Major CONGRATS, my friend!! What an amazing accomplishment! :cheer2::banana: Will there be even more travel in your future?

I’m not sure. I don’t have any huge plans right now. My mother has significant mobility and endurance issues . I really wish I could convince her to use ECV. I think she is a little to proud and nervous. It would open up some opportunities. She was also ill during the Aruba trip last winter and nervous about traveling internationally. My DD also has some mobility issues. I think I might work a little less, start riding my horse again, plan simple vacations and prepare for retirement some day.

Not caught up here but a couple Reddit highlights today:
CSR at 8/24 w/ pre-approval https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/950d1f/comment/e3qmcxm
Chase Performance Biz Banking fee charged in month 2 (big change I wasn’t charged until month 4 which was June, yeah I screwed up so I know exactly when they used to assess that fee!) https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/948nh8/comment/e3pbkfi

seriously doesnt sound right haha. My friend was in the same position, denied for 5/24.

I’m intrigued to hear more details on their DP. I thought pre-approvals were complete dead as a way around 5/24! Sounds like they were in branch with a fixed APR.

Are there any cons to opening a business card with an SSN as a sole proprietor? I am contemplating my next card 2-3 months down the line after the 2 Sapphires (will be 2/24).

I know it may or may not be a hard pull since I will already be opening 2 cards with Chase. It also looks like the Chase business cards do not actually get reported on the personal credit report. Is that correct? Would a Chase business account impact my utilization and/or average account age?

I also plan on opening a personal Chase savings and checking account, but I am not sure when the best time is. The current offer I have says it is good through 10/13, but I have been getting them for well over a year. IDK if 2 personal cards, 1 business card, and 2 personal accounts will be too much activity with Chase and potentially raise a red flag.

My mother also has mobility issues. She was adamant about not wanting an ECV for numerous trips for the same reasons (proud and nervous). I finally convinced her to try one and booked it for the minimum 2 nights just to test it out. She absolutely LOVED it! After a few hours she asked me to extend the reservation for the duration of the trip. The bell services CM at BC was extremely nice and showed her how to use it when we picked it up and besides going a little fast on the elevator the first day, she got the hang of it pretty fast.

That is so nice to hear. My DM needs one too but won't use one. I think she thinks it'll be hard to manage it, so she has stopped coming with us on trips. :sad2:

Oh I am so sorry to hear that! I hope positive reports can help convince her she can still enjoy WDW! I kept reading my mom reports from the "disABILITIES!" forum to help convince her. ECVs are so common and Disney is extremely accommodating and helpful during the process.

My mom was so happy when she was on it. In the past, I would always be mindful when planning our itinerary not to double back to different lands/attractions to minimize walking for her. I always incorporated breaks in the event she needed to ice or something. She did not need to ice, one application of biofreeze, or one Aleve! The ECV opened up so many new possibilities for her. We are even doing the Yuletide Fantasy Tour this December which never could have happened!

Mom has used one at Sea World and done fine. The walkways are less crowded so she doesn’t worry so much about running into someone.

DH and I opened a joint Chase personal checking account last year. At the time, I had 4 Chase cards, DH had 2. The personal banker was like, well you have quite a few cards. I said yes, we’ve been traveling more and they are all travel cards. No problem. I’ve since opened another card and DH has opened a Chase business card.

I’m sorry to hear your mom won’t travel. What about a wheelchair? Would she go for that?
Quite honestly, I rented my mom an ECV for a big family trip to WDW and it was a disaster. I wouldn’t ever do it again, I’d rather push the wheelchair. But my mom has slow reflexes and was terrible at managing the ECV.

That's great! It's so nice when people who need them finally realize that it makes the trip better for them and better for everyone with them! My MIL needs one but won't use one, and instead won't go to WDW anymore since she can only do about two days and then is too tired to keep going.

My dd18 also has mobility issues due to a chronic illness. After she first got sick and began having trouble walking long distances, we did one wdw trip and only used a wheelchair for a couple of days. She wanted to walk the other days as she was 16yo and a bit opposed to using the chair. Those days without it were exhausting and painful for her, and stressful for the rest of us. After that trip, she has never complained about using the chair. We ended up buying one because then we have it for local day trips like the zoo and museum, and it was less expensive to do that than continually rent one (probably different story than ECV!).

