IF Staying at Park Vue Inn (PVI) You May Want To Read This

I think Jack and his wife were staying at the DLH and the kids at PVI. Sounds like the kids were having problems at PVI and only told their mom about them during the vacation rather than telling Jack too. Really nice of them if they did that so as not to spoil Jack's Disney vacation after everything that had happened, but too bad they didn't mention it sooner to try to get more help in their situation.

True.

Just got home, had a car accident, will go into the drive tomorrow. My daughter said she pulled the BBB rating today, its an "F".

You all have a good night.

Jack

We hit a rusty car manifold in the middle of the highway, in the shadow..it was either that or a head on...not..had no where to go.. tore the underside up coolant and god knows what else every where. The truck is in Bend, Or at a dealership..there are no car rental places open in Bend..thank God that AAA found me a vehicle to use so I could get home...every one is safe but they were very shaken...long story short.

That's awful. I'm glad you had some quick thinking and it wasn't a head on. I hope the repair bill isn't crazy.

Glad to hear you are all OK. You and I are on a bad luck streak! Hang in there!

I hope you don't live anywhere near the fires up there. believe it or not the fires in Washington and Idaho have been sending haze all the way to central Colorado since last week. Our home and office were pretty near the Waldo Canyon fire in Colorado Springs in June but in that case we had good luck in the end aside from being merely evacuated - unlike hundreds of others who lost homes here.

Sorry I got involved in all the offtopic hijacking. I agree with a PP that you might want to use the advanced editing feature to change the thread title from PVI to Park Vue Inn so a higher percentage of folks will understand the focal point of your bad experience.

Cheers!

Thanks Trey, I will try to find it and use it. We are south of the fires but a huge amount of smoke, the fire east of Redding is a monster, looks like an atom bomb went off.
I hope you are feeling better slowly and no damage to the kidneys, stay safe my friend.

Wow Jack! So sorry it's been a rough go! I'm glad the rest of the vacation went well. In my experience bad things happen in 3s so you should be done now :) thank you for reporting back about the PVI and your kids experience. It will save a lot of us from the same fate. I have cancelled my PVI ressie for tomorrow as soon as I read this post and will stay at my old stand by Del Sol.

What an extraordinary bit of bad luck. Here is hoping things turn around for you and your family soon.

Goodness, Jack. Glad to hear you are okay.

Sounds like you were near a major town when the accident happened. That's one good thing. There are some lonely stretches of road between home and DL. I grew up back East where there is a highway exit every mile or so. These Pacific Northwest roads take some getting used to. My kids kept referring to various horror movies as we drove along...lots of Jeepers Creepers type trucks too!

Jack, I know our experiences make us who we are but I seriously think you have had enough. If I had a magic wand I would give your family a big huge do-over. Here is wishing things settle down a bit for you and yours.

Thanks for the info Jack! One of the most asked questions on this forum are from people asking for help and opinions on the local hotels. It's great to have such feedback to help others make an informed choice. We rely on the regulars to help with the good and the bad and to report back:) So thanks for doing that and potentially saving others from the same headaches you and your family have experienced:flower3:

Jack- very sorry about your family. I'm at PPH and I met a family last night that was frantically washing all their clothes at 10pm last night. They had just left PVI after finding coachroaches in their beds & clothes. So your family is not alone.

Gah!

Do you think they are going to say "Well no we have not addressed our bed bug issue." Of course they are going to say they have it under control.

Well, as I was saying in my first post in this thread (though it's entirely possible that my post was invisible LOL), the hotel where we experienced two *small* roaches apologized immediately, were mortified, had a bug guy up before we even were able to move rooms, and gave us a renovated, amazing, room for no extra charge. *

So, yeah, I do expect a place to take responsibility for it, and not just pretend it doesn't exist.

*Even though *we* weren't overly concerned with it, knowing they were under renovations and knowing that the bugs come out when that happens. (also, in thinking about it, it's entirely possible the bug guy was already there, and was spraying, causing the little suckers to scatter and show themselves)

Oh, and for anyone who hasn't been to Florida (but plan to), just know that "palmetto bugs" (aka huge flying roaches) are common, and have *nothing* to do with cleanliness at all...people find them in their hotel room sometimes. My mom was one of the cleanest people in the world, who kept her house spotless, but when she lived in Florida there were palmetto bugs that showed up in the house every so often. Note: hairspray works to kill them if you don't want to stomp on them.

