I love credit cards so much!

I booked my dh & I at a Hyatt Regency in downtown Denver for a couple nights CLUB level :) It wasn't that much more on the UR site. We are not used to 1) staying at a hotel without kids, and 2) we have never stayed club level anywhere. I'm not expecting much but it wasn't a huge difference in points so why not?! He has a work conference downtown so I can't keep him up too late lol, but I'm excited to have some kid-free time with just him!

A lot of y'all on this thread are young 'whipper snappers' and you don't have kids (we call them 'ankle-biters') yet. Just wait, one day you will understand :D Kids are the best thing ever but you cannot help but be thrilled when you can ditch them for a night :goodvibes

Lol lately I have been questioning if kids are the best choice. I want them but then I went to Steakhouse 55 and Blue Bayou and spent $220 and $185 for just SO and I. How on earth could we afford those meals if we had more people??? I’ll get my final food costs when we check out Friday but I think we are approaching over $1k spent on food this trip. Are kids really worth giving up nice Disneyland meals? Lol maybe our income will also increase so I won’t have to make any sacrifices. Lol

What do you (or anyone else) think about paying a credit union loan and credit union mortgage with Plastiq on an Amex if I can get it to go through? Given all the drama with Amex I am starting to think might be better to not do it unless I get desperate and in danger of not meeting the spends.

I would do it only if desperate. Which, I have been at times to finish off Amex MSR's and I've had to resort to putting spend on that I knew they could come back on me about. Thankfully, that never happened but I grow more nervous around them every day and I'm trying very hard to meet my new amex MSR without the help of plastiq.

WELL... You will most likely have to put those $$ meals aside unless it's just you and dh (though you could get away with a baby/toddler for free for a bit). Our family eats a lot simpler and cheaper :D

I am not sure how long you have been with your SO, but my dh & I dated for 4 years before we got married and then were married for almost 5 years before our first baby arrived. We did a ton of pricey meals and extravagant travel before kids so we were ready to 'sacrifice' and welcome a little one. I never regret my kids but life does change when they enter the picture. It's ok though cause change is good and the change children bring isn't like anything else. It's mind-blowing really how much 'change' one little person can cause lol. They leave footprints on your heart for real...nothing at Disney could ever compare to what having your own child brings into your life.

Having said that, I don't think everyone has to have children to have a fulfilled life. My dh & I are both only children (and he is only grandchild) and we both felt rather lonely growing up so our desire was to surround ourselves with a large family. I know you have siblings (not sure on your SO) but you could feel you are surrounded by family without needing to have kids...? Having kids can give you purpose though that I'm not sure siblings can.

It's such a personal decision! You still seem really young to me so just enjoy life for now. You'll know when it's time (or not time). I was 23 and never having kids. A year later, I was pregnant (on purpose) and couldn't wait to be a mom :)

That’s so weird because Dh and I are in a similar position right now. We dated for 6 years before getting married and have now been married for 2. All of my cousins that are the same age are having kids and my brother has had two now (but he’s 28). Dh and I decided we want kids but we really do enjoy the personal time right now. We’re thinking maybe after Japan we’ll start being more serious about it. My parents are kind of old compared to dh’s so I put that as a factor. We also play in a band so having kids would pretty much mean quitting the band. I doubt we could manage both at the same time. It’ll all work out in the end!

The new London/Paris ABD sounds great and I wish it was something I had the money to do. Someday I'll do an ABD.

I said that for years and it was that idea that led me to this hobby. They are expensive :faint: but paying them with discounted Disney gift cards (Sam's, BJ's) or Disney gift cards you earned 5x on does help soften the blow a little.

So, I just booked an AS award flight on Cathay in business from South Africa to SanFran with a week and half stopover in Hong Kong where I'll use my 7 night Marriott cert next year... oh. my. gosh. ...My first big, international award booking. I'm still processing that I just did that, when I'm thinking a bit clearer I'll come back and lay out some of the process details in case anyone else is looking at using AS miles to book Cathay.

