Lol thank you! I did say yes!

Of course, who needs to break in a new SSN at this point in the game, right?!?

J/K!

Congratulations! What a great place to remember a proposal. And as long as they don't tear down the building, an awesome spot to relive it :)

(It'd be a little awkward to relive mine, I think the new family living there might object haha)

Heading to LAX for my flight back home. My SO proposed this trip! I’m going to need some honeymoon ideas lol.

The Disneyland hotel was amazing. Worth 200k+ URs for the package. I could have gotten a better value out of them if I redeemed for first class travel somewhere or transferred to a Hyatt, but I prefer using URs for Disney trips.

It was so nice being on property and going back to the hotel for naps. Lol
We had so much time so we got to go slow and relax a bit. I do prefer the Grand Californian over the Disneyland hotel if you have some extra URs you want to burn. lol

We somehow spent $1125 on food for a five night trip. We only did one table service a day. We snacked a lot tho. You guys have to teach me your food tricks so I can lower this. SO has a new philosophy that there are no budgets in Disney so idk if I’ll be able to convince him to cut down.

We ate at Steakhouse 55, Blue Bayou, Cafe Orleans, Carnation Cafe, Jazz Kitchen, and Wine and Country Tratoria. I loved Steakhouse 55, Blue Bayou, Carnation Cafe, and Jazz Kitchen. SO and I agreed we would not go back to Wine and country tartoria. I didn’t like Cafe Orleans, but he did so we will be back lol. They gave us two extra beignets and a cute little Mickey made out of whipped cream for our engagement, that was very nice of them, so I will try them again.

We did a DVC tour for a $100 giftcard and four fastpasses each. It was about 40 mins so worth it for us. We also got to see an Aulani room, which was gorgeous. They didn’t use high pressure sales tactics and I simple said we couldn’t afford it right now. It’s real clever how they break the payment down to monthly payments over 10 years, like yeah we can afford $185 a month, but paying 12% interest goes against my FIRE plans. We will most likely buy dvc in the future though, but will pay cash and buy resale.

During the tour we said we couldn’t afford DVC. The guide asked where we were staying and how long. We said the Disneyland hotel and five nights. The guide said that’s like $3,000 how can you afford that and not DVC. I was like credit card points. He was like oh the Disney Visa. lol if only he knew...
Congrats on your engagement !

Lol thanks! it was just the two of us in the room. I didn’t want a big scene anywhere. I’m pretty quiet and shy, but will speak up if I have to lol. But SO is very shy so it was perfect with just the two of us alone. He was also so nervous and shaking. Idk why we have been together forever and he knew I would say yes. But it was adorable.
Congratulations, how exciting!!!!

Well, it's something you want to do only once in your life, so I can see why he was a little nervous! Congrats!

Quick question for my SW peeps...I have some LUV vouchers, if I book flights using them and the prices decrease, can I rebook and get the difference back on the voucher? I'm used to using RR points. I think they will put any difference back on the vouchers but I wanted to ask first.

Thanks!

It was really hard to pack everything into a backpack last night, how did that happen? A few shirts, shorts, swim suit/coverup/flip flops, a pair of flats for dinner/MNSSHP, outfit for MNSSHP (it's just normal clothing, nothing special), socks, 2 1qt liquid bags (which includes 3 bottles of sunscreen :D but no shampoo/conditioner since Pop has individual bottles of the H20 line now - thanks @Haley R!), my little travel purse, phone charger, some disposable ponchos... I'm wearing my tennis shoes on the plane... so why is my backpack bulging right now? o_O
have an awesome time!

It wouldn’t go back on the voucher...the difference will be a credit attached to the person the ticket was issued to and will have to be used within 1 year of the date you bought the ticket

Does anyone have recent experience with the United and Delta cards? I'm considering getting one to supplement my points, and either airline works for my travel plans. The United card seems to get the better reviews, but Delta has more initial miles. I haven't had an American Express card in a while, so that may work against the Delta card if others have had issues. Thanks in advance!
I'm not going to be too helpful a couple heads-up: UA free checked bag only if you pay for the flight with your UA credit card (DL doesn't care how you pay you get the free bag), just having a UA credit card can open more award space to you so because of that I'd be looking to keep the UA card long term (downgrade to no af version if the af doesn't pay off).

