I think Disney should start enforcing end times on fastpasses

who woulda thunk when I started this thread that it would generate so much discussion:)

While I agree 100% with you and think it would help the standby lines as well... the reason Disney does not enforce it is because a family cannot pick their FP time. So sometimes they conflict with other scheduled events (ADRS, TPL, BBB, Parade, etc.) Instead of hearing everyone's sap story on why they're late, it's just easier to let them on.

Can't say with certainty, but I believe the new Next Gen idea is going to allow people to select their return times, so they can return when it works for them, and then those times will be enforce. At least, that's what I'm assuming.

Respectfully disagree with OP. Sorry you had to wait. I find that annoying too.

I think Fastpass works pretty well overall...sometimes there's a glut due to park movement (e.g., parks parade or shows), or due to weather changes, or due to ride being down earlier. But overall, so much better than the old days of waiting 90 minutes for any "E-ride."

I might be for this if the time-window was bigger...like a 2-hour window. Regardless, I don't think it would really make that much of a difference.

I know this will probably get some discussion going but after having just waited 30 minutes in the fastpass line for soarin I really think Disney should start enforcing the end times. Especially on the more popular rides like soarin and TSM. When you start waiting 30 minutes in fastpass then it really defeats the purpose. Many of the people I was in line with had expired fastpasses.

:rotfl2: Are you sure it's not April 1st?

I'm surprised all the people in line were willing to show you their fastpasses. I would find that weird and intrusive.

I was wondering the same thing. We have never shown our FP's to anyone else other than the attraction CM's.

I did not ask them to show me. The discussion started with one couple mentioning that the were surprised that they were let through with expired fastpasses. It just took a few minutes for everyone to chime in that they also had expired and never worried about end times.

I was thinking about starting a thread that involving parents who try to pass their 8 year old's as under-3 but make them ride in stollers and then take them into the opposing sexes bathroom all while reserving lounge chairs and reserving spots in line so that their children, who wear go-go boots so they meet the height requirement for every ride, can take flash photography on rides.

i agree with op. that is the one thing that those that say, that it doesnt make a difference dont take into account. the possible glut of people in the fastpass line.

I was all for Disney enforcing the FastPass expiration time until I realized it really doesn't make a difference anyway. Once it does, Disney will start enforcing it.

We too waited a while in the FastPass return time for Soarin'. And the people behind us even longer because we were the last people let into that group of riders. But it still beat the heck out of waiting in the stand by line.

So instead of complaining about waiting 30 minutes, think about how long you would have had to wait in the stand by line.

Anyone want to start a petition to the mods requesting a FastPass-only FAQ sticky? My glass-half-full mindset wants to believe it would reduce the sheer volume of FP repetitive threads.

we were very concentious last summer with FP times and tried to be in the window if possible but conflicting things DO happen,, and you don't know when you put your card in necessarily what time the return window will be. And if you think about it some won't even come in the assigned window you have they will be late so the late comers you get in your time make up the diff,, that's how I look at it.

Does this motion require a second? If it does...

SECOND!

I'll chime in here and say that Soarin' is one of those rides that loads in bunches, rather than continuously. I don't know the particulars, but a 30 minute wait in the fast pass line is pretty typical of our experience during most of the day. I think it's totally unfair to judge the fastpass system by Soarin'.

I literally just laughed out loud! Thank You!:rotfl:

I second this motion!

As for the OP and your question. IF Disney ever chose to enforce the end time and that is a huge IF, you will most likely see the system reprogrammed with a much longer return time.....and not just 2 hrs. It will most likely be 4 hrs.

I think they allow it to remain the way it is, because it encourages people to return during that one hour time frame vs coming back much later (so they play on the ignorance, but will voluntarily tell you that you can do it later).

Personally, we think FP works well and like the system.
