Idling Bus issue

The dependency on A/C is astounding... I always get ill when I enter an A/C'ed area from an outdoor one... despite living in FL myself and several Western deserts, I just did not use A/C very much except in rooms where we had temperature-sensitive pets.

I am against all idling vehicles from an asthmatic perspective. It really bothers me that Disney chooses to be environmentally non-friendly JUST SO guests have access to another environmentally non-friendly choice. It's like giving away the Styrofoam cup with a plastic straw when you could sell the guest a re-usable bottle.... or a cashier putting your purchases into a plastic bag automatically without even asking if you want it. grrr stop making the unkind option the desirable one!

I would rather be on a hot and stuffy bus with NO A/C, heading to Disney, than be on public transport that is hot with no A/C and no Disney!

Maybe they should just throw the bus into the rotation and keep it moving. When it's needed elsewhere pull it out of the rotation as quickly as possible (should be less than 20 minutes time) and move it where needed. Yes, idling takes less fuel but to do that for more than an hour bus after bus? Just use it.

The problem with staging at resorts like SSR and OKW is the parking is directly in front of your room area unlike all the other resorts where parking is a distance from any room areas. We thought about the solution of -why not just turn the bus off-we don't care if the bus is PARKED but not running. It is a parking lot...but then we thought the poor bus driver can't sit in a hot bus or have the guests experience a hot pickup. So not a solution. Disney Springs could be a solution- they have a huge area and the old bus stop area isn't even being used. They could stage there it's a few minutes away. Just some thoughts. Thanks for all the feedback. I'm sure if people keep experiencing this we will hear more about it.

I thought the old bus area is being used by Taxi cabs. Or are they somewhere else now that the second garage is complete?

I dunno about you, but that A/C on the buses at least helps with keeping the B.O. smell down some on all the smelly, sweaty guests. Florida is unpleasant enough (heat and humidity wise) for most of the year, so heaven forbid people want to cool off and have a nice bus ride back to their resort.

Disney actually has done lots of work to make sure their buses are eco-friendly. As far as other parts of your statement, the Disney Store has now gotten rid of plastic shopping bags. They give you a reusable tote now when you make purchases. I'm not sure if that change will be seen in the parks, but it is a branch of Disney. As for your comment about the styrofoam cup and selling the guest a reusable bottle... How many times do you see a guest throw those out as well? Some people don't know any better and some people just don't care.

Also, Animal Kingdom park and the AKL (Jambo and Kidani) have strict rules in place about no balloons and such for the sake of the environment and the safety of the animals. You also will not see plastic straws or plastic lids, again, being eco-friendly.
