I really need a hug...

Thanks for the hugs everyone.

I told DD that she is going to have a new K teacher. She looked confused, then asked me why.:( At this point, she probably thinks that she'll have a new teacher every week.

If my DD has a difficult time adjusting to this change, the principal knows that she'll be seeing me on a regular basis.

Hugs to you, Rita and hope and pray that DD does adapt quicker than you think. From one who has battled the school system for the past 13 years for my son, I feel your pain!!!
Hang in there, Mom!

{{{{HUGS}}}} Rita... I do hope that everything works out and that your DD doesn't have a hard time adjusting.

I wish that there was something that I could say to help........ :(

{{{HUGS}}}

Just wanted to add my good wishes here, Rita, and a hug. Hoping things go better. As Kim said, we never dealt with the public system, so no advice from experience.

Hugs,

Dan

Rita,as someone who has spent the last year fighting to get the correct schooling for my DS age 13 who has Asperger's,sometimes you just get worn out and sick of fighting the education people who make the craziest decisions, they are suposed to be the experts:mad:

I'm sure your DD will be absolutely fine.My eldest DS many years ago when age 5 was in a class that had a job share, one teacher 2 days and another three days. Many parents were very concerned about the continuity of schooling, care etc. but it worked out very successfully. It won't take long before this class is all your DD remembers, she won't remeber the previous chages for very long.Their lives are so full of new and exciting things every day.

Good Luck to your DD:bounce: :Pinkbounc

When my DD was in kindergarten, they said the school was too crowded and they set up a satellite classroom in a neighboring church. (The pastor's wife was a Kteacher, what a coincidence! ) The deal was that they would go there for half of the school year, and switch to the regular school for the other half when the school group would go to the church.

The church had two classes separated by a partition. There was one helper who was to assist both teachers. What did they do? They rolled the partition back and made one big giant class of close to 50 kids.

Meanwhile, my DD came home with wet pants on more than one occassion because some of the kids would lock the stalls and crawl out. She couldn't get the door open and would have an accident. The teacher assistant had her hands full and couldn't monitor the situation.

When it came time for the two groups to swap places, they said that the church school was such a success that they were considering keeping the kids there. Well, this was one Mom who was fed up and made sure that the original plan was followed.

It's terrible that they jerk these kids around and think "oh, they're young, they'll adapt." My DD couldn't understand why she didn't go to the "real school" with her brother.

Fast forward and many frustrations later, we eventually sent all 3 of ours to Catholic HS. It was the best thing that we did. Should have done it sooner.

OTOH, (and this is coming from a mom of a hard-to-transition kid)

You achieved your primary objective. You got your daughter our of the nightmare of a teacher's class she was in the first week. (If I'm remembering the story right.) She's in a better situation in a class of 19 than she was in a class of 25. If it gets bigger, it'll happen during the year, not in the beginning, when it's so important to have a smaller class as the kids and teachers get to meet each other.

You're right, this week, she'll probably be wondering if she gets a new teacher next week. But by next week, it'll be old hat. Really. I'm amazzed at how much better my child does with transitions and stuff in school than in real life. That's what I learned the kindergarten year!
