Know how when you mouse over the deck plans while making a ressie, and it tells you what kind of room it is?
Such as:

Stateroom 6670
Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom
Category: 8D
Connection to: 6672

When I do this along deck 5, in the aft Cat. 8D cabins, starboard side, it lists 8 cabins that are cat 8D. Yet when I look at the photo posted by HallsofVA, it only shows 7 portholes on deck 5 aft.

Then when I mouse over the most aft 8D cabin, starboard side, it reads:
Stateroom 5680
Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
Category 8D

I could not reproduce same results on the port side though. May be a glitch in their computer. It's way past my bedtime so I couldn't test on other decks too. :guilty: I have to get up for work in 5 hrs.
Time will tell for sure. I hope whomever sails in that cabin in Jan can post some photos of the view! :goodvibes

There are 8 Cat 5E's back there, then 7 Category 8D's, and then 3 Category 6B's.
And it's the same on both sides.

Disney knows about the problem on their website, and are supposedly fixing it.
5680 is definitely a 6B.

We've had quite a discussion in the special rooms thread about this cabin, and it's mate on the other side, showing as 8D (I was able to get 5180 to show as 8D the other day), and another cabin showing as 6C instead of 6B on the virtual deck plan.

Many folks have called DCL, including my TA, and the CMs say it's a mistake. However, I encourage everyone to keep your eye on these cabins, along with the other obstructed verandah cabins highlighted in the 1st post of the special rooms thread, since it seems like too specific to be just a casual mistake!

yep. Maybe it's just the angle of the photo but it looks to be a very obstructed view. I wouldn't want to be paying the same as the person next door in 5182 or 5682.

Looking at the picture, I bet you are right. Look at the top corner the view would not be the same. I tell you what though, not that much of an issue that I would not book it. Great observation.... Leave it to DISers I tell you! Can't wait until a DISer sails in it to let us know for sure!:goodvibes

The Dream has quite a few rooms priced the same, but with a huge difference in the size of the rooms and the verandahs. Specifically, the aft corner 6A's and 6B's are MUCH larger than the same category rooms right next door.
I'm really hoping they address this issue, or there will be a lot of people who will feel the same way you do.

Oh, yes. :thumbsup2 I tried to get those too but all were taken. Those are like living in a cul de sac with the big back yard. We all know a builder would charge a premium for those lots.
Why would DCL leave them the same as the reg rooms next door?

We are in 5680 and I am watching to see IF they do change the pricing. When we booked it was that or 5180 for the 6B slots. Deck 5 seems to have more "open" than decks 6 or 7 but I knew it might have been obstructed when I booked it based on the ships pictures.

You'll notice that seldom does a random category find iteself all alone among a sea of another category. The cabins at the aft are all designate one category (based on deck) and for us lucky folks who know what we're doing, we can try and snag those cul-de-sac rooms. I did and I am very excited.

Only the other cruise lines that I've been on, they have the same shape in the back of the ships, with the nice corner rooms, and they charge more for them. Most call them a "premium balcony stateroom".

I'm REALLY surprised that DCL isn't charging more for these rooms, and I predict that they'll change that. I can't imagine Disney NOT making as much money as they possibly can.
Either that, or they may end up re-fitting those rooms to make them handicap accessible.

JMO, but I also think that rooms #6678, 6178, 7680, 7182, 8674, 8176, 9664 & 9164....and possibly even 5680 & 5180 should be categorized as "obstructed view", and be priced less than the rooms behind them.
