We have an annual talent show at our church for Valentines Day. My DS and my niece want to do something for it. He is 9 and she is 7. Last year they did a song called God Loves to Talk to Little Boys while they're Fishinig - except they changed it to Little Kids....

Anyway, we are having trouble coming up with an idea for them this year. Just wondering if anyone has done anything like this, has any ideas, or a place to look for ideas.

By the way, it doesn't have to by "churchy", just not inappropriate either!

Thanks!

Magic act?
Have you heard the song from the new muppet movie 'life's a happy song'? That would be cute!

How about acting out a story? In one elementary talent show that I saw, 2 kids acted out The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein.

One child read the book, and the other child was the boy/man/old man. They painted a tree on stacked cardboard boxes, and each time the man chopped down part of the tree, he would take away one of the boxes.

Also, he kept going on and off stage for quick costume changes (a baseball cap for the boy, a skateboard for the teen, a suit jacket for the man, and a cane and beard for the old man.) It was very cute.

And the story has a nice message for a church setting.

Good luck to the kids, whatever they choose.

maybe they could do a veggie tale song.
Do a comedy act knock knock jokes or what not

How are they at memorizing things and delivery? My kids used to do Who's on First at that age. DD had a Disney Princess baseball jersey she'd wear and they learned to do it pretty well--nothing inappropriate in it at all.

Er, what are their talents? :confused3

Well, that's just the thing - they are typical 7 & 9 year old kids. Neither one plays an instrument or anything like that. They both have a pretty good voice though, so in the past, they've sang a song. But, I love some of these other ideas too.

We don't have a huge church and they like for the kids to participate, so I try to find something for them to do.

When my daughters were younger, they always did something together, so with DS being younger, it's good they he has his cousin to perform with.

I'm going to run these ideas by my sister and try to narrow it down.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas!
