PSA Gyft users and Target shoppers:

So I came upon a new issue when trying to use Gyft to purchase a Target e-gift card. The Target gift card no longer comes delivered with an Event Number.

I purchased a Target gift card in line as I was about to pay, cashier scanned the barcode and her register prompted that it needed an Event Number. Cashier could not apply the gift card without an Event Number. The new e-gift cards don't come with an Event Number. The old ones did. I reached out to Gyft, and they replied:

"We apologize for any inconvenience. In order to obtain the event number, Target is now requiring that the gift card is registered online on Target.com or to download the Cartwheel app and register the gift card there."

I haven't gotten around to registering the Target gift card yet, but this is one added hassle if you're thinking about buying a Target gift card on your way to pay.
It’s pretty easy to add a GC to Target app if that’s all it is. I add all those little ones I get feee. You just have to remember to look at you available GCs in the app and place a check next to which one(s) you want to use. Then they scan your barcode, it applies cartwheel offers and GCs. It is an extra step though.
 
Just a data point...they will not let me do this. They also said you cannot hold more than 1 sapphire card. So I'm not sure what I'll do at this point...considering requesting PC after meeting MSR or have DH apply for CSR. But back to back $4k MSRs will be difficult for me right now. Or maybe I just live with CSP awhile

I think you should be able to upgrade after you earn the bonus, maybe they require a year before upgrading but I don’t think so. Regardless, I would refer your DH to the CSP and then have him apply to the CSR on the same day. You can only hold one sapphire but you can get around this by applying to both on the same day. As for meeting the MSR you can open a PNC checking and savings account and fund the intial deposit with putting 2k on your credit card so you can knock off one MSR that way. (2k for savings 2k for checking) you can also potentially earn a cash bonus. (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/pnc-up-to-300-checking-bonus-no-state-restriction/) just limit your cash advance limit just incase something changes. I have used PNC funding for help meeting MSR in three Chase cards. don’t forget to refer your DH to the CSP that’s 10,000 UR.
 
I've never been to SDCC either but we've done NYCC for the last two years in a row, and are going again this year. We do the Sunday "Kids Day" because we can get a discounted ticket for my DD9 (younger DD is 5, so she's still free for this year). We don't even go to panels or anything, just walk around the show floor and do whatever kids' activities they have, and it's still a lot of fun.


Sounds like fun, and I'm jealous of your completed plans! I was waiting for JetBlue's schedule release to book flights for our February break trip to either Aruba or Grand Cayman, but the prices are absolutely astronomical. I didn't think they'd be cheap, because it is President's Week and going south from here in the winter is always pricey, but there is some serious price gouging going on. I'm talking $1200 per person RT to Aruba, and over $800pp to Grand Cayman. For connecting flights. In economy. I had checked the prices for other weeks (holiday weeks, even) to get an idea, and they were around $400-$500 RT. I'm not married to Jet Blue, but prices on Delta, American, & Southwest aren't any better. Maybe I'm out of touch and that's what I should expect to pay to fly to the Caribbean from NYC that week, but I don't even have enough UR points for 4 tickets at those prices.

I'm keeping the hotel reservations I have with Marriott for now, and will keep watching the flights to see if the come down, but we're also looking at other options. One I'm looking at is Puerto Rico, and trying to book the St. Regis Bahia Beach for 60,000 Starriott points/night after the merger. I didn't think I'd be one of the people trying for those high-end redemptions but I may give it a shot! Should I preemptively transfer all of my SPG points into Marriott now so they're already pooled whenever the transfer happens?


This is tempting. What are BoA's rules for time between cards? I opened this card in 12/2016 & closed it in 12/2017. Can I get it again yet? I still have almost 15K points left from the last 30K bonus I got, but booking for 4 people takes a chunk of points. I used my companion coupon to book a trip for just DW & I next month to save the points for another time.

PS - Still no Marriott Premier Plus decision for me. :(
I did notice really high prices on JetBlue. EWR to MCO was insane so glad we ditched our original plan to go to Disney for spring break. I guess nobody goes to Vegas for Easter? We love the weather at that time..warm but not 100 degree June, July, August weather.

