I need help! Which deluxe resort would you go

I'd pick Beach or Yacht Club, or Boardwalk. Not only do I love the theme of them, their location is great.
There are so many choices and each is so different that I agree with the pp's who said to pick one that matches your dw's interests, or maybe she has mentioned always wanting to stay at ........ before.
Happy Anniversary :goodvibes

Beach Club or Yacht Club....stroll along the Boardwalk at night. Quick walk to Epcot and the World Showcase. Illuminations in your back yard:thumbsup2
So much to do in the area

We are here now for the first time at AKL and we absolutely love it ! The resort is amazing from animals to the food and everything else in between . As long as we can afford it we will never stay anywhere else

I've only stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, but it was AMAZING. I love animals, and I'll never forget walking down the hall and seeing giraffes right there walking outside the windows. And waking up to see zebras from our balcony!

Boma is located there, and it's a fantastic buffet. One of two restaurants that we're repeating this trip because we both enjoyed it so much.

The Wilderness Lodge for sure. It is romantic, comfortable, and more compact than the other deluxe properties. The boat to MK is nice, plus you can walk to Fort Wilderness. Artist Point would be a fabulous anniversary meal. I stayed in one of the four "honeymoon" rooms and it was nice but a studio in VWL would be great too. To me the lodge feels less "busy" than the other deluxe resorts. It is the perfect contrast to the parks and very relaxing.

If you decide to go to a moderate...Coronado Springs and POFQ are my favorites.

If you will spend most of your time in Epcot...Boardwalk. The short walk to the World Showcase on an adults only trip would be great.

For deluxe, we've only stayed at BLT. But I find the Poly so romantic. We always go over there for meals and to walk around. What do you think your wife would find romantic?

Gosh...hard decision. Polynesian is definitely my favorite...but we have had GREAT adults only vacations at BC and AKL as well. Loved the proximity of BC to EPCOT for dinner spots, and just love the theme of AKL. Great lobby and spaces to unwind. AKL is a bit far from everything...but if you don't mind driving its great (and can be much less expensive).

Poly is our favorite, but I would stay at GF for a big anniversary like that. It is romantic and you can dine at Narcoosees, Citricos or even Victoria and Alberts to celebrate. Have a drink at Mizeners in the lobby and listen to live music. Stroll the beach or watch Wishes. Grab a monorail to CR and eat at California Grill. I love the monorail resorts with views of Cinderella's castle!

My husband and I were actually tossing around the same question since we have a 10th anniversary coming up next year. We're not sure exactly what we're going to do yet (assuming arrangements for kids allow us to actually do anything), but we were actually thinking it would be nice to stay at the Waldorf-Astoria at Disney -- enjoy Disney, but maybe have a higher level of luxury for less than what we'd pay at most Deluxes.

Of course, if we were dependent on Disney transportation the W-A wouldn't be an option. Another factor here is how much you enjoy trying Disney restaurants: after our last trip my husband said something along the lines of "I never want to eat Disney food again". Actually, he said something like that repeatedly, with embellishments involving the inferiority of most Disney food to the food court at the mall, the airline, etc. You can tell we hit the numbers on our restaurant choices last time:). So a significant issue here might be the availability of restaurants you would really like to try, if that's your thing (for example, DH has been wanting to try Bull&Bear ever since it opened).

We still might do a Disney deluxe, or something non-Disney altogether. But there are options at Disney other than the specifically Disney hotels. There's a Four Seasons opening next year too.

:thumbsup2Myself and DW are looking to go to wdw in Nov/2014 to celebrate our 35th Wedding anniversary, I would love to surprise her .I was going to tell her we would go to one of the value resorts, and surprise her with one of the Deluxe.I would love some help from Disers on which one they would pick!

I don't think you can go wrong with any of them but if this is while the Christmas decorations are up then I would say WL. I know it's the only deluxe I've stayed in so far but I have visited all of them during the Christmas season and WL knocked it out of the park for me.

If it's before the decos, I would have a hard time picking. I think the monorail resorts would get the edge. THAT part is really neat. Altho I love WL for it's ONE big building. I don't know if I would like to have to walk between buildings to get the all the main stuff/restaurants like at Poly/GF. Contemporary might be the one I pick.

But you know your wife.....maybe she would love the beach theme and would love all there is on the boardwalk and being able to walk to Epcot. Oh, yeah, there's a good question for you....will you be eating dinner a lot in Epcot? If you are, it's nice being close.

I don't think I helped you out at all. lol :flower3: Have fun deciding!

I'd do BW or BC. We loved being able to walk over to Epcot whenever we wanted (5 minutes). Plus, we could walk to DHS.

Such a tough one, I'm sure any of the deluxe resorts would be amazing!

Depending on you and you're wife's interests, if you plan to spend a lot of time/eat at Epcot a lot then YC/BC would be amazing. If you're more MK, then I don't think you could go wrong with either GF or Poly. GF might be more fitting for a romantic trip. But will all depend on you both and your plans!

1. Animal Kingdom Lodge
2. Polynesian
3. Grand Floridian

Our favorite resort is the Poly, but with DVC construction just beginning, there will be a lot going on next year with some things (GCH, pool, etc) possibly being closed. With that said, my next two choices would be:

GF RPC - food offerings are great, CMs are wonderful, beautiful views from the lounge, lounge overlooks the lobby which makes for a relaxing atmosphere while listening to the band play, and the resort is beautifully decorated for the holidays

WL CL - resort is beautiful anytime of year but especially so during the holidays, the CL offerings are great, the CMs are amazing, the lounge overlooks the beautiful lobby and it's relaxing to watch the hustle and bustle down below, it's a gorgeous deluxe resort without the price tag like those on the monorail and in the Epcot area

Good luck deciding and happy planning, but I'm sure you'll have a great anniversary trip no matter which resort you choose :wizard:.

What I like, am willing to pay for and is worth the price are all subjective on these boards...

We're veterans, many a stay at most of the deluxe thru the years... Money being no object: Poly and WL... Worth the money they ask now... Not worth it for what you get...

Was never a fan of less than deluxe until we decided to use our AP 3 separate times in one year and resort discounts were very small...we stepped down to moderate and haven't looked back....we're no into the huge sprawling resorts and that ruled out most of the mods except POFQ...

We've done 3 trips there and going back this October... Grounds have a wow factor, sisters with POR, so access within walking distance of 2 resort pools and amenities, and the boat to DTD just icing on the cake...

Never thought I'd say it, but deluxe resorts are overrated, hyped and priced anymore unless Disney comes out with bigger discounts..!

I would decipher which resort you plan to stay at the most and then pick a hotel closest to it. If you don't really care I would choose CR.
