If all females were to fall off the face of the earth, would the human race dissolve?

I was thinking about the scene in Jurassic Park, when the mathemetician was explaining how just because they had all male dino's didn't guarantee they would not multiply. That nature evolves.

Say there were no more females. Would the human race disappear? Would it evolve so that males reproduce? How long would the evolution take?

I have no idea. This is why I don't think.

I think the race would eventually die off...and here's my reasoning (based on the reasons from the Jurassic Park movie)...

The DNA they "found" in the fossils was incomplete or degrading, so they used frog/amphibian DNA to fill in the holes. Frogs/amphibians CAN be asexual (meaning they can be either male or female based on the environment, if necessary). Thats why the animals in Jurassic Park were able to also be asexual, and become male and reproduce.

Humans don't have that capability, at least not naturally...of course that doesn't really take into consideration cloning or other methods of fertilizing an egg and growing a baby.

But...what do I know, I'm not a biologist... ;)

The race would die off because even if humans could evolve so that men could reproduce no man could handle childbirth! :rotfl2:

Well, I think after the party is over party: The ones that sober up will be pretty upset when they don't have any clean underware left. :rotfl2:

geez...I'm such a geek...

Yes, the human race would die out because there would be NO women to have babies. The dino's in Jurassic Park were all FEMALE, so that makes a difference in your argument. Females could be artificially inseminated in some way and life could continue but men would not develop a uterus fast enough for humans to survive.

ITA!!!!! ::yes:: There is no way my DH could handle the pain.

As a totally unbiased female....YES, YES, and YES! :rotfl:

I don't think so. I think as long as there are frozen eggs lying around they could be implanted into a man. I seem to recall reading that a man could theoretically carry a child.

Now of course we're assuming that all the men left haven't drunk or fought themsleves to death with the lack of feminine influence....

My husband delivered a kidney stone, while all the doctors told ME that this was equivalent to women having babies! Please, my babies weighed 8 and 9 lbs. I have never seen a rice sized baby yet! If it is up to the guys, I think they are doomed! ;)

Or they might kill each other who is going to carry this baby & deliver it?

No, a guy cannot carry a child.

But, if all the women fell off the face of the Earth, men would still be wrong. But they'd be wrong with beer bottles all over the place, which would be fine with them, I'm sure.

:headache:

Do you know where men would be today if it weren't for women? Still in paradise! Thanks Eve...

But, even though women are evil, I still love 'em.

I certainly don't think we could evolve fast enough to get to the point where men could reproduce asexually, but I still think there's hope.

If all the living women spontaneously disappeared, we would first go to our stores of frozen embryos and eggs from various couples in the process of fertility treatments. There's got to be a way to incubate a child--it may take several tries, but I think we'd figure it out. Once we were able to have girl babies again, we could both have them reproduce and also harvest eggs and store them. Eventually they'd repopulate.

At least, that's my theory...

Good Lord, they would never leave the house after a week or so if they are anything like my husband. He would still be waiting for the underwear fairy to come and put clean underwear in his drawer! :rotfl: :rotfl2: ( I swear he thinks there is one that magically puts clean clothes back in his drawers and closet ;) )