Read up on 5/24 (I'm sure this has already been covered by others as I'm behind). You can get a DL card at lol/24 because Amex loves all, but you can't get a UA card after 5/24.

How exciting!!! Congrats!party:

OMG who cares about the trip details, we want to hear about the proposal!! Congrats!!!

I was thinking the same thing...:)

Yeah, really didn't read anything after this sentence. I'm assuming you said yes?

Me, neither...:rotfl:

I did say yes!

Good...I read through your (okay skimmed through) trip details to see the answer and you left me hanging. Happy you said yes!

Now let the wedding and honeymoon planning begin! I believe @amalone1013 will have some great advice :)

I've only used the voucher once, so not real expert on it, but I believe you'd get a travel credit like if you booked a non refundable with cash. I don't believe they reissue vouchers. SW usually has a "earliest expiration date" concept going on, so it's possible the travel credit would expire on the date of the voucher and not necessarily based on the date of the ticket purchase. I'd have to look up the expiration dates on the tickets we did with the voucher last year to be sure. I didn't really pay much attention to it as we got the vouchers just a couple months before we were set to buy our tickets for this last trip in Jan, so I knew it'd all be used quickly.

I got an email from AS asking for volunteers for my flight tomorrow in case they need them for at least $250. The flight isn't sold out and I don't want to get to SF later than this flight so I didn't do it. If there was a way to do it and get out on the first flight of the day it'd be worth it. Hopefully they'll have the same on Monday since I'm taking an early flight and could get home later in the day for $250.

For those waiting for a CIP bonus to go pending fyi you are not alone. https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/c...tion_thread_august_30_2018/e55112w/?context=3 Others are starting to ask (myself included) and this dp had the bonus go pending right before statement close and it posted a week later. Person completed the spend almost 3 weeks before it went pending.

3 weeks! I’ve been taking my time on P2’s CIP MSR. I figure no big deal since I won’t have the Sapphires until October anyway for transferring points. His first statement should close this weekend. So I guess if I want it posted by his second statement we have to finish that MSR in a week or so. Weird.

Can't recall if anyone noticed this yet with the change to Expedia on the Chase Freedom cards, but you can order some WDW tickets without having to call:
https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/c..._disney_walt_disney_world_megathread/e55r2i5/

Checked it out on my Freedom card, and it was a little wonky at first, but on a second search I got all the options they mentioned. Everything you can book from Expedia, including the promo tickets, are showing up in the UR portal. I haven't followed all the ticketing changes closely over the years since we bought our NE passes, so you'd just have to weigh Expedia bought passes online vs Disney bought passes over the phone when using your UR.

I'll echo the sentiment, it should be pretty nice once CSP/CSR get setup on the Expedia portal. Have we found a downside yet to having Expedia?

only downside so far is that for some reason the hotels aren't showing up as the sale price. It is weird, b/c before the resorts went missing from the portal they did used to show the sale prices.

I'm so curious about this! How do things work in your family. We have a 9 and 5 year old. My husband is dying for another and I'm on the fence. Our life is so easy right now! And i'm trying to focus on my career. I could see trying for another in a couple of years. But then we would have a pretty big gap. I'm unsure how it would work! Obviously, plenty of people have done it though!

I wanted it this way b/c having the boys 22 months apart kept us really busy! The challenge between our oldest and the boys (8 year gap then 2 year gap) was when she got old enough to want to go out late and I had 2 little kids home in the bed. I couldn't just leave them home to pick her up at 11pm at the movies, etc. Once she could drive it was easier.

The next gap was 6 years exactly (well off by 2 days) and it has been fine, but as the boys get older we may run into the same issue again. They do have to sacrifice some things now. For ex in the summer we had to do activities that she could do too. Then on her days at preschool in the summer I'd take them to do older kid things. It works out and they adore her. She adores them too. They have cute relationships with each other.

Maybe you will get lucky and they will play lets make a deal at the airport. They did this at the gate last time at the airport. They started at $250 and then they were up to $1000 after 7 minutes.
