I thought 7 was supposed to be a lucky number?? Sept TR **Life & PTR Update 5/11**

More Main Street pictures before the tour start:

Since it was about time to meet-up for the tour, I headed here:

Does anyone remember me saying it poured the previous night? I know, it was a while ago in this TR, but if you want some proof on how much it poured, here it is:

Can't see it? How about this one:

That is an elevated flower bed, with about 1.5" of water still in it. I say still as it had stopped raining hours earlier, the roads and such were all dry but the flower bed was so saturated with water that it couldn't absorb it all and so the water stayed on top for a while. That's a lot of rain!!!

NEXT TIME: NO PICTURES PLEASE, BUT LOTS OF INTERESTING FACTS TO SHARE!!

First and foremost, I'm so happy to see you back on the Dis! I've missed you my friend.

Second, I love each and every picture that you posted. From the walk to the bus stop to the ones of the Magic Kingdom, they were all great. I'm looking forward to hearing how you liked the tour. I know several people who have been and they really enjoyed it. I'm calling Disney tomorrow to book it for our May trip.

Thank you, I have missed you too!

I'm so excited for you that you're adding the Keys to the Kingdom tour! I'm sure you will absolutely love it. :)

Welcome back! I hope everything is going well for you.

I can't wait to find out more about the Keys to the Kingdom tour! :thumbsup2

Yeah, you're back! :cool1:  So glad to see you back on the DIS.

I cannot wait to read all about your KTTK tour as I will be doing it in two weeks!

I loved all of the empty Main Street pictures. I was a little disappointed to find out that there is morning EMH on the day we booked our tour so I won't get to see the empty Main Street that day.

I'll be doing an update about it later today. :goodvibes

I really need to get caught up in your PTR!

Yay for KTTK tour in 2 weeks. Sorry you won't get empty Main Street, but I know you will enjoy the tour!

I know you all are probably tired of hearing this, but sorry I was away so long! I had the flu for about ~2 weeks, and just now got caught up on everything I couldn't do when I was so sick. So, back on the DIS to get these updates done and get cracking on finishing the TR!!

Be back in a bit with an update for you all! :goodvibes

DAY 2, SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH, PART 2

Promptly at 8:30am my guide, Rachel, came out to great us and we were off on the tour. I don't want to spoil the whole tour for people, so I won't tell the secrets you learn along the way, but I will say the tour was great and even knowing as much as I do about WDW and MK in particular, I still learned quite a bit.

I will say the tour route we took. We started on Main Street, stopping occasionally to learn things. We then made our way to the Hub, then Adventureland and Frontierland. We went backstage next to PoTC and walked around behind it and Splash Mountain. We also got to go over to the warehouse that holds the parade floats and walk around inside a bit looking at them. When we got done there we headed back onstage and headed over to Columbia Harbour House for our lunch, around 11am. We got to sit in a private area upstairs and they quickly brought up the meals we pre-ordered before the tour started. I sat next to Rachel and she thought I was a CM, since I knew the answer to so many of the questions she asked. I told her no, I just visit often and belong to the DIS! :lmao:

Once lunch was done we got to ride the one attraction we were picked to do for our tour, Haunted Mansion. That happened to be Rachel's favorite attraction, and she told us facts (in our earpieces) the entire way. Some things I knew, some were new facts and some were things I knew but didn't know where they were in the attraction.

Once HM was done we headed into Liberty Square, then went backstage again near Crystal Palace. Once backstage we headed into the Utilidors, and walked around a bit, trying not to get run over by the vehicles down there! I can't remember what they call the vehicles, but they are basically big golf carts. After our utilidors tour we went back out backstage again (behind the Emporium) and then onstage again and the tour was over at promptly 1:30pm. I very much recommend this tour to anyone, whether you know a lot about MK already or not! I really enjoyed it.

Once I finished the tour I headed into the Photo store and picked up my PP+ card. As I walked down Main Street I stopped at a photographer and got my first magic shot, Tinkerbell!

After my picture session I headed into the new Main Street Bakery for my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the trip.

I know a lot of people don't like the change, but I was happy for some Starbucks! The Main Street band was playing, so I stopped to listen for a few minutes...

I drank the latte down pretty quickly as I walked toward the Hub, stopping for more PP pictures. First 2 are my camera (it was a bit windy!) and second two are the PP pics.

Apparently everyone loves the popcorn at WDW, even non-humans!

I hung a right at the Hub, and headed toward Tomorrowland. I stopped to take some pictures first....

Then stopped at the PP at the Rose Garden for a quick shot (he was polite, but rushed everyone though the pictures). First is my camera, second was him.

Once my pictures were taken I headed into Tomorrowland, and headed straight for Space Mountain.

The line for Space was a little long, so I grabbed a Fastpass (going to miss the old system the next time I go!!!). The FP was for only 40 minutes from then, so I went over to Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. There are some new things added to the theming and the video to reflect Monsters University's release.

The show itself was funny as always! A few jokes always referenced MU.

I still had time before my FP for Space Mtn so I went next door to ride Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. The posted wait time was 10 minutes, but I was on in less than 5.