I think I may now be done with Prime Day because I just can't take how crappy the site has become. I absolutely cannot see anything I'm watching now. I had like 4-5 things I was curious about so I put them on the watch list. The first one I totally missed because of the site crashing AND the notification didn't come from the app. I can't consistently get the watch list to appear on the web site, the one time I got it it was only showing items from that category (of which I had none) so that's a blow; last year I'd see everything. So while waiting for the site to come back to me, I updated the app on my phone to see if a newer version may finally fix the notification issues (I've never had notifications functioning 100% from the amazon app). That update at least let me see the watch list when I went into notifications... but it was a brief victory. While I was viewing the list I'm not sure if I touched something or it automatically updated but my list went away replaced with the Prime Deals page that only shows Active and Upcoming :headache:
In all that I'm not getting notifications at all for any of them. And they somehow managed to lock up my browser, which then locked up my computer and I just finally got it restarted. Giant fail for Amazon today.

I’m still having issues with my chase ur flights to Vancouver. I can’t upgrade to purchase seats because the tickets are so screwed up. Chase doesn’t know what to do except they recommended I just show up at the airport and get seats assigned then. I nicely explained that we weren’t sitting on a plane for five hours in middle seats if we didn’t absolutely have to. Chase is at a loss. WestJet is at a loss. It’s such a pain in the butt!

I am with you! Besides the instant pot, I used the primebooks18 for $5 off of $20 deal to pre-order the new Fantastic Beasts and other book that DS11 wants.

Seriously though, this sailing is on *GT rate and is the week of 2 if my kids’ bdays in dec. I’d use UR making it an even better deal. We’d do this in lieu of Alaska next May since that is going to be a logistical nightmare now that we are moving back to SC then. And we wouldn’t get to do DL at Christmastime this year but there is always next year.
I am so jealous of you who are married to Disney loving spouses.

Ok, now I am intrigued! Although I am sure DH won’t want to pull DS11 out 7th grade for a week. Especially since two of his classes will count towards his high school GPA.

I’d take it as whatever answer you prefer. So yes it is! My DH loves Disney but is still un-helpful. I do everything, I mean everything. All planning, accruing of points and $, budgeting, booking, etc. and I work too. He just packs his stuff and drives us to the airport. Voila, done!
 
Possibly dumb plastiq question. Now that I've got the CIP (well, my husband does, I have an employee card), I'm looking to set up some payments. I have a car payment through Honda Financial Services. The Honda finance that comes up in plastiq has a different payer address than is on my statement. Is that normal? Do I just set them up as a new payee? I haven't checked Ford yet for my husband's car payment. (And yes, I used a support link to sign up, will be sending PM shortly).
 
You need to cancel and rebook. When I called, they said they couldn’t. I checked first to make sure nights were still available. If you didn’t use any points at all the first time, just book with points, then cancel the old one.

Yeah that’s what I was hoping to do but they are out of king rooms and I’m afraid I’d cancel and then my king room I had would poof :( I weighed my options some more though and the points/cash booking for a queen room really only saves me about $80 because I got such a low cash rate for the king room and now the queen rooms are higher. So looks like I’ll jusr charge the $290 to my Hilton and get the 3x points.

I don’t think anyone understands what the problem is and they keep giving me different solutions. The first woman I talked to at chase ticket change (or whatever it was called) was so rude and kept telling me different things and finally told me the problem was it was a delta ticket so I needed to call delta to get seats. Which is not the case. Chase and WestJet are working on it but Both sides seem clueless/helpless. I’m not sure i’d Use ur to book codeshare flights again. But maybe I’m just having sucky luck.

God, are you me? I do it all too, including figuring out the churning, earning the points, figuring out which cards to use and apply for - DH will happily drive to the airport and hoist the suitcase out the trunk. At least he's willing to take trips I guess. :rolleyes:

You can pay it directly from PNC or you can transfer the money back into your normal account. You need to keep some money in the account to keep it fee free. $300 in savings and it varies for the checking I get a free checking account because I’m a student but my SO has to keep $500 in his. The accounts can be closed after 6 months. Kind of annoying but I keep track of them with excel and the cash bonus is nice and posted quickly after I met the requirements.

It's possible that u send ur payment to the closest location to where ur located. Example, if i live in LA, then the payment would go to, say Texas instead of say... new York.