I'm sticking with the wheelchair for my dd too. She is 18yo now and technically could rent an ECV when we go but we don't mind pushing the chair - it's a transport chair and she's petite so it's easy...other than the hills in Epcot - You never realize how 'hilly' some parts of wdw are until you are pushing a grown person around lol. Plus, I know she has improved a lot but I also am not sure I trust her reflexes or just concentration in general for driving an ECV. She'd see a cute DisneyBound and completely run someone over lol!

I also opened a Chase checking and savings when I already had accumulated several Chase personal cards...in fact, the banker took note, and was the first person to let me know that if I had ever sold anything on ebay or CL, I should apply for the CIP lol! She said that was a 'real business' according to CHase and qualified me for a biz card. Well, ok then...sign me up! And I did shortly after :)

That is what I spent hours stressing over. And whether he should leave or stay so he can get everything replaced first. But, they were located around 2am. His morning flight was at 7am. I hope he got some sleep at the USO, or at least on this flight.

These are definitely the moments when you know you did a good job raising the kids and they are ready to fly the nest. He handled this with only a few text updates to me, not really asking me what to do, he just seemed to flow with it all. It was just me stressing.

When things like this happen to my kids -- missed connections, lost bags, 36 hours of travel -- my husband's favorite thing to say is, "They're young, they can handle it." And it's true -- they do.

The whole family went to South Korea a few years ago (one son was living in Taiwan so we met him in Seoul). The highlight was a tour of the DMZ between South and North Korea -- there's a building that sits on the border, and one side of the room is North and one side is South. Really great tour. If I recall correctly, you can only book through the USO.

...my motion sickness was fairly mild before children...and got worse after having babies. Not sure if that is normal or not.

ETA: I say I tried Bonine but

I have no clue if that’s in the cards for me but... NOOOOOO!!!!
I was waaay worse with my motion sickness as a child. When I was pregnant (in 1993! Where has the time gone?) we went to DL and I could ride without taking Bonine and without getting sick! After pregnancy the motion sickness returned. Now that I am past childbearing age the sickness has diminished again. Not to the level during pregnancy but not as bad as it was. Must have something to do with hormones. :confused3

Thank you. Seems like I should be ok then. I currently have 1 Chase card, but I will hopefully be at 3 soon. I think it will be good to open the savings and checking account in between the 2 Sapphires and the CIP (If I go the business card route).

Sorry to hear that! Glad the wheelchair is a possibility.

So true, it was definitely better for everyone. Sorry to hear your MIL won't go anymore, but it is nice that your daughter has a plan for trips and not just WDW.

Wow, that is great. I was hoping I could do the checking and savings accounts in between the personal and business cards to help pass time. It sounds like I may be targeted or presented with an offer so I will definitely do the accounts before the potential business card. I saw you could open them online, but I have a Chase in my town that is about a 2 minute car drive away so I may just go in person.

Sometimes there are higher offers in the branch than there are online for the biz cards. However, not all bankers may be as lenient as the one I have so be prepared to really 'defend' your business if you decide to go the branch route. I did not open in the branch, even though that is where I learned I could get a business card with Chase. I don't think I knew the offer was any different and I preferred to use the support link of someone here. The higher branch offer comes and goes so try to find out if it is available when you are ready. If it is, then in branch would be worth a try. If the offer is the same, it's fun to give back here by using a support link :D

My mom says she could ride anything while pregnant but non-pregnant, everything got to her. She said she rode roller coasters all during her pregnancy with me (anyone else remember AstroWorld in Houston?). I do think you may be right that it's hormonal. My motion sickness started with car sickness as a teen, and sadly, has only gotten progressively worse. I have to work hard while at WDW to be ok. I have young kids who love Dumbo and AstroOrbiter. I ride with them but really have to kind of 'disassociate' from the experience. I do better later in the day. The Maui cruise was early morning also which is my hardest time.
