I love credit cards so much!

Is anyone able to login to Chase UR portal (either directly or through your Chase accounts)? I’ve tried two different login accounts, 2 browsers including Chrome incognito as well as the mobile chase app. Just brings up a blank screen. Trying to proactively move points to CSR for the Norwegian Cruise I’m working on moving over to Chase.

Thanks!

Yes, same here. At some point an error appeared ‘this part of the site is currently unavailable’ or something of that nature. This was back on the account’s page.

Yep, having trouble getting to that section of the site as I obsessively check to see if my DH's CF bonus has posted yet...just a blank screen. Glad to know I'm not alone!

Any of you Californians want to chime in on my itinerary? I have 2 weeks and plan to drive down the coast in January. I assume route 1 has been fixed or will be fixed by then?? Guess I need to check that. The plan:

Fly into SFO - arrive late and stay at airport hotel
Spend 3 nights in Monterey at Intercontinental on points (we like to hike - lots of hiking around here it seems)
On to Santa Ynez valley/Santa Barbara for 4 nights
Then where??? - I have 3-4 nights to play with here - Joshua tree?? Catalina Island??
Ideally, we'd like to end the trip at Disneyland for 3 nights before flying home

I was initially thinking we'd spend a couple nights in L.A. doing the touristy thing, but really we mostly want to be outside. Not sure we'd be thrilled with L.A. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Montana de Oro state park, just south of Morro Bay has a gorgeous hike along the bluffs.

Had anyone been reading this rumor on DOC? Seems so extreme! No bonus if you've gotten a Marriott or Ritz bonus or upgrade in the last 24 mos... who do they think ththeththey are, chase?

https://www.doctorofcredit.com/rumor-american-express-chase-to-team-up-limit-marriott-spg-bonuses/

Wondering if now would be a good time to pick up Chase's Marriott cards before they add a restriction that denies bonuses if you received a SPG bonus in the past 24 months. Unfortunately, I just picked up the CIC last month and the SPG personal in April, and I don't want to push my luck with the Marriott 100k offer before it expires 7/12.

The rumor mentions Amex teaming up with Chase, or maybe Marriott insisting on the limitation. If Amex can deny you a bonus based on information about your cards and bonuses from Chase; Chase could deny you a bonus based on information about your cards and bonuses from Amex. Chase already has a "one Marriott (consumer) card" rule, so its possible as Marriott and SPG merge Chase may view SPG cards as part of the Marriott family of cards.

But... why? That's the part I don't get. The card issuers benefit most if they're able to tout how many people signed up for their new cards with investors but this drastically limits that pool. Maybe Marriott made their new points much more expensive to Amex and Chase in this deal so the credit card companies need to be more careful how they pass them out?

When Chase's sites drive me bonkers I try again tomorrow.

To be honest, i think theres too many Marriott Cards out there... i count... 6 cards in total by Aug 1st.
cant imagine how much points will be out there with that many cards.
cant imagine the # of free nights that will be redeemed with that many cards.

it sounds like Marriott's making the call and not Amex/Chase. cuz 24 months bonus on Amex is a chase/citi thing, not amex.

Budzooka's shut down is a rather strange one simply because it was only the business card shut down vs a all out shut down. His personal cards are still okay. I honestly think this is just some freak action where he was caught by some kind of algorithm. I honestly am clueless on why though.

edit: @Angeliki19 If you were concerned about this shut down, dont. it sounds more like a bad rare bad fluke. out of the 1000s of datapoints out there, this is one of of kind. lets just put it at there.

I’m still trying to get more information on this. My case has been assigned to an advisor with Chase Executive Office to research and follow up with me. The only communication thus far is they received my request and have assigned the case. I’m anxiously awaiting additional information.

I’ve read up on other instances where folks have been shut down from Chase because of an affiliate and most of it is because of some pretty outrageous stuff such as multiple wire transfers, depositing large volumes of money orders, lawsuits involving the bank, etc. All stuff that I haven’t been involved in.

What’s crazy is my banking relationship with Chase has been pretty minimal. I only have 2 personal credit cards with them before this CIP, although I did open a checking and saving account with them last year to get the bonus. I’m halfway wondering if that isn’t what has prompted this. I opened up the accounts, kept the minimum balance I needed to collect the bonus and then shut them down 6 months later. Maybe that got me on their radar. And maybe not, I have no idea.

The strangest thing is they haven’t closed down my personal accounts, but I think it is just a matter of time. If they view me as a risk for a business card, it makes no sense to keep my personal accounts. I just know I haven’t done anything off the rails to justify a shutdown. It’s got me worried about identity theft, but there haven’t been any new credit cards opened under my name, which I would think would be one of the first things that would happen.

I agree that you guys shouldn’t be worried this will happen to you. This seems to be a very rare instance (lucky me!). I’ll definitely share when I know more to keep you all informed. In the meantime, earn some UR’s for me!

Ok I need some advice as a follow up to my earlier post...

Should I intentionally abandon my 5/24 status? I'm currently 3/24, plus have two Chase business cards (marriott and CIP). DH also has a CIP and CIC. DH will double dip CSR/CSP in September or October and I'll PC my then one year old CSP to CFU. So there aren't really any other UR earning cards for me other than CIU, which I'm not particularly bothered about getting at this time. My only other real interest in Chase cards would be the personal Marriott card or United cards. DH is only 1/24 so he could get these cards for us after his double dip. I'm worried about being in shutdown territory since I'm 4/12 with Chase including my business cards.

Vacation plans are WDW- 2019, Tokyo- 202, UAE- 2021.

Other cards I'm interested in:
I've gotten several mailers on AA, and AA is the next most reasonable option for flights to Tokyo after using United miles to transfer to ANA. AA seems pretty easy to accrue and has more card options across Citi and Barclays it seems like. I also do not have any of the SPG cards, and would like to get those when the new offers come out (assuming they're decent) so I can have those for transferability. I also have NO MR earning cards.

Thoughts? Am I crazy for wanting to branch out and hit some of these airline cards so I can book award flights to Tokyo next year?

Well you know I’m going to advise LOL/24. I won’t churn my most lucrative cards. I don’t poop where I eat as they say. I’d rather max my return on using them. I’ve only ever churned one Chase card and that was the BA.

If I had to strategize to stay under 5/24 even in 2 player mode, I’d have to give up a whole lot of what we are able to do. I’m just not willing to do that. I see it this way, the more points we can accumulate then the more we can travel.

You’re not going to get a “like” from me by telling me the cold hard truth.

It's not because you hit a bonus on their bank accounts. SO many churners have been churning Chase bonuses for years. They would have shut down your bank account, not a business credit card. I did once see a dp on someone's Chase bank account being shutdown but they were going for like their 8th chase checking bonus and the only thing shutdown was their bank account. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hmm, dh is 2/24 and just approved for CIC today. Would it be totally risky to go for Marriott card? I am 5/24, maybe I should pick up the marriott biz...

I don't want to get locked out since we have gotten SPG bonuses in last several months!

@speedyfishy - Train is leaving the station for discover debit MO's. Specifically mentioned in new terms:
https://www.doctorofcredit.com/disc...ction-for-cash-equivalents-and-peer-payments/

I wonder if they will be able to tell if i bought an MO though. I went yesterday and got two so I’ll see. There is a concerning comment that MOs at Walmart are hardcoded against discover debit now. I tried to get two a few weeks ago and got delicined. I thought it was a fraud alert but I called discover and they didn’t even see an attempted transaction. I went yesterday and everything was fine though.
