I visited the community boards for the first time and...

What is a tag fairy?

The tag fairy is someone who picks something odd or funny out of something you post and copies a part of it, in a color, and puts it under your name. If he/she hangs out at the CB no wonder I have never gotten one, although I have to admit I don't generally try to be funny around here. I mostly enjoy asking questions about WDW and helping others when I can. Debate is everywhere though. I know I have gotten into a few over the years on severaly different boards on the Dis. Personally, I miss the debate board. At least you KNEW going in that everything brought up over there was a HOT topic :furious:

I am a CB regular, and I had no idea we were so scary!

Honestly, I have seen some pretty ugly threads on the Resorts/Restaurants, and yes, even this board, that out-ugly the CB anyday.

Refillable mugs, anyone? Sneaking that 5th person into a value resort? Adults ordering off the kids menu? Do I even need to say the B word?

Right now there is a pretty raging debate on the Disney for Families board, about the proper age to stop taking your opposite-gender child into the bathroom.

I really don't think the CB people are any worse than anyone else. Just because we like Disney, doesn't mean we have to agree on everything.

Don't forget homeschooling, taking the kids out of school for Disney, and trying to pass a 3 year old off as a 2 year old to name a few more! And go over to DVC and read about how awful those renters are and owners who rent for a business....YIKES!

yikes! The first thread I went to was a knock-out, drag-down fight about the Episcopal Church and gay rights. The next was about a 6 year old boy who fell from a ferris wheel and died.

I don't know about you, but I come on these boards to escape the real world. I get enough of the real world in my real life - here I want to dream, plan, obess, read, and fantasize about Disney!!!

Soooooo, let's talk Disney!

I'm going in December and am so excited about hitting all the holiday themed events. Christmas is very precious to me - I can't wait for the Candlelight Proc., MVMCP, and Osborne Lights. Any words of wisdom or juicey pieces of advice from December veterans? Any little known events that I should hit?

Thanks and I'm so glad to be back in the trip planning forums!!!

If you want to escape the real world, then the community board is not for you. This site can become very agressive at times. :furious:

tons of heated crap on the "families" board too.
there are some weird, freaky people in the world. AND in the World too.

Ugh, when I see a 10 year old boy in the bathroom next to my five year old girl- i am gonna 1) puke 2)scream 3) embarrass the hell out of the kid and his overprotective parents

I hope you're prepared for the boy's parent to respond in the same fashion. :chat: :hyper2:

The CB isn't any worst than all the other boards. You can find heated threads all over the DIS.

SW's boarding policy, lap children, and the issue of peanuts on flights can get heated on the transportation board.

How to use dining plan credits on the dining plan board.

I hated my stay at __________ on the resort board.

Why are guest rude on the Theme parks board

Any thread on any board that compares disney to universal

Any thread on any board that deals with pulling kids out of school for vacation.

Comparing DCL to any other cruise line.

Any thread that deals with DCL adding a casino.

Any thread comparing OKW to the other DVC resorts

These are just a few. Believe me the planning boards aren't full of pixie dust. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

excuse me if I missed it, but... did anyone mention poolhopping?? It's amazing how many people on both sides of the issue have had their vacations ruined over it!

I actually miss the debate board. I never had the nerve to post, but enjoyed reading some of the battles there.

Now, I mostly stay at the Budget Board. Trust me, there are a couple of debates there as well. The lastest boiled down to whether rich people had the right to tell poor people had to budget/plan their financial lives.

Take any of the boards for what they are--a fairly anonymous vehicle for people from many social, political, and religious groups to come together and speak their mind. Occasionally, that may include them feeling as if they need to justify their own lifestyles. When I read, I often think "Whatever!"

Don't forget:

1. Using refillable mugs year after year

2. On the DVC board the resort bashing about SSR :stir:

Bad news, folks. This one has become a C-Board thread. Put your hard-hats on.....................!

I was wondering how long it would take for this to get over here :rolleyes1

Oh, this is gonna be fun popcorn::

I was just waiting for this to happen! :lmao: I saw it on the other board and knew it'd end up over here eventually.

Kind of like gossiping about someone and then realizing they're RIGHT behind you. :rotfl2:

NMAMY :rotfl2: :rotfl2: My thoughts exactly.

Some people need to develop a tougher skin and if you don't like the thread skip it. Geez. Wait, even on a Disney board, the world isn't a magical place? :rolleyes1

Ever since they shut down the debate board other boards have gotten some of that 'debate' overflow. The CB is usually a pretty funny board though. They have some hilarious people.

Is there some sort of statute of limitations for blaming everything on the closing of the debate board? :confused3 Seriously, it's been closed for years now, yet it's still mentioned as the culprit everytime someone says there's mean people on the CB.

I don't see the CB as scary at all. And honestly if it were all sugar and spice, I'd leave. I highly enjoy and appreciate hearing different points of view. Over the years, it has helped me look at my own world differently and appreciate what other people are feeling. Does that make sense? Now, just because I disagree with many of you on this thread, does that make me scary?

If it wasn't for the CB...I'm not sure I'd have a clue what was going on in the real world! I get most of my news from the folks here...they're better (and faster) than any other site I know of! :rotfl:

It's the best of both worlds here...a love of Disney and open discussion on a wide range of topics.

ckay, the only thing scary about you is that pic in your sig.

I strayed to the Resorts board last year....haven't had the courage to return. :lmao:

:rotfl: wvjules!

I used to like the resort board years ago but it is a much scarier place now than the CB could ever be even on a bad day.

I really had no idea that so many on the trip planning boards thought that us CB'ers are such a scary breed! Speaking of breed we have not had a "breeders" debate for quite some time... ;)

I actually don't mind the debates being on the CB. I used to really enjoy the DB and I used to join in from time to time and I never really saw the harm. I love Disney and fluff as much as the next person but sometimes it is nice to actually use my brain and learn something too. When I am in the mood I will read the debate threads and when I am not I skip them....it is not hard to do and I never understood why others could not do the same. The threads are usually pretty easy to identify as fluff, exchange, gossip, debate, etc..
