I love credit cards so much!

:offtopic: but I can't find the old threads and I think a few of you fine folks have an Instapot. I'm wondering if I got an ok deal on one. Amazon kind of surprised me with it just now as a deal of the day, the Instant Pot DUO60 6 Qt 7-in-1 for $58.99+tax (down from 99.95). It was within my threshold so I threw it in the cart and then checked out. Now I'm second guessing since I didn't research it exhaustively :) Does that seem like a decent deal?
I was planning to get one as a few people I know suggested it and I was just waiting for big sale day, but I didn't realize there were so many models out now. Seems like every few months they throw another button on there so it can now be a "20-in-1" device :p I thought maybe for the Back to School push I might snag a deal on a previous model and just forgot about Prime Day.
I think that’s a good deal. I bought mine about two years ago and paid $59.99. It’s pretty basic with no frills.

What sw card did you have with a $79.99 fee? I thought they were $69 and $99. I have not heard any DPs of them retracting the points once they hit your RR account. I hope they don’t start doing that.
SW PLUS. Im sorry... it was 69.99. I had a $10 charge on it(forgot) I throw a small charge every month just to keep it active.. So my deal just got better...lol...

PSA Gyft users and Target shoppers:

So I came upon a new issue when trying to use Gyft to purchase a Target e-gift card. The Target gift card no longer comes delivered with an Event Number.

I purchased a Target gift card in line as I was about to pay, cashier scanned the barcode and her register prompted that it needed an Event Number. Cashier could not apply the gift card without an Event Number. The new e-gift cards don't come with an Event Number. The old ones did. I reached out to Gyft, and they replied:

"We apologize for any inconvenience. In order to obtain the event number, Target is now requiring that the gift card is registered online on Target.com or to download the Cartwheel app and register the gift card there."

I haven't gotten around to registering the Target gift card yet, but this is one added hassle if you're thinking about buying a Target gift card on your way to pay.

that is super annoying... Last time i went, they had to take my phone and input a #, i thought they were inputting the pin, not event number... :\

I was also super excited to see all of the great Amex offers out there this morning! I had almost all that folks have mentioned. One that hasn't been mentioned yet is that both of my kids had an offer to spend $50 at Amazon and get 2,000 MR. It was on both of their AU cards. I did not have it on my Platinum card that ties to their AUs. And I checked my card first, so it wasn't an issue with the way Amex is now dealing with offers from multiple logins (which is a real bummer). I hope it will actually work with both of their cards! It's good until the end of the year, so it is almost a sure bet that I'll be spending $100 at Amazon in the next 5.5 months, lol (more likely several multiples of that). I might have run into the multiple login thing not working this morning and just didn't realize it because I just finished catching up on this thread. I added an offer on my Platinum card for $15 off $50 at Plated (which we subscribe to). I also got it on my daughter's AU card and added it, but did not get it on my son's AU card. We all three have separate logins.

Well, it wasn’t my Barclays card in the mail today but yet another letter telling me the documents I need. I called in and talked to the less than friendly rep who confirmed I was approved with a $1000 credit limit (yeesh). I tried to ask about DH’s mystery application but the girl said she couldn’t talk to me about it and he’s unlikely to call in so I guess I’ll just wait and look for a letter and then call in if necessary before the promo ends on 7/29.

But yaaay 50k AA points for making one purchase!! I’m applying for the Citi AA Biz tomorrow too!

Great day today! I have always wanted to go to SDCC but never been able to find tickets. NYCC is the second biggest show. Well guess what, I was able to get Saturday New York City comic con tickets today! Our first time. They sold out within the hour they went on sale. Now to figure out our cosplay costumes!
I've never been to SDCC either but we've done NYCC for the last two years in a row, and are going again this year. We do the Sunday "Kids Day" because we can get a discounted ticket for my DD9 (younger DD is 5, so she's still free for this year). We don't even go to panels or anything, just walk around the show floor and do whatever kids' activities they have, and it's still a lot of fun.

Also finalized our Spring Break 2019 plans today with the release of JetBlue’s schedule. First stop is NYC for Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theater. Free night stay at the New Yorker hotel courtesy of Wyndham points. Then we fly to Las Vegas for 5 days. Nonstop AA flights from JFK. Bryce and Zion on the list during our stay. Booked red eye direct flights back for 10,000 true blue points each plus $5.60 in taxes. Hotel will be 3 nights using ihg points and free night cert at the Palazzo and our last night at the Hyatt Place Las Vegas. So glad to be booked and done.
Sounds like fun, and I'm jealous of your completed plans! I was waiting for JetBlue's schedule release to book flights for our February break trip to either Aruba or Grand Cayman, but the prices are absolutely astronomical. I didn't think they'd be cheap, because it is President's Week and going south from here in the winter is always pricey, but there is some serious price gouging going on. I'm talking $1200 per person RT to Aruba, and over $800pp to Grand Cayman. For connecting flights. In economy. I had checked the prices for other weeks (holiday weeks, even) to get an idea, and they were around $400-$500 RT. I'm not married to Jet Blue, but prices on Delta, American, & Southwest aren't any better. Maybe I'm out of touch and that's what I should expect to pay to fly to the Caribbean from NYC that week, but I don't even have enough UR points for 4 tickets at those prices.

