I ran over our dog...

The dog was growling because he was hurt and scared. If he needed stitches, he must have been bleeding pretty badly after you ran over him. For his sake, I hope he is feeling better by now.

Mommytotwo...
Glad to hear that the dog is doing fine... {HUGS} and *PD*

If I witnessed a scenario where individual runs over a dog and then allows it to go to the back yard without trying to take the dog to the vet, or at least calling a vet to get an opinion it would make my blood boil followed by a call to animal welfare.
When one gets a pet have it be a dog, cat, rabbit or any other animal one assumes all responsibility that goes along with caring for that animal. ::yes::

I hope the dog will be OK! As the original poster stated it at very least needed stitches so I’m assuming it was bleeding while it waited for medical care I’m sure the dog suffered quite a bit of pain as it was pinned under the car. I stand by my original post!

:( :)

I'm glad your doggie is okay, you must have felt just awful. I understand being in shock, it can make your head just not work right!! (meaning maybe what you were typing to us wasn't coming out as clear as you meant it to)

good luck!

Hey waughzee.....April 1896 offsite? Love it! Made me laugh and I needed that! Sometimes feel as though I could have actually been there then myself! :teeth:

You took the words right out of my mouth!!!!

I'm glad your furbaby is getting the care he needs. I hope he is feeling better very soon. I'll keep him in my prayers.

OMG...First I would like to say I'm sorry. Not just for what happened to the dog but for the way you were treated here. The way I see it, you tried to call the vet. When you couldn't get ahold of a vet you came to a place that you thought was friendly and helpful. You specifically asked if there was a vet here.

Her dog has been run over folks, you're yelling at her because she's online but the fact that she didn't resond to almost two full pages of responses has to at least tell you that she's trying to do something. Even if you are just keeping an eye on the dog until someone comes to help get a near 100lbs dog into the car, do you expect that person to take a lot of time out to write long, lengthy replies?

Maybe some of you should take a big, deep breath. The dog is at the vet and being taken care of. If you have a dog that big that is injured, it could take a few people to get that dog in the car. My sister has two dobermans and one of them got in a fight with a wolf or something. It took her, her husband and her husband's brother to get that dog in their car. When a dog is hurt he is scared and defensive. And not all vets will make housecalls...and if her vet's phone was busy then he's probably not going to have time to come out to her place to sedate her dog to take him to the vet. She could have called another vet, but maybe she felt more comfortable with the one that knows her dog the best.

I just think you guys were way too hard on this lady who was probably already really emotional.

I love dogs myself, but Im going to have to agree w/ princess Aurora, she explained why she couldnt load the dog, she had to wait for her dad to come and help. A heavy injured dog could injure her before she could get it to the vet. Allthough its great that everyone cares so passionately about pets.

Just today, this morning, on the way to my son's school there was a dead dog laying in the middle of the road in a residential area. Beside this little mixed breed dog was a Lab standing over him, he wouldn't leave his side! (the dog knew something wasn't right!) Traffic was having to go around these two dogs in the middle of the road, and a neighbor called the Police who sent a cruiser to the scene.

Evidently who ever hit the dog and left it to die drove off.

I know what I witnessed today is unrelated, it's just that all I could think of was this poor dead dog, and how the other dog (his buddy obviously) knew not to leave the dog unattended, even though traffic was whizzing by him on a fairly busy two laned (traffic going in both directions) road.

We should all take a lesson from our furred friends.

I hope your dog is okay, and no worse for the wear.

Perhaps its me, but if my fur baby was hurt DIS is the last place that would come to my mind! Granted she may be waiting for help to get her dog in the car but my Golden is 100 lbs and when he had problems with his back I did everything I could to lift him up into the car to bring him to the vet. Its amazing that even though I weight only 29 more lbs then he does I did manage to get him in without anyone’s assistance.

Maybe I shouldn't have posted this in the first place since this has upset so many people. I was hoping that during this time of need when I needed to talk to someone, that there would be someone to talk to and help me out in some way. My dog was not left alone during this time...

If you had originally posted saying that your dog was injured, going to the vets and you needed some emotional support, my bet is the response would have been 100% positive.

Well said, took the words out of my mouth!

well, I don't know what exactly happened. But I do know that during that time she was posting on the "What's on tv on Monday night" thread and another fluff thread. I think you have to forgive people for thinking that perhaps she wasn't really watching after the dog.

That is just one of the many things that had people freaked out and upset.

I hope the dog is ok.

This whole thread sickens me. I can't believe this is even being discussed on a Disney community board.
I have a soft spot for animals and I am just sick and appalled. I am sorry but there is just no way you can convince me that posting on the DIS was appropriate in any way at all. Use common sense, get help.
I hope a moderator closes and deletes this thread. :o :(

Maybe for future reference, there is NO law saying you have to use YOUR vet when an emergency happens. I'm sure there must be other vets in the phone book! This is just sad.

Does everyone really believe this whole thing is true anyways?! Maybe "someone" was just bored and wanted to get people riled up?!
I just can't believe anyone smart enough to use a computer and tye is so.........dumb!

Guys, she was obviously getting help. For one, I think she would be stupid to actually go out there on her own to try to get this large dog. That dog would have most likely turned around and attacked her. Second of all, how do you know where she's at??? There doesn't have to be another vet there. I'm from a small town that, believe it or not, actually didn't have a vet. I think it was about 15 miles to the nearest one. Not everyone has the advantage of living in a bigger city that has an abundance of vets there to help.

Actually, what's making me sick is thinking that all these people that I thought were nice people seem to be shallow and can jump to such horrible conclusions about a person so quickly without even knowing all the facts. So she posted a couple of more messages while waiting for help to arrive. If you find yourself in a helpless situations, wouldn't you want to turn to some "friends" to help you pass the time? I just can't believe people that are usually so nice have turned so nasty like this.

But taking the time to post on DIS is defiantly going to get the dog checked out after he gets the car lifted off from him? Hmmm lets see what should we post…. I have an idea…..how about what’s on TV on Monday nights!

Nope, sorry, this is not acceptable in my book!
