I love credit cards so much!

You can pay it directly from PNC or you can transfer the money back into your normal account. You need to keep some money in the account to keep it fee free. $300 in savings and it varies for the checking I get a free checking account because I’m a student but my SO has to keep $500 in his. The accounts can be closed after 6 months. Kind of annoying but I keep track of them with excel and the cash bonus is nice and posted quickly after I met the requirements.

I feel like I may have asked before, but can you get a bonus with the student account? Need to open one for DD but was just going to go for student account and not try for a bonus. I didn’t think you could get the bonus with the student account.

Quick q.
On chase, you click an entry and it tells you how much rewards you received. I cant figured how to do that on Amex. Does Amex offer something like that?

BoA has a 2/3/4 rule on personal cards - 2/30 days, 3/12 months, 4/24 months. You are more than good to go.
Thanks! I’m waiting to see if I’ve been approved for the Marriott Premier Plus card; if I’m denied and can’t push through an approval on recon, I might pick this one up for some easy Amtrak points to make myself feel better, lol.

I did notice really high prices on JetBlue. EWR to MCO was insane so glad we ditched our original plan to go to Disney for spring break. I guess nobody goes to Vegas for Easter? We love the weather at that time..warm but not 100 degree June, July, August weather.
Yeah, I really like the service on Jet Blue, but sometimes their prices are very high. I wish I could convince my mom to cancel extended family Easter and go on a trip with us instead for Spring break. There are several places I'm looking at as alternatives for President's week that won't be quite warm enough for my liking in Feb but would be perfect in April.

I’d take it as whatever answer you prefer. So yes it is! My DH loves Disney but is still un-helpful. I do everything, I mean everything. All planning, accruing of points and $, budgeting, booking, etc. and I work too. He just packs his stuff and drives us to the airport. Voila, done!
Same here! I handle all the credit cards, points, planning, booking etc for all of our trips, and work full time. DW does take care of the kids though, I guess that's important. And she does the driving. I can technically, legally, drive a car but I haven't done it in so many years I'm not sure anyone wants me to at this point.

Frontier moved my return flight from MCO in October AGAIN today, making my departure even later (like 9:30p). When I originally bought the tickets, there were two flights scheduled. I paid more for the early afternoon departure. Then a month later the early flight was canceled and I was put on the 8p return... now 9:30p, which just sucks.

I don't suppose Disney resorts have courtesy rooms do they? The upside is that I get another whole day at Disney but I don't want to be sweaty/gross at the airport either.

God, are you me? I do it all too, including figuring out the churning, earning the points, figuring out which cards to use and apply for - DH will happily drive to the airport and hoist the suitcase out the trunk. At least he's willing to take trips I guess.

LOL - I feel I need to stand up for all Disney and Cruise loving DH's out there. :yay:

In our household, I will happily do all the research, planning, churning, getting DW to use the right card, booking, more research, price checking, re-booking, more planning, packing (OK, I lied about that one)....AND I will still happily drive to the airport and hoist the multiple suitcases out of the trunk. :P

My wife often says I would enter a state of panic if I am not actively planning a vacation.

I think so. I didn’t go for the bonus because I wasn’t in a target state when I opened the account, so I thought I couldn’t get it. But my student account is just a regular virtual wallet account.

ETA: I applied for the Virtual wallet account and then SMed them with my school information asking to waive the fee.

I don't get how AMEX allocates those deals. I checked this morning and had a bunch of new offers, but not the Banana Republic one. So I asked DH to check and he has that one, when I do almost all the shopping. Oh, and I've got Bark Box and Pet Meds in mine, and no dog to spend money on. :rotfl:Thanks to all of you who posted that we might have different offers to choose from. That 4Seasons one is tempting, but I honestly don't need to spend that $750 at one of their hotels (even though I want the 15K points)...

Do you have Priority Pass? They have showers at the MCO lounge.

@disneymagicgirl my husband doesn’t like vacations at all. He just likes to be home! He just loves me and since I put up with his crazy he puts up with mine. This planning and scheming (for Disney or trips on points) is a huge part of the fun for me. At least he isn’t saying no!

YAs for meeting the MSR you can open a PNC checking and savings account and fund the intial deposit with putting 2k on your credit card so you can knock off one MSR that way. (2k for savings 2k for checking) you can also potentially earn a cash bonus. (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/pnc-up-to-300-checking-bonus-no-state-restriction/) just limit your cash advance limit just incase something changes. I have used PNC funding for help meeting MSR in three Chase cards.
Is it just a known strategy to credit card fund? DoC article says that doesn't qualify as direct deposit.

I appreciate all the advice although I am cautious! I'm definitely not an experienced churner. We usually open 1-2 cards a year just for quick (and small) cash back and try to maximize points with low earning cards (so far Freedom and Blue Cash Everyday). I am looking to step my game up! Maybe just one step right now though. All of these plans are tempting to try though!

Yep, have PP. Thought about the shower there - checked it out in January. It would be easier to use a hotel but I'll probably use the lounge.

Question.... I opened an Amex account last month. It's not showing on my CR as an inquiry. Is there a reason why? (Hilton Amex, applied and approved immediately on Jun 24)

It’s pretty well known with some heavy churners. I asked on Reddit one time and someone has opened 8 PNC accounts and funded with a card lol

Credit card funding doesn’t trigger the Direct Deposit you will have to do a direct deposit or look for a bank transfer that codes as a direct deposit. I did a transfer from Chase that coded as a direct deposit and then did 10 .50 cent reloads onto my amazon account with the debit card.

Do whatever you are comfortable with. If you aren’t comfortable funding a bank account that’s ok. You can just do one card at a time, wait until you have a big expense and then do the double dip, use Plastiq, buy giftcards whatever you are comfortable with.

Unfortunately, I don’t put a lot on credit cards every month. The fee to pay my rent is very high and my SO is not comfortable using Plastiq so in order for me to meet minimum spend I open bank accounts and buy giftcards and turn those into money orders.

Amex doesn't always hard pull. I got my SPG Biz in March, first business application and first amex in over 15 years... they still relied on soft pull info. That's one point in their favor.

Amex takes awhile to report. 2-3 months I think.

So... I'm almost done the MSR and wouldn't mind another card to take its place. Should I wait 30 days from my application date, or would I be okay to apply now, since it's not showing on my CR? Just trying to capitalize where I can!

I think there's showers at all of the resort pools. You could use one of those before taking DME.

What card did you want to go for? And if it’s chase what are your stats? When were your last apps, 5/24 status?

Did we determine there are Disney GCs at Buy Buy Baby? I don't have one in my area, but there's one I could stop at on my way home from my PA trip to pick up a $25 one since I have the $5 back deal on DH's Delta Gold card.

@GusGus16 did:

I swung by the nearest buybuy baby to me over the weekend, and the only GCs they carried were their own and BB&B. So YMMV?

Thanks everyone for posting about the Amex offers this morning, I was able to add best buy and BBB offers to my SPG personal. I then went and bought a 25 dollar disney gift card from both BBB and Baby.

I can't post pictures but I did take pictures of both gift card displays. At both BBB and Baby they had multiple different prepaid visas, ebay, starbucks, i hop, apple, olive garden, red lobster, buffalo wild wings, dominos, cheesecake factory, subway (a few other restaurants if interested in something specific ask), google play, panera, gap, nike, nordstrom, american eagle, forever 21, Gap, shell, foot locker, barnes and noble, game stop, amc, barnes and noble, and banana republic. @Albort