Glad everyone is home safe and sound!! Hopefully your car will be home soon too.

Besides all the drama of the undesirable accommodations, I trust you and your family enjoyed Disney. I love the pictures you post, thank you!

Have a "Happy Birthday" today!!!!

Take care

Geemo

I am sorry if you missunderstood my post to prior post. :(. I just wanted to mention that a motel that did not seem to want to take responsibility for the "bedbug" issue would probably not take responsibility to a caller over the phone.

Owning a condo in Hawaii for the last 15 years ( cry cry we are selling due to health issues :( ) I understand how proper maintance/ pest control has to be taken seriously.

Even if I did experience a roach in a motel/hotel to have that hotel/motel take care of me like the one you stayed out would have me always returning to stay there as I would know they valued my comfort while at their establisment.

Again if I offended anyone please know that was not my intent.

Glad you and your family are safe and sound!!! Wow what a holiday!
Hopefully you get somewhere with PVI!
Take care

I stayed there once! That was enough for me. Beds like concrete, sketchy rooms, it was only one night THANK GOD. I don't care how close they are, they are NOT WORTH IT! There are 50 other hotels just as close and CLEANER! I did post a negative review of another hotel on T.A. (Alpine Inn, I gave it 2 stars) it's still there. Doesn't mean they dont take stuff down, just sayin.

Hit em with all you got! Their doors need to be closed! Hey, maybe write that new Gordon Ramsey show HOTEL HELL!!

Quick update, they did not return my phone call yesterday or the complaint form with phone number. Was told a manager would call me me in 20 minutes 40 minutes ago, did receive their automated survey(LOL), so I am at work and we will see why the roaches and the poor CS. I will report back later.

Waiting to hear on the $$$$ damage to the truck, hopefully they can fix it so I can go get it this week end about 10 hrs total there and back.

Thanks for the well wishes, I sure have many friends here.

Jack

As a follow up, I did speak to one of their managers who felt that since the staff had not logged a compalint about the roach bugs and maid service there was nothing they could do. They did lock down the room today and called in an insect abatement company and will do their investigation. I am sure that this does not happen to many people and they have had complaints in the past....the manager was very nice but no resolve. He did tell me the Health Department had been there and they were clean, I will be following up with the owners and BBB...which seems hard to locate.

I totally agree about online reviews being taken with a grain of salt. We own a small business. We don't do much for an active online presence. We have had two "average" Google reviews, the latest being about four years ago. So we only look so-so if you look at our reviews. That doesn't really bother me. What does irk me is Google calling us every couple months trying to help us "fix" our "bad profile." Of course it always involves us paying Google some money!!

PHXscuba

I don't think that's Google calling. We get those calls at my restaurant too.

To me, it sounds like the hotel just dropped the ball on this one yet again. The one piece of information they did give you however, was that the hotel desk clerks did not even bother to log a bug report before you left, and that just shows... they did not even care and never took you seriously. The report would have taken less then 5 minutes, and could have spared countless people in the process.

A manager saying sorry, does not make it right! It's another word for go away already! With no resolution to you, other then "we will investigate!" That is the answer they should be giving their boss, or the hotels owner... not a paying guest.

From myself, I say thank you for attempting to save other travelers a potentially dreadful experience! I know many will never read this forum... and in the end, it will most likely never hurt the Park Views bottom line. But I hope at least a few do read this forum and by word of mouth reduce the hotels ratings enough that they have to shell out the cash and run the hotel the way they should have! Or are forced to lower their roach motels pricing's.

Personally, I would have searched and posted on every Disney forum out there to ensure my words were more widespread however.

Please do follow up and keep us posted... I for one, because of your report will NEVER stay there and I will make sure everyone I know avoids them also.. It might not help you much with your complaint but rest assured, it will hurt them.. in their poclet book!!! Thank you for letting us know!!!
