I want a tattoo

I've always wanted a tattoo. DH thinks it is trashy for girls to have them. I think it is wild and sexy. I'd never get it anywhere that would bee seen by the world, but I'd sure like to get one.

They do look pretty bad on old guys, though.

The laser treatment I underwent @ 5yrs ago was @ $500 1st visit, then got cheaper by $50 each visit til @$250 where it capped off, I had about 8 visits....so I spent @ $2750, underwent MASSIVE pain, they give a local anesthetic which hurt like a blankety blank....then lasered the area (certain lasers only work for cetain colors, so each time focused on a different color)...then I went home & cried while my ankle swelled like a balloon. Then it drained & healed & I went back for more. It is still not gone, only very faded, but you can still see it if looking for it.

I stopped treatment when I left to get married/honeymoon, 5 yrs & 2 kids later, I dont have it in me to finish, hoping it will fade over time. I will NEVER EVER EVER allow my kids to get a tattoo.

Because nothing says tramp like Winnie the Pooh :rotfl2:

I think you should get the big one with the animation. But you have to get the animation to go with it. :woohoo:

Ok, really? I like the little one. If you get any of the bigger ones have them make them smaller. I have a big one on my ankle and I wish it were smaller.

I have heard, although I don't know from experience, that the average tattoo is between $1500 to $2000 to remove. I do know that black is the easiest color to remove, while greens and yellows are hard, as well as red.

PS, my tattoo was a rose, red/green/black/yellow....the red is mostly gone, black is semi faded, green is the least faded., there was only a tiny dot of yellow, but thats not very faded - so i agree, DawnCt1 - GREENS & YELLOWS ARE IN FACT HARDEST!

Well, he was a Bear of Little Brain. :lmao:

poohluvers, thanks for the info. I knew that the lighter colors are harder to remove. I have some white in all of mine, so I know that won't go away at all. Ugh.

Actually I did have a small amount of white too, which I forgot aabout as it is no longer noticeable, Im not sure if its b/c it was such a small amount or if the lasers got it, but the white is actually gone. Good luck! :goodvibes

I wasn't going to interject, but surely Dawn, you do know that tattooing originated from Polynesia and the maritimers (sailors, etc.) adopted the art form and brought it to the Western world, right? Polynesian women have been known to get tattoos on certain parts of their bodies. I see no problem with women getting tattoos.

To me it stands for co-opting an art from from a native people and making it part of our contemporary world. I really have a problem when people are using Asian words (I am part Asian) as tattoos which don't usually translate well or aren't gramatically correct. That's really bad.

Women have been doing this for ages. :wizard:

There is a lot of "art work" and cultural "decorations" that we can incorporate from a variety of native cultures. How about those neck elongating rings so often used by certain African tribes. Then we could all look like giraffes. Personally I like those huge plates inserted into the upper lip. Gives new meaning to lip enhancement that women are paying plastic surgeons huge fees to do. I think if you are a Samoan King (like the man at the Polynesian Cultural Center) then perhaps tattoos have a place in your life, but for most of us, it just doesn't work. I very much agree with you with regard to Asian words. I think its a double negative because too often it isn't even personally meaningful, they just like the design. The barbed wire around the upper arm is another story.

Ah geez! I have 5 tramp-stamp permanent reminders of 5 permanent feelings. I love love love all of them (I posted them awhile back - including a DisneyQuest Mickey head....)

I'm a stamped tramp. :thumbsup2

Me too! I'm thinking about a Mickey head for my third one... CathrynRose do you have a picture of your DisneyQuest one that you can share?

I've considered that version since I wanted to do something more abstract....

I have decided on the little pooh 'sitting'. I like it cause it is small and I think it is adorable.

Here's my "Tramp Stamp". It's on my lower back. The little blue butterfly is in memory of the son I lost in 2003, and his name is under the flower. Much more then a "permanent" reminder of "temporary" feeling.

Yep - I had no black outline on this one, I love it! It was hard to find an artist willing to do it without the outline though. :confused3 : On right shoulder:

OMG....the dragonfly on your foot is so cool!!!! how bad did that hurt??? I would love to get one like that!!

Oh no, put me in for one of those people who would love to get the courage up for a tatoo! And....from reading this thread I've just realized I want to tramp stamp myself!!! I had back surgery in 1997 and I get those horrible scars. I would like to tatoo over my lower back scar. Does anyone know if it is more painful to go over a scar? I keep telling myself I'll do it as soon as I loose the pounds...not sure what happens to a tatoo if you loose weight.

Looks like I can research images on the computer, I didn't know that. I have NO idea what I would get. But I want it to mean something, like symbols for love and happiness or something equally corny. Maybe family. No names.

Loved the pictures people posted, would love to see more!!!

Of course it hurt - but keep in mind... I got the little flowers before I got the Dragonfly - and went back and got the DragonFly so it cant be THAT bad! ;)

I seen a cute Tinkerbelle tattoo last year online and now I cant find it. She's laying down on her tummy with her face propped up on her hands. Has anyone seen that one? That's what I want to get for my second one.

I have my tat on my lower back, I guess a true Tramp Stamp. I am not sure if tattoos can be put on scars. I would suggest finding a good tattoo place and go and talk to them about it. Also while you are there you can look at their "flash" artwork and get some ideas of what you would like to get. As for the weight issue, if you get a tat on your lower back and it does not go too far out to the sides, losing or gaining weight should not be a problem.

I can't post pic's here, but if anyone wants to see my tat, just PM me with your email address and I will gladly send photos of my tat.

I love my tattoo, it's 4 little black cat paw prints walking down the inside of my right hip paw:

Patricia

I say go for it!!!!!

I like these two Pooh's...but it has to be something you like and talk to your tattoo artist about the size etc. I shocked all my friends and family and recently got 3 tattoos...all Disney related. They have all told me that I was the last person on earth they thought would get a tattoo!!!! My latest tattoo is Dory from Finding Nemo (it has special meaning to me). It is on my back between my shoulders...it was so funny last week at the grocery store I had a tank top on and a little boy said to his Mom that I had Dory on my back and he asked if he could see it. She asked if I minded and I said I didn't. He told me it was a cool tattoo!!!!! I just found it funny to hear a five year old tell you that you had a cool tattoo!!!!

I don't think that having a tattoo changes who you are. I am still the same person even though I have permanent artwork on my body. I am a professional and I didn't become a "bad girl" because I now have tattoos. My tattoos all have special meaning to me and I don't care what people think of my tattoos...I got them for me. I also waited 10 years to get my tattoos and I'm so glad that I found the right tattoo artist and shop that was able to re-create my designs exactly how I wanted them.
