Thanks for the heads up about this. I maxed out one card, but I was waiting until next month to start working on 2-3 more cards (trying to spread out that AmEx spend). Now I won't worry about it.

I just liquidated the $50s. Tedious, but easy! Feels good.

I have 3x $100s from the Staples no fee MCGC deal last week; just waiting on the activation codes. And then another run to Safeway for $300 more MCGCs.

If you just want to get the activation over with, you can call the main staples number and ask to be transferred to gift card mall. It took me 10min once transferred to get them activated and all it took was the order number on the letter it came on (not the staples order number). The rep looked all 3 up simply through an order number and asked me to confirm the billing address. 10 min later, activated and I was able to register all 3 within an hour.

Thank you so much for the welcome and knowledge.
I did run a credit report today. Open dates-Disney Visa 3/17, Credit Union CC 2/17, Chase Freedom U 8/21/18.
My wife has no open cards in the last 24 months. She did apply for Chase Freedom today and got the 7-10 day message. Not sure if this hurts her, but she makes under 20k a year.
We are willing to make this churning thing go.
We would like to use the travel rewards/pts to travel to disney for our family of 5. Flights, etc. Also, we would like to travel with just us two as well.

To recap, I made the dumb move of of applying for 3 chase cards in one hour. I received the CFU, got the 30 day message on the CInk Business, and the rejection letter for the Chase Freedom.

I have my eye on the Sapphire Reserve as well, so we can combine all of the rewards there.

Thank you for any further suggestions/tips.

I make $0 per year and Chase has given me more credit than DH at the moment. Always use household income.

CIP is which card? 0/30 means I have to wait 30 days to apply for another Chase card?
Thanks for answering these newb questions.
0/30 is the business app rule. Chase Ink Preferred is a business card. You can only apply for a business card with Chase if you have 0 apps with them in the last 30 days. Personal isn’t as strict and allows 1 app in 30 days.

Lots of chatter tonight. I got my SPG bus card in the mail today, still working on the CIP MS. Hoping that Chase doesn't implement a 48 month rule for the Southwest cards...at least until after my double dip. Plan right now to double dip likely in December on my return flight, potential upgrade of my SPG personal to the Lux before the double dip as I have a 100,000 point offer but that is more dependent on how the MS spend goes for my other two new cards.

Tomorrow I'm probably going to work on spending some of these points, will be interested in seeing the Southwest schedule, hoping to book some flights for May. Then I can get working on using my Marriott certificate and hoping to book an additional 3 nights with the 5th night free.

I guarantee you make more than $0 considering the churning bonuses you make! Chase knows who the brains of the operation is ;)

Haha I do like to think of it as my job. Made over $12,000 in the last year on travel redemptions. My DH does love my hobby but he has said to me - you do know you could make more money than that with an actual job. Ha. Yes, it’s time I get a “real” money earning job. I’m not too far from @SouthFayetteFan maybe he can hook me up with his bank/Dis/golf job. :rotfl2:

Thanks! I'm pretty familiar with all areas you've mentioned but haven't been up that way in a few years. I have a friend in Hyannis that I still keep in touch with so I'll definitely be on the Cape. I love the huge sand dunes out in Provincetown and I like to go to the national seashore there. Also, son went to school in Boston - Wentworth Institute back in 2000, so stayed in all three Copley Place hotels - mostly on points when we visited. I love the Museum of Fine Arts and want to get back there. Not going into Maine this trip, but I do love Maine and especially Wells/Ogunquit area. I'll probably go into Plymouth so I can get a lobster roll and a clam chowder at Wood's Seafood. Used to live in Newport, RI and love just driving around the whole area.

Beautiful area...was there all day on Sunday. Love living 1/2 hr away.

Small price to pay when you are working in a bad situation. I can totally relate to @amalone1013 but it's also why I was bad and never bothered reducing my already bad pay by contributing to my 401, I knew I'd never make the 3 years for it to be vested :) Didn't quite make a year and a half.

