and then we would all go up to our room.
A few minutes later we all went up to the Concierge Level, they all had a look around and then we headed to our room.

We exchanged presents and sat and talked and talked some more. Time just flew by and we hadn’t even noticed it. So, after quite some time we decided to all head over to the Magic Kingdom and within a few minutes we were at the turnstiles.

Many people must have chosen the same park that day, as the park was pretty full. We all enjoyed being in the park and decided to go on some rides together. What ride do you get on in this crowded park.
Seems, we all had the same idea and the People Mover was our chosen first ride.

Even that had a line, but it moved fast and we were seated on the ride and enjoyed a nice view of Tomorrowland from above. Soon it was time to get off again

and since we were right there and the line was only a 20 minute wait, we all got in the Buzz Lightyear line.

We had a lot to talk about and quickly we reached the boarding zone. Howie had given me lots of tips on how to manage a high score, but sadly I missed all the targets.

Once we had finished our ride, we admired our photos

and then headed towards the new Storybook Circus.

It was fun to check out the new area and once we were done we headed over to another fun show, Philharmagic.

There was little to no line and we found good seats and enjoyed the show with our friends. And after checking out the gift shop we walked towards the rose garden, where we found a friendly Photopass photographer who took a photo of all of us with a lot of different cameras.

Then it was time to say goodbye for the day. Tom and I wanted to get some things done and headed towards the exit, while Elaine and Howie stayed at the Magic Kingdom.
We slowly strolled down Main Street, checking out a few more of the shops, then stopped at the Main Street Confectionary.
The line was long and I was about to pass up on a treat, but they just looked too yummy. Since the line seemed to move pretty fast we got in it and only the people in front of us held it up quite a bit. They went back and forth on which fudge to buy and it took a long time for them to decide. Finally it was our turn and I ordered my treats, paid for them and then the CM behind the till offered everyone a sample of fresh fudge. You cannot say no to such a treat, can you?

Nibbling our fudge we headed towards the exit, just to be stopped after about 10 steps. There was a veteran helping out in the flag retreat.

We watched and when they were done we made it to the exit and walked over to the Contemporary. 10 minutes after we had left the Magic Kingdom we were admiring the view from high up again and since we felt a little peckish we headed over to the lounge.

To be continued ............

What a nice reunion! It must have been nice to be together, talking and making the lines seem shorter.

It was really great to see them again. We had so much fun on the DREAM and then at the MK. We really hope that our summer trips overlap and we might see them again. :goodvibes

So nice you got to see your friends! The Contemporary looks great- I loved staying at BLT, I hope to put that back into the mix sometime in the next couple of years. :)

So strange in Ft Lauderdale! I have to say, the only time I have ever been there was a few times for Spring Break in college- now THAT is a time when a door lock (and many, many other things) would get broken. CRAZY times......

It was awesome to see them again after we had had so much fun on the DREAM the year before. We spent even more time with them lateron and I really hope that we see them again in August!

We are staying at BLT again in February and I am so excited about it. The thought of just leisurely strolling over to MK makes me smile from ear to ear. :rotfl2:

Yip, Ft. Lauderdale ..... now that is a whole other story. Three times been there and didn't find it too appealing. This summer we'll just stop at Pompano Beach for the night. ;)

Yeah for a DIS meet! :cool1:

And double yeah for a quick walk to the MK! :cool1::cool1: I have to say I went on the DVC website today to check points at BLT for a spring trip (2014), but sadly the calculator didn't go that far ahead.

The fudge does look quite yummy!

Seems I am two updates behind again. But they were worth catching up on. Although we would never stay CL, those goodies there sure looked enticing.

How fun to meet up with some of your ship friends and spend some time at the MK together. It's funny...the Peoplemover had a line when we were there in September as well as last month. :confused3

Love the photopass picture of the entire group.

Aren't DISmeets the best? ;) :thumbsup2

The lists for 2014 are up on the DVC website. I checked and for VGC the points are the same as for 2013 (surprising!!! :lmao:).

The fudge was super yummy - really fresh. :cloud9:

You had a lot of other things on your mind, Kathy and you were an update machine yourself today. ;)
We loved the Concierge stay - wish I could afford it more often, but it really spoils you! ;)

Meeting Elaine and Howie and the way we did was super fun! They are really nice people!

My new Disney goal is to stay club level, probably AKL within the next year or so. Who knows I may do it this year if a great discount comes out for my usual dates.;)

I'm one of those people without a passport. I almost got one several years ago as I wanted to visit Europe. Then September 11, 2001 hit & I lost a lot of my desire to travel overseas.:worried:

Club Level is SO awesome, Doris. You really should go for it. It's over the top service. :thumbsup2

It's funny that you should mention 9/11 to dampen your travel plans. Different sides of the ponds, different opinions.
We have always been shocked at how little security there was before 9/11 on US carriers compared to European ones. I think 9/11 made air travel a lot saver as security now is tight. It might result in some long lines, but I'd rather wait a few more minutes than be in danger.
But I still try to avoid US carriers if I can. Not always quite possible but across the pond I am always going for European. :lmao:
