We always come down to WDW for a 10 day trip in mid-December and The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is my VERY most favorite holiday activity at WDW.

Well, this year my husband has a conference in Disney January 10 - 17 and our company will pick up most of the cost, so needless to say, that's when we are going this year. I HATE to miss the O Lights, but it's just one year, right?

THEN, I've been hearing whispers, rumors that this MIGHT be the last year for the O lights due to all of the new renovations and construction coming to Hollywood Studios! I really need to know if anyone has heard/read anything reliable as to what Disney's actual plans will be for the future of the O Lights.

If this truly is the LAST year for the O Lights, me and my girls will need to make a quick weekend trip to see them . . . . .

Anyone got some good links or info about the future of the O Lights?????

It's all just speculation right now.

I have heard that it might be the last year for the lights. I have also heard it might be the last year for the lights in it's current form.

Also, keep in mind that there were rumors that LAST year was the final year for the lights.

I know, I was just hoping that someone might have seen a credible article or post from anyone who might have the inside track on what Disney is ACTUALLY planning for the future of the O Lights . . . . .

I think I need to plan a weekend trip and go down and see them in their current form, just in case! ;-)

Hi,
I am going to WDW in 28 days - yeah!

My first Christmas decorated trip. I have never seen Osborne Lights before - any tips. Should I not miss the start, should I be there at the end - is there a great place I need to watch them from

Thanks

I think it is very possible that the Streets of New York area of DHS may be changed, however, I think if that happens that they will find a new home for the lights. They are such a popular attraction. I have never actually seen them myself (though I have seen them as they were going up) but would really like to.

On the night we saw them, we were there for when they turned the lights on around 6pm and it was amazing. The lights are good no matter when you catch them, but I thought it was particularly breathtaking to see them go on at the start - especially for someone who's never seen them.

It's not advertised, but The O Lights usually stay on 1 to 2 hours past the posted official park closing for the day, so we always head back to the Streets of America around closing time and the crowds are SO MUCH lower. I have pictures of us from year's past where we are almost the only ones in the pictures. It is awesome! I'm tearing up just thinking about it :-)

BrianL, you must go! They are phenomenal!!!

That's my worry, that Streets of America will be leveled and The O Lights will be gone for a period of time and then "re-themed" somewhere else. I just can't picture them somewhere else and still being the same experience!!!! I will be so disappointed to lose my holiday favorite :-(

Given the amount of money they are pumping into AK right now, I doubt they are going to do any major construction for at least another year at DHS. They waited till Fantasyland was nearly done to start on AK. I suspect the same goes for star wars land. But it is all just speculation.