My company you were 100% vested off the bat and could take the match right away. It had changed over the years...I think when I started 20 years ago you had to wait 5 years. They also matched 100% up to 5%. Hard to beat that...it was always in the back of my mind and kept me going at times.

LOL! A procrastinating one!!!! Yes, I need to be slapped with a wet noodle for all the years that I have had a card with free pre-check and hadn't gotten it.

I just got pre-check in April...had been thinking about it for a couple years. Had to pay for it and now I have 2 cards that offer it. Guess I should have waited...or applied sooner! :confused3

i think Lowes is in the mix too.

edit: private group reports...
Lowes - Not Safe - "Limit of $100 in total statement credits per American Express® Card Member."
Staples - Not Safe - "Limit of $100 in total statement credits per American Express® Card Member. "
Best Buy - Safe - "Limit of 1 statement credit(s) per American Express® Card across all American Express offer channels."
Marriott - Not Safe. - "Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels."

Will report as it goes.

I looked up the language, added it in RED.

Adding the other Business offers-
Exxon: Limit of $100 in total statement credits per American Express® Card Member.
Dell: Limit of $1500 in total statement credits per American Express® Card Member.
FedEx Office & Freight: Limit of $1,000 in total statement credits per American Express® Card Member.
(never got the shipping offer, but I assume it'd be the same, since we're seeing a pattern here)

So Marriot's a bit of an anomaly where it says "per Card Member" and yet the multi tab trick worked. Whereas the Ritz offer with the same "Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels. " worked as expected and blocked me from adding it to a second card. But I'd play it safe and not expect to use it on more than one card.

Yeah - to compare two elite level travelers carrying the most prestigious credit card:

Hilton (the SouthFayetteFan valuation of these is 0.6cpp)
Diamond Elite - has a Hilton Aspire card (this card gives you auto Diamond status, but our hypothetical regular traveler can earn this through stays anyways)
They have a $1,000 hotel bill
  • Earn 10x points on the $1,000 = 10,000 pts
  • Earn double points as diamond = 10,000 pts
  • Pays with Aspire = earns 14x points = 14,000 pts
  • TOTAL STAY = 34,000 pts worth ~$204
Marriott (the SouthFayetteFan valuation of these is 0.8cpp)
Platinum Premier Elite - has an SPG Luxury Card (this card does not give you Plat status - you have to earn that on your own with stays)
They also have a $1,000 hotel bill
  • Earn 10x points on the $1,000 = 10,000 pts
  • 75% bump on points as Plat Prem = 7,500 pts
  • Pays with SPG Luxury = earns 6x points = 6,000 pts
  • TOTAL STAY = 23,500 pts = $188
Conclusion
So the traveler with Hilton earned 10,500 more points (which to the uneducated eye sounds awesome) BUT it's just $16 more worth of points because of the different valuations. Of course you could argue with my valuations (but I feel strongly that Marriott is worth slightly more than Hilton). Still - if you are a business traveler who is regularly generating a $1,000 hotel bill that $16 could add up very quickly. I didn't include any promotional points because both chains run promotions and it's really hard to value what they're worth as they're usually super complex promotions requiring multiple stays.

Looks like our Sept SeaWorld plans are changing since DH hurt his foot and either not be going or just hanging out at the resort. So I think DS and I are going to do Disney instead since I have a couple of Parkhoppers to be used that I won at a silent auction. Now to decide on a resort and payment method. We have only ever done deluxe so I was thinking either Yacht Club or AKL since we probably have some pool time or I know he wants to do AK and Pandora. (I actually made sure I didn’t go into it when I was just there’re since I wanted to experience it with him.)

Heard back. Booked flights! $100 total with seat selection at $13 each. Just personal items, no carry-ons/checked bags.
But where is all your stuff?!? I am s serial overpacker, no way I could do that! DH and I went to Vegas for 2 nights recently and he was shocked we made it with only 2 carryons and 2 personal items!

I make $0 per year and Chase has given me more credit than DH at the moment. Always use household income.
I've been wondering about this. I'm pretty sure I've only been using my income, but was thinking on my next ap I should use household income. But will that look suspicious if my income more than doubles since my last ap?
