If BWV got rid of the pool's clown facade...

I never understood why there was a clown there to start with. When I think Boardwalk I don't think circus, I think amusements. But if they were to replace the clown I think a disney character with big ears would be the most suiting to go there: Dumbo or Goofy would make sense.

The pool area at the Boardwalk is called Luna Park after the second major amusement park at Coney Island

Dumbo or Goofy would make sense.

Goofy gets my vote. think they have changed the paints to lighter colors.

don't like that clown at all - stayed there looking at the silly thing for 5 different trips - last trip looking at the clown - started dreaming about it - nightmares.

now get standard view and go to the community pool...:confused::rolleyes1

Looking at Luna Park photos online (and not BW Luna Park), a full moon slide might be nice.

The screaming noisy kids at Stormalong Bay scare me more than my beloved Clown at BW. They can have their overated crowded pool area.

Scott---BW since 98

ditto (and we own at both:rolleyes:). and replacing the clown would be like putting high intensity lighting at VWL, replacing the sand at BCV with mickey head sequins, installing a screaming pumba in the AKL lobby, redesigning HH at OKW with big goofy ears, and/or redesigning the exterior of BLT's TOWL as a HUGE BLT sandwich....DVC resorts are designed as true to their period with elegance and taste (and only subtle "Disney" designs)......no, no, no, no, NO to changing out class for crass!

Just thought of this. How about another side of the clown so you wouldn't have to see his face???;)
:lmao: that was hysterical!

or..... make the slide entrance the "other" end....i'm not sure if that would make the slide less popular (little ones, etc) or more popular with just about anyone over 8-10yo, including adults that laugh easily and well :) (would looooove to see those school compositions on "what i did on summer vacation")

OMG.... that was really funny deb/bill - i don't think i'll ever be able to look at luna park again with giggling :rotfl:

Didn't mean to start any resort wars. It's all good to me, and actually, the clown certainly is unique.

I just got back from BWV and I thought "What if they surprised everyone and got rid of "Pennywise'?" ;) I wouldn't want it to be a Disney character. It's just too much Disney marketing. I like the resorts to have their own separate charms.

I'll say straight up - I don't like clowns. It's the live, in-person type that bothers me though. When I was very young I decided that only people with something to hide wore heavy makeup or masks (outside of Halloween that is).

When sitting at the BWV pool there's just too much going on with all of our senses for the clown to bother me. Disney can keep it, tear it down or whatever they'd like to do with it and I really doubt I'd notice right away unless I read it here first.

They'd replace it with a big scary spider. They'd have to keep the theme of "scaring the ***** off of the guests" going.

Sorry but the clown is just weird and my son's doesn't like it. I will take a sand bottom pool with kids over a creepy clown face anyway.

I doubt my Grand Daughter would even notice the Clown face, all she would see is the SLIDE !! LOL

One of my daughters brought the clown up yesterday. She is not impressed.:rolleyes2 I told her since we are staying i. A preferred view room, we may wind up with a view of it. She said they should play the music from psycho in your room if you have that view.:rotfl: My youngest loves the Boardwalk pool. It doesn't bother me at all.

Apparently Disney isn't to concerned with people's clown phobias since they made Dumbo circus themed complete with a clown gang, I doubt they are going to get rid of the boardwalk clown.
