Exactly!

Puss or no puss, this dog was physically injured. Dogs are very stoic and usually only react when the pain is so intense they can't stand it anymore.

A trip to the Vet was in order right after it happened. Any responsible pet owner knows that.

Paramedics treat people, not dogs.

TAKE THE DOG TO A VET!

PLEASE get your dog to the vet ASAP. My 10-month-old puppy was hit by a car last summer after escaping the fence. Although she looked fine and had no bleeding, bones sticking out, etc. I took her to the vet immediately. She had massive internal injury and although you could not visibly "see" the damage she ended up dying even with the vet right there doing CPR, tapping her chest for blood, IV, etc. My heart is still broken over losing her and I did everything that I thought was in my power to help her. Please don't wait and see if he is "okay" later. Take him to the vet NOW.

Even if your sister's boyfriend was a vet as opposed to a paramedic, I'm sure he would tell you he wouldn't know what was wrong until he actually saw the dog.

I really don't understand why you don't at least just call the vet???

I have upset alot of people on here, and I'm sorry for that. While certain posts were being typed, I did call the vet and my dad and husband had taken him to the vet. I called the receptionist while they were already on their way and she said that the vet would have to take a look at the dog.
I know that paramedics take care of humans and not dogs. I am not that ignorant. I was in shock when this had happened, and was trying to get in touch with the vet, but the line was busy.

I am glad the poor dog is gone to the vet.I would have taken him when it first happened instead of calling first.

Maybe he will be OK,I hope.

Thank you luvindisneyworld. The dog didn't want to move and when we tried, he growled at us cause he just wanted to be left alone. We had to wait till my dad came home which was shortly after the incident.
I'm just waiting to see if the vet calls us with updates or until my dad and husband gets home.

Take that dog to a vet immediately! NM, I posted before I saw the reply. I hope he will be okay!

I'm glad to hear that the poor dog finally went to the vet's. I do NOT know your reasons for not placing your dog directly into your car and taking him to the vets right away but I am appalled that you would even post your question here instead of caring for your dog!

I pray that the poor creature will be OK and that overall treatment of this poor animal is better then the one you displayed at this time.

I wouldn't be surprised if the poor dog is dead by now..

Please let us know how the dog is when you get a chance. I am sure it must have been a great shock for you.

Just to update everyone. My dog is at the vets and they will sedate him so that he can get stitches and we will need to call to see if he can come home today or tomorrow. They said that he looks fine, but I'm glad that he is at the vets where they can take a look at him.

The vet's phone was busy so you got on the DIS??????

Maybe I shouldn't have posted this in the first place since this has upset so many people. I was hoping that during this time of need when I needed to talk to someone, that there would be someone to talk to and help me out in some way. My dog was not left alone during this time...

I hope your dog is going to be OK. Thanks for letting us know.

I think everyone went ape because it is elementary that a dog run over by a car needs to be taken to a vet immediately. There is no excuse. If the dog was growling, call and have the vet come to you to sedate the dog.

If you ran over one of your kids, would you just "keep an eye" on him/her while you waited for an email from your sister? No, you would take him/her to the ER immediately. Same goes for a dog.

I don't think anyone understands why you had to come to an internet chat board to ask advice....unless you were trying to figure out a way NOT to take the dog to the vet.

I hope the dog truly did get to the vet and will be okay. A *very* lucky dog to be stuck under a car while you jack it up to release it and be fine. Best wishes to your dog.

Posting a question needing help in what to do is fine. But with something this serious, and we all gave you the same advice, it did upset a lot of us and I know it did me.

Please next time, anything happens to your dog, or anyone, please, take them to the vet or hospital immediately. Don't wait for the vet to get off the phone. Just don't wait period.

I know you were able to see your dog and possibly had a more rational view of things. However, you should understand where we were coming from.
It seemed from my perspective to be cruel and heartless to leave a dog in pain while you posted on the dis. Asking how to move him would be one thing. Those two other posts you did, seemed like you weren't taking your dog's health seriously. Or just didn't care.
Now I don't know you and this may be totally wrong, but this is how I saw it from this thread.

I hope your dog does recover from this, and I really hope nothing like this happens again. It's traumatic for everyone, and possibly fatal for the dog.

I think it was the comment about a bone sticking out that really got to everyone. I'm glad that nothing appears to be broken.
