IF Staying at Park Vue Inn (PVI) You May Want To Read This

First of all that really sucks Jack. Always has been one of my fears when staying at hotels on vacation.

We always check the beds and linens at every hotel we stay at. I will lift the entire mattress and go through things right after I take that first few shots of the room. (standard protocol for a guy who likes to take thousands of photos to remember the vacation!)

I've heard they get carried in people's luggage. Some from people from outside the country.

Hope your family is all ok and better Jack. Take care.

You are right, bedbugs do like to travel on/in luggage, which is a great reason to not place your luggage right on top of your hotel bed.

Jack- very sorry about your family. I'm at PPH and I met a family last night that was frantically washing all their clothes at 10pm last night. They had just left PVI after finding coachroaches in their beds & clothes. So your family is not alone.

Ew! Oh my goodness, that's disgusting! As someone who works in the hotel industry this is really...disturbing. Have you actually talked to anyone about what they can do for you? Like a manager or a supervisor? It's good to know you're not letting something like this ruin your trip to disneyland though, but that's really unacceptable. I hope things turn out great for you. pixiedust:

Thanks -- I searched through the first few pages in this thread to try to find it and gave up and decided to ask -- I wasn't about to go through all 7 pages in 'hopes' of finding it. Is it really so hard to just write the full word the first time and then use abbreviations thereafter?? It would save everyone a whole lot of trouble and annoyance! Besides, that is the way it is done in newsprint, and really is proper "netiquette".

:lmao: I'm sorry but after this whole thread, that was hilarious!

The way I feel in this case is... "When in Rome." I don't understand every acronym but that doesn't mean I expect everyone else to change to accomodate me. More people understand them than don't, so majority rules in that case, and they do use it for convenience. Sure it's a little learning curve if you're new, but there were plenty of times I would even just Google the acronym to find out what it was. Takes just as long as making a post complaining about other people using acronyms. ;)

I'm sorry this is off topic, but on the subject of bedbugs...I was wondering on a recent trip, as I placed my suitcase in the overhead bin, what the likelihood might be of having them hitchhike onto my luggage from someone else's? Then I wondered about the airplane seats...do they ever hop off a previous passenger and later, onto a new one?

Wow.

That's terrible Jack, your poor children!

We will be cancelling our reservation for October now.

I will make sure I state why and perhaps give a link to this thread.

Newsprint is written by paid news writers who are in the business of writing news.

This is a free online community of Disney fans. We do not write articles. We post short snippets of written dialog. Well, not always short, but usually short.

As for proper netiquette, I have been a daily Internet user for 10 years and that is news to me.

Wow, Jack! That is just craziness...they just said, "Sorry"????? What?
We stayed at Park Vue at the beginning of July. We had no bug issues and a good stay. I can't believe they only said, "Sorry." So lame and terrible customer service. We were thinking that we'd stay there again on our next trip, b/c we had a good stay and the location was fabulous; however, I'm re-thinking based on your experience. My husband said we should email them with a link to this thread and ask them if they had addressed this issue yet. Perhaps anyone considering an upcoming stay should do this. I definitely agree that if you're going to cancel, you should tell them the reason and cite this thread/issue. I would also post the pictures and their response on every online forum that pertains. Their handling of this situation sounds totally unacceptable.

A car accident? First I hope you are all OK. And second, maybe it is time to try WDW? ;)

Wow Jack! It has been a rough few months for you. Rest up and relax so you can gear up for another DLR vacation and a stay away from PVI!

EEK! A car accident, and bugs?!? Hope everyone is okay!

As for the whole acronym thing, I just find the dispute rather odd. I've grown accustomed to certain acronyms and they do naturally come first. (I mean, really- who naturally thinks more of For Your information then FYI??

I think if you don't know an acronym, you just ask. I do find everyone here really friendly and helpful. I know last year, when I started here, I waited a bit to post, and then read the abbreviations sticky, or just asked if I didn't know.

Do you think they are going to say "Well no we have not addressed our bed bug issue." Of course they are going to say they have it under control. I am sure Jack will take care of this issue and keep everyone informed. If they do not have someone from their motel reading the dis along with other DL sites shame on them. I know HOJO has a couple of staff members that do keep up to date on posts here and will answer questions about their resort on these posts. Not sure I would give Park Vue Inn any information on what Jack is thinking. I say let him give them a big DON'T MESS WITH ME surprise. Please do not let my post offend any of you and please no flames for me.

To the Blackjackdelta family I am so very glad you are home safe. I am sure your dad will make sure there were no bed bug hitchikers.

To any travelers take time to check your mattresses and chairs/couches before bringing your luggage into a room. There are instructions on the net with how to properly look and locate bedbugs should there be any in your room. A motel can not make you stay in a room infested with bed bugs -- In some states ( not sure if all) it is against the law to even rent out rooms knowing there is an infestation. Trust me desk staff knows better.

I truly do know how it feels to keep having one horrible thing after another happen, we are still in the midst of it. I hope you are all ok.
We just had a great stay, 8 nights at PVI in July. never had any issues at all, but like so many here, I trust your opinion on everything to do with Disneyland vacations so even though our room was great, no bugs, good housekeeping etc. they are off my list of hotels to stay at until we get the word from you that the situation is completely resolved to your satisfaction. Even then I'm not sure we will return. I am another one who thoroughly checks our room before bringing in the luggage. under the mattress, and along the seams looking for not just bugs, but the evidence they may have been visiting there recently!! under any chair cushions. check in the bathrooms for cleanliness etc.
Please update us as much as you can as to how the situation with PVI is going.

I'm sorry Jack..your family has really had a time lately. (now..why did you boot your wife and kids out of the DLH (( That's Disneyland Hotel..located on the Disneyland Resort Property, folks)) and into the PARK VUE INN?

Hope everything is OK Jack. Wow...it has been a tough couple of months!

Hydroguy...I love your stickies! When I started visiting these boards,I was confused as well...but I had the COMMON SENSE to print it off and referred to it when I was reading posts. It has been like this for the 3 years that I have been posting and never once did it cross my mind to ask the people who were posting, to accomodate me by typing everything out, to make my life easier.Get over it people!:badpc:

Jack....so sorry this has not been the happiest trip for the family...:grouphug:

But I just wanted to say :bday: party: I hope that you have a great day pixiedust:

I think Jack and his wife were staying at the DLH and the kids at PVI. Sounds like the kids were having problems at PVI and only told their mom about them during the vacation rather than telling Jack too. Really nice of them if they did that so as not to spoil Jack's Disney vacation after everything that had happened, but too bad they didn't mention it sooner to try to get more help in their situation.

Sigh.:sad1: Why? Why, people, why? This thread has already received a few reports since yesterday due to several rude posts.

This thread has gone way off-topic and become increasingly hostile. If you would like to debate abbreviations, please start a separate thread about it in the Disneyland (DL) Community forum. Do not continue the abbreviation debate in this thread.

The people who choose to use abbreviations are free to use them and, if they'd like to, they may refer to HydroGuy's list for assistance in figuring out what's what. Also, feel free to ask other forum members and moderators what certain things stand for. It's pretty easy to pick things up as you go along.

The people who do not wish to use abbreviations are free to not use them. There are some folks who do not prefer abbreviations, and that's fine. They are just as welcome to participate in these forums as everyone else is.

The bottom line is, people on either side of the argument should be not chastised, badgered, ridiculed or insulted for choosing to communicate in the way that they feel most comfortable. Usually, people find a way to get their point across and it works out just fine.