I'm keeping the hotel reservations I have with Marriott for now, and will keep watching the flights to see if the come down, but we're also looking at other options. One I'm looking at is Puerto Rico, and trying to book the St. Regis Bahia Beach for 60,000 Starriott points/night after the merger. I didn't think I'd be one of the people trying for those high-end redemptions but I may give it a shot! Should I preemptively transfer all of my SPG points into Marriott now so they're already pooled whenever the transfer happens?

New 30,000 points offer on the BoA Amtrak World card:

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/bank-of-america-amtrak-credit-card-30000-point-bonus/

As a frequent Amtrak rider, I have many positive thoughts about this card, but the short version is that Amtrak points are worth 2.9cpp (or around 2.5cpp on Acela travel), plus you get a companion coupon, making this bonus worth close to $900 easily. If you don't want to ride Amtrak it's obviously worthless.

BoA is one of the few banks left that are easy to churn assuming you follow their rules. This is the second time I've held this card (previously opened 9/2017, closed 4/2018).
This is tempting. What are BoA's rules for time between cards? I opened this card in 12/2016 & closed it in 12/2017. Can I get it again yet? I still have almost 15K points left from the last 30K bonus I got, but booking for 4 people takes a chunk of points. I used my companion coupon to book a trip for just DW & I next month to save the points for another time.

PS - Still no Marriott Premier Plus decision for me. :(

how about this one? im not sure it this is a Air fryer or not... Convection?
https://slickdeals.net/f/11813727-b...y-s-egift-card-20-after-rebates-free-shipping

Thanks for looking out! I need a big one. :) Just ordered from Lowes. FYI to all- Their whole website is 10% off, plus ebates is 4%, plus 10% amex rebate....I have ordered several things. :yay:

I can't even get into the site right now. I get a "prime day" page with a button that says "shop all deals" but when you press that it just takes you to another page with categories and another "shop all deals" button. Press that one and you go back to the first page, they have a good loop going on. Hopefully it rights itself shortly, I think I was watching something that comes up in about 10 minutes. Guess I'll futz some more...

Thats exactly what mine was doing.

I was in the same boat but got the Instant Pot they were offering for $85.92.

Ok, more of my incessant Hilton rambling/thinking out loud...

What is the likelihood of me receiving an room upgrade for being a Hilton Gold member? I was thinking maybe instead of paying the full cash price, I could book a standard 2 queen room and pay for one night with cash and one night with points. Then maybe I'd get an upgrade on check in for being gold? Would prefer a king bed, but it won't be the end of the world if we just end up in the standard queen.

BoA has a 2/3/4 rule on personal cards - 2/30 days, 3/12 months, 4/24 months. You are more than good to go.

King isn't usually an upgrade, unless it is a king jr suite. I generally put a note in the booking comments "prefer king bed pls" and then sometimes if I remember I will call on check in day and ask again.

I paid $70 for that one two years ago on black friday. I love it! Might get one for DHs aunt...

Thanks! Maybe I’ll try that. We’ll be checking in at about 9:30 that morning so perhaps I can get in there early enough to request a king room.

My first statement hasn't even closed yet on CSP. What are the odds that I contact Chase and say oops applied for wrong card, let's make this CSR?
Just a data point...they will not let me do this. They also said you cannot hold more than 1 sapphire card. So I'm not sure what I'll do at this point...considering requesting PC after meeting MSR or have DH apply for CSR. But back to back $4k MSRs will be difficult for me right now. Or maybe I just live with CSP awhile

Arrrrrggggghhhhh - I think we've missed out on another bonus in that case. Remember my sister that got the 7-10 day notice and then had to provide proof of address? That referral never posted! So now my bonuses that I've missed out on for one reason or another:

SPG Biz
Fidelity
CIP
Plastiq

I'm about to give up.
You’ll see it in pending first. Then it will post after your statement closes. Did you look at “earning on next statement” section?

Is there any way to pay with points at a Hilton hotel when I have an existing cash reservation already booked? Thanks to someone kindly using my Hilton referral link, I now have enough points to pay for one night of my DL stay! Wondering if I need to call and see if they can apply points to my already existing reservation or if they could do it at the front desk?
You need to cancel and rebook. When I called, they said they couldn’t. I checked first to make sure nights were still available. If you didn’t use any points at all the first time, just book with points, then cancel the old one.
