I visited the community boards for the first time and...

I too, visited yesterday for the first time, and saw lots of debate.. and thought, "no way!" I want to come here to dream, talk Disney, and so far i love this board (all the WDW related boards here that is!) .

As for the holidays, we go in Nov, and everything is decorated, and it is beautiful! You will have a ball!!

Yeah... tired to get into that board but I just got scared off. I only keep up with one thread from there and it's just a TV show discussion. I posted a couple of things looking for support but that didn't really work out for me.

I come to the boards to talk/learn about Disney... and that's rarely done over there... so I feel more comfortable here and at the resort/dining boards.

To FigmentGuy, another Figment fan over here :wave2:

Yes the CB is an art of sorts... you have to have the art of knowing what to skip over :rotfl2:

Sorry to hear your first CB experience was not great. I'm a regular over there and try not to get crazy debates. I will have to agree with some other posters on this thread that there seems to be a few people over there that just want to debate every little thing and stir up as much trouble as possible. They really bring down the mood in my opinion.

As for Chrismastime, I have no idea! I've never been at that time, though I'm DYING to go and see all the lights and costumes. It will be beautiful I'm sure after seeing so many other's pictures.

December is my favorite time to go - hope you have a ball!
One thing that we always get a kick out of is the World Showcase Players - at that time of year they usually do "A Christmas Carol". They are in England, in the street by the tea shop. Show lasts about 15 minutes - lots of laughs.

Now this is a great tip-Thanks :thumbsup2 I'm going in December too-anymore? popcorn::

yikes! The first thread I went to was a knock-out, drag-down fight about the Episcopal Church and gay rights. The next was about a 6 year old boy who fell from a ferris wheel and died.

I don't know about you, but I come on these boards to escape the real world. I get enough of the real world in my real life - here I want to dream, plan, obess, read, and fantasize about Disney!!!

Soooooo, let's talk Disney!

Yikes is right! I'm totally with you on the escapism and the planning and getting great tips...we're going in December too! Sounds like they are channeling Jerry Springer over there... :smooth: :furious: ...Seems like these boards of all places should be a place for civilized discourse :confused3

:goodvibes The great thing about the lights at MGM is that while they are special, the crowds make no difference. The park can be PACKED and you're going to see the exact same thing. I actually like it busy for that because it makes you slow down and enjoy it! And if they still do it, GET THE GLASSES!

The Community Boards is like a different world. I went there once but will never go back!!

That's what I used to say about the Debate Board. Then the moderators closed it and all the debaters looking for a fight went over to the Community Board...it actually used to be a lot of fun over there. That's why they finally came up with this smiley...popcorn::

I like the Welcome Board, too. Most of the new members aren't in a fighting mood...... yet.

We love Montana....we go every summer, DH goes every other winter. We are building a log home between Butte and Whitehall, at the Pipestone Pass. Are you familiar?

I am a CB regular, and I had no idea we were so scary!

Honestly, I have seen some pretty ugly threads on the Resorts/Restaurants, and yes, even this board, that out-ugly the CB anyday.

Refillable mugs, anyone? Sneaking that 5th person into a value resort? Adults ordering off the kids menu? Do I even need to say the B word?

Right now there is a pretty raging debate on the Disney for Families board, about the proper age to stop taking your opposite-gender child into the bathroom.

I really don't think the CB people are any worse than anyone else. Just because we like Disney, doesn't mean we have to agree on everything.

tons of heated crap on the "families" board too.
there are some weird, freaky people in the world. AND in the World too.

Ugh, when I see a 10 year old boy in the bathroom next to my five year old girl- i am gonna 1) puke 2)scream 3) embarrass the hell out of the kid and his overprotective parents

Even if The Osborne Lights area is crowded, you really can see everything. The crowd keeps walking, it's still very enjoyable. I'd hate for you to pick one thing over another.
Epcot has a tree lighting ceremony every night (around 6 I think) that is wonderful. IllumiNations has a special holiday ending every night that is not to be missed.

As for the CB, it does seem to be rather cliquey at times.

lol :rotfl: -and according to many of them they will either give it right back or won't care.

Episcopalians love the Candlelight Processional!!!! I'm sorry, I couldn't resist!! But, seriously...it is a beautiful show, brings me to tears every single time I see it. I love the storytellers in each country in the World Showcase. I love the different tree lightings....the snow at the Osbourne lights..the decorations in the different resorts...even like MVMCP. I do like to do the party and go to the different shows. Yes, I like to do the attractions but they can be really packed. Christmas time is a terrific time to visit WDW..you are going to love it. I'm looking forward to my third Dec trip this coming Dec!!!

Why would you feel the need to embarrass a child like that? :sad2:

I have been on these boards for years, and you are one of the few posters I have ever seen that is just consistently nasty!

I get that you don't want the kid in the Woman's restroom, but come on! The fact that you would handle, or rather not handle the situation like that is ridiculous!

Uh, on the original topic... :)

Seriously, we went last December, and it was wonderful. Of course, it was a little, shall we say hot for the Christmas decorations, but that didn't matter.

Special things? We went to see the American Adventure, and got there a little early, so we waited inside. First, there was a story teller telling the story of Chanukah. Then the Liberty Singers came on, and did a wonderful rendition of many different songs of the season. Well worth our time.

The Osborne Lights were great because they were simply walk through. We were there for dinner at the '50s PTC, so we just strolled afterwards.

We missed the Christmas Carol in England, but my DD6 loved La Belfana, the Italian Santa Claus. I found her story fascinating myself, because I had never heard it before.

Most of the music playing at the Pop, where we stayed, were novelty Christmas songs. One, heard many times, was something about a grandmother's encounger with reindeer. :listen:

And, of course, Country Bear Jamboree has a special Christmas show, which means that I'm being dragged to the regular show this September. :sad2:

Great time to go.

That was funny..... :rotfl2: However, back to Christmas, I am going Dec. 2-5th and can hardly wait, it will be my 3rd time going! I got to see CP last year, it was Cicely Tyson and she was great. :thumbsup2

Um... :confused3 , excuse me for asking but what's the B word? :confused3

B is for breastfeeding, whether you should do it, where you should do it, how long you should do it, etc.

I just came back from the other side.....the CB boards...
:stir: :stir: :stir:

Anyways, I agree, maybe the CB is to keep those darkhearts away from our boards! Who knows!

Yikes! I've never been called a "darkheart!" You might be surprised that many of us who post on the CB frequent the "Disney" boards also. My love of Disney is what brought me here years ago. Some of us get a kick out of debating. That's all. Nothing wrong with that!