Still playing catch up and 10 pages behind but had to stop and say CONGRATULATIONS on booking your first big international award flight and it's a partner award flight to boot!!!! I'm smiling from ear to ear for you!

Oh, so when she applies, I just use our combined income when they ask?
We live near the Fort Wayne, IN airport and love to fly out of there, but go to Indy or Chicago for cheaper prices when all 5 of us fly.
Don't have a preference for airline. We've done Frontier, Allegiant and Southwest.
We we've went to Disney with all 5 we stay off site to save money, but we'd love to rent DVC or get two rooms, just never have been able to afford.
Certain resorts at Disney you can fit 5 in a room. I will say we love our DVC! You can check the price if rooms on Disney’s website then if you have the CSR take that price divided by 1.5 and that’s the cost to redeem in UR dollars. It’s a great way to see how much UR you need to save up.

CIP is which card? 0/30 means I have to wait 30 days to apply for another Chase card?
Thanks for answering these newb questions.
Yes no apps in 30 days when you apply for chase business cards. Chase ink preferred CIP

Looks like our Sept SeaWorld plans are changing since DH hurt his foot and either not be going or just hanging out at the resort. So I think DS and I are going to do Disney instead since I have a couple of Parkhoppers to be used that I won at a silent auction. Now to decide on a resort and payment method. We have only ever done deluxe so I was thinking either Yacht Club or AKL since we probably have some pool time or I know he wants to do AK and Pandora. (I actually made sure I didn’t go into it when I was just there’re since I wanted to experience it with him.)

Boardwalk and beach club are nice Bc you can walk to epcot for food and wine. Although if your DH is staying in the room while you go up the parks it might be nice to do Savannah view at AKL.

You will know when it’s time. One thing we regretted is not traveling some before kids but we were together 7 years and then 2 married years before we got pregnant. We were trying to get bills paid down First. We do more trips now that we have the kids though so don’t think you can’t take trips with kids. It just costs more to fly and the food bill! Age was also a factor we knew we wanted 2-4 kids so if we waited any longer it would put us in a higher risk category which we wanted to avoid if possible. I was 29 when we had our first so we were older compared to many of my kids parents

Last night at bar trivia we had a new person join our team who turned out to be a churner. She was asking my strategy and comparing it to hers (which was category spend + limited MSRs, whereas I'm all MSR, all the time). Quite a lively conversation after a couple drinks! I highly recommend that. Oh, also we answered trivia questions.

Yep, been married for 5 years this year and we will not be having children. We both have large families with lots of nieces and nephews on both sides. They're great, but we've decided that children are just not for us. We're now 34 and 31. Surprisingly, that seems to be a sentiment that's becoming much more common.

So true!! Glad both our parents are fairly close and love to see them and have them spend the night. A couple hours after dropping them off, I find that we talk about them quite a bit though. haha

Southwest flights are out! Not what I was hoping for...some already sold out. May have to venture to the Blue side and see what I can find...or check the vast Frontier.

If they were showing WGA fares sold out as soon as the schedule hit....Is this is a holiday week......they usually open WGA fares later on if the higher fares don’t sell as anticipated

I purchased dd's spring break flights on Southwest at 6:35 and the WGA fares on the two return n/s flights were already sold out :badpc: I did get a decent WGA price for her flight home.

I upgraded her to Business Select for the return to school for $16 more than the mid-tier price lol

This waiting until later this year/January to get SW cards is painful.

I looked again and the fares that were sold out are now available. Maybe yours are available now too!

I know there are Disney dedicated threads but lots of Disney pros on this one also. DS11 and I are suddenly going 9/8-10. We’ve been several times and have always stayed deluxe, typically WL and once at Boardwalk. Options for this trip: POR- $500, AKL- $615 or YC- $750. Currently have 2- 1 day pH passes. Our flight gets in at 8:40 am from BWI. So Sat could be a swim day only, swim day + Halloween party, park day and purchase a 2 day PH. We definitely want to do AK/Pandora at night. I have URs to cover room and tickets or I could discounted GCs. Thoughts?