For unknown reasons Buzz was not working that day, and instead of seeing him there was a curtain across that said "Star Command".

CONTINUED IN THE NEXT POST

A couple more pictures while in line and on Buzz

Not a bad score either!

It was time for my FP by then, so I walked over to Space Mountain. The stand-by line was 25 minutes, but I walked though the FP line until I was at boarding with about 25 people in front of me.

And my ride picture for Space

I walked back over to Buzz since the line was still only a couple of minutes long.

This time the button on my shooter barely worked, only working about 1/4 of the time. I got a couple shots at a high target so the score wasn't horrible, but definitely lower than my last ride.

I let the CM know when I got off about the sticky button, then went over to get my ride photo.

My next ride up was the TTA/Peoplemover. Surprisingly there was quite a line for it, though it was moving non-stop and still only took me a few minutes to get on.

I was soon in my own cabin and relaxing as I zipped around Tomorrowland.

Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow!

I was done with Tomorrowland, for now anyway, so where should I head next???

NEXT TIME: SOMETHING NEW FOR ME!

As I believe I mentioned before, the tour is high on our list to do. Originally, we said that we were going to do it this trip but now we are considering going over to Universal for a day so we have a decision to make.

I love all of your pictures and the Photopass pictures! Like you, I think that I am going to miss the old paper Fastpasses. I say that but then I may fall in love with the new FP+ system after using it. :confused3

Whoo Hoo, new updates!!

Mom and I really enjoyed the KTTK tour two weeks ago. I agree that it is a must do for all Disney fans. We got to see rehearsals for the new parade and I can't wait to see the finished product when I go in May!

Awesome wait times for everything in Tomorrowland I guess that's the advantage to going in September. We saw 70 minute waits for SM a few weeks ago.

I do love all the new touches in Monster's Inc that refer to MU. My brother, much to his horror got picked to play Randell. :rotfl:

I hope you get to do the tour soon, if not this trip then maybe next year!

I like the idea of the new FP to a degree, but will miss the old FP system for sure!

I'm so jealous you got to see the new parade rehearsal. We got to see the testing the lights on the floats.

It's definitely nice to go during slower times, as you can get so much more done.

I've never gotten picked for anything during Monster's Inc, but someone sitting next to me did in September!

2 weeks with the flu... brutal. :faint: I'm glad you're better now!

The tour looks like a lot of fun. It really is too bad that you can't take pictures of some of the stuff though. I completely understand why you can't, but how awesome would it be to have your picture in front of one of the parade floats??

You really made the most of your time in Tommorrowland after the tour was over. That's a great way to kill 40 minutes while waiting for your Space FP. And yes, it is times like this that will make me miss the old system a lot. I'm definitely not sold on FP+. I was trying to explain how it works to my parents and my dad just got a blank look on his face and said it sounds like they'd be better off just doing away with FP altogether and make it the way it used to be. :lmao:

Thanks, that was the worst case of the flu I have ever had! Several people at my work were sick around that time too, so we were spreading it around.

I also understand why we can't take pictures, but would have loved to take a few, especially the floats.

I'm trying to hold off judging the new FP+ until I get to try it, but I am skeptical for sure.

Announcement Time!!

So I know a couple of people already know this thanks to Facebook, but for the others.....

I'm going to WDW in May!!! :woohoo::yay: My trip will be May 20-26th, and I will be doing a PTR, though I'm going to wait a bit until I get more of this TR done. I'm also waiting to find out if a friend will be joining me, which I should know in the next couple of weeks. And I'm also still trying to figure my plans out, as I had my days organized until the announcement earlier today that MK will be open 24 hours May 23-24th. Trying to figure out how to re-arrange my schedule to possibly do that. So, I'll be updating this TR soon (I'm house sitting without my notes right now, so it'll probably be Sunday when I get home) and I'll post here once I start my PTR for the May trip! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

We just booked for May 22nd through 26th for the 24 hours on the 23rd. Hope to see you there!

DAY 2, SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 8TH, PART 3

Once I was done in Tomorrowland I headed toward Fantasyland.

I stopped to get a FP for Peter Pan...

...then kept on going past the new Rapunzel restroom area too.

And into Liberty Square. I wasn't at my destination yet though, but I will pause to tell you one small secret from my Keys to the Kingdom tour that morning. Look around in WDW for all of the bird houses. They aren't really there for the birds, they are the secret speakers that you hear music being piped out of throughout the parks. Here is one in Liberty Square.

Finally I made it to my destination. Something I know I have never done as an adult, and don't remember doing in my 2 trips as a kid. What is it????

The Country Bear Jamboree! The room was only about 1/4 full when I walked in, with 8 minutes until the show. I took some pictures in the waiting area until we were let in. Apparently I was into light fixtures that day, which you will see more of later as well!

As I waited for those minutes to pass the waiting room filled up. It was starting to get hotter, so I guess lots of people wanted the AC for a while! Once we were let in I went all the way down an aisle and sat next to these guys:

A few minutes later the show got underway.

I enjoyed it! It was funny and entertaining, and I definitely plan on seeing it again in the future.
