If DME wasn't free would you still use it?

I've been wondering about this for a while. I believe the press release for DME stated the service would be in effect during DL anniversary celebration for free. There was hedging regarding whether it would always be free. I'm curious for those who have used DME whether they would continue to do so if it was not free (due to the other perks like baggage check in etc).

I thought of the recent article in the Orlando Sentinel re taxi drivers, limos etc being effected. In 18 months will DME be the only game in town and therefore it won't matter when they start charging as they will not have any true competition?

It would depend on the cost. I just used the ME on my trip this past week and it took me 2 hours from the time I got off the plane to my arrival at the Allstar Music resort.
I know with a Town Car service I would get there in about an hour. Also with a Town car you leave the resort 1 1/2 to 2 hours before your flight not 3 hours like ME. I realize they do this because they go to several resorts, but when I came home this past Wednesday I had checked my luggage with Us Air and went through security and was sitting at my gate by 6:35 for an 8:25 flight,

Ditto on it depending on the cost. On the one hand, I always intend on renting a car anyway, so getting one at the airport isn't much more of a hassle...but on the other hand, I LOVED being able to get my boarding pass and check my luggage at the hotel, and not having to stand in those interminable lines and schlep my crap all over the place.

No, won't use the free service now, didn't use it when it was Mears Transpo buses, and won't use it if they start charging for it.

Like my rental car!

herc.

I would probably say no, unless it was really inexpensive, and even then I don't know. I really like using a car service. I love being able to stop at a grocery store on the way in, and being a bit more flexible about my pickup time for my return trip to the airport.

Depends on teh cost. I might. I dont leave the resort. If it was cheaper overall than the town car for the three of us probably. If it ends up more, nope.
