I love credit cards so much!

On the go, but basically 1 credit card approval in a rolling 5 day period; limit 2 credit card approvals in 90 days (2/90); limit 4-5 credit cards open at a time.

Limits do not apply to Amex charge cards (Green, Gold, Platinum and biz versions). So you can even mix a few charge card apps in with a credit card app for an app-o-rama to combine pull.

What Amex card(s) are you looking at?

Thanks! I am thinking Hilton biz x2 but we’re not 90 days since the last cards.

I’m trying to get my points topped off in time to book hawaii hotels when SW releases flights.

ETA: I don’t have my spreadsheet in front of me but I think I did SPG biz on 3/1 and personal 4/16. DH SPG biz 4/16.

AF hit on the SPG biz card. I called for a retention offer. The CSR was really good about explaining the new reward night and the how the value of the night would far outweigh the fee. I explained have have to wait until April next year since the benefit doesn't go live until August 1st and the value was subjective since there isn't a full category chart yet. We debated over the assumed value and I pointed out how no one wants to stay at a cat 1-5 Marriott so I wasn't holding my breath on SPG 35k night being worth keeping the card. I went into detail on how I was losing 30% value on my spending/earning ROI which is what I rely on for airline transfers and that was my main purpose for having the card. He explained about the 4x on dining and gas and I explained I'd have to wait another 4 months to even see that come to fruition much less analyze whether or not it would make up for the loss especially when there are other cards that earn that much or more with better ROI value in those categories. It went on for a long time (52 minutes) and was quite the ping pong match as far as debates go.

I have to say I have never come across a CSR that was so knowledgeable about the product and the other Amex products. He went into detail on how utilizing other products in the Amex portfolio would likely make up for the loss when combined. I was thoroughly impressed. In the end, he offered me 10,000 SPG points as a retention. I told him I was very appreciative as that would give me an incentive to run the numbers and see if the new 4x categories and the combination suggestions he made would work in my favor. I hope I get a survey as he was very good and even managed to teach me a couple of things regarding some of my other Amex cards.

Ouch. Thanks for reminding me. I'm not calling about the annual fee but about the free night. I won't get one until next March. Looks like my daughter will get hers in August on one of her SPG cards. Now I've got to haunt @calypso726 's post on this. Should have copied and pasted.....off to search for it.....

@Judique - found it for you.

This is exactly how I am meeting my spg biz and personal MSR's. So, far it's working nicely. I don't like paying the fee but I like not worrying about it.
But the return outweighs it so much! I think after we get our car stuff settled, I'm going to see if DH will go for moving certain bills to Plastiq as long as CIP is paying 3x, and trying to use found money to cover the fee. Like my car payment, it would be an $11 fee for $21 in points. I will take that return all day long!

Yep, love the CIP/plastiq combo. Unfortunately, I am not that back with the Amex cards I'm using right now but even with the fee, it's worth it to me since the points are so valuable and I cannot meet the MSR's without using plastiq.

Your dh seems easy going. I bet he'll go for it!

Thank you! I will use paypal P2P as last resort, but we need to meet DH's Marriott MSR before the July statement closes (to get the Marriott Package before 8/1). And thanks for that link, we actually do need some Uber $ for our Disney trip next week... 2 more sleeps - I'm so freaking excited. We are going to surprise our girls on Sunday.

Our return flight is at 6AM and I don't want to ride the DME at 3AM. Anyone know what time we need to take an Uber from CSR to MCO for a 6AM SW Flight?

We leave next Friday. Week from now we will be on the plane. I echo your excitement!

I’ve never done Uber to the airport but have had many early morning 7 am flights out. One nice thing in the morning is no traffic that early. But the MCO airport, at least in the Delta terminal, is absolutely slammed. I think from CSR to MCO would be about 30 minutes. How early to leave I don’t know. Have you considered spending the night at the MCO Hyatt? Depending what night and if opening right now rooms around 12000 Hyatt points (straight across transfer from UR’s).

This group feels like friends, not strangers.:grouphug:

It is pretty funny. We have such a strong commonality here on this thread. To outsiders explaining WDW is already like talking another language (or as a co worker said today when I was asked about WDW and fastpasses) a “weird German board game.” When you add the interest and love of Disney to the credit card churning for travel we really are a peculiar set of friends!

Awfully quiet here tonight. Usually when I’m 6-7 pages behind, this balloons even further to 10-12 pages by the evening. But of course, I’m all caught up and it’s crickets :rolleyes1:laughing: :wave2:

Is it terrible that I’ve been thinking about getting the next card after the next two cards that I haven’t even gotten yet all day?

I guess most of us are plotting and scheming. That's when things get quiet. For example: I̶'̶m̶ ̶b̶u̶y̶i̶n̶g̶ My brother, is buying SPG points to pad his new account. My nephew thinks this is a good idea and will buy SPG points before May 31st. If they can't find a great use for them before August 1st, they will likely have to transfer those points to me. I've agreed to adopt their points if they can't care for them properly. Seeing as they have both recently moved in, it shouldn't be a hardship.

:yay: Hi everyone, TGIF! Haven't posted in a couple days. Really want a new card - specifically the Amex Biz plat 100k but I can't hit the insane spend.
Haven't pulled the trigger on the Amazon Prime card I want... I'd rather get a boatload of points but there isn't a whole lot I'm interested in right now... plus I'm trying to spend less overall because of my FIRE goals. When I get a new card, I always spend more than normal. The struggle is real.

I have to tell you about our experience at the MCO Hyatt. Dh & I stayed there on our arrival night (landed at 11:30pm) and then stayed there on our last night (would have had to be turning in the car at 6:30am so decided to have a lazy morning). We got off the plane and headed to the hotel, and wow, it is just so nice and convenient to walk right there. We hadn't checked bags so it was really fast. Got into our 6th floor, standard room by midnight, and got settled in (shower, pj'ed and in bed). Dh is right to sleep but me, it takes me awhile to settle down, and feel my way around a new bed. At about 1:45, I hear an alarm going off. I am hearing a siren but also loud speaker talking. I literally fly up, thinking something bad is happening, and run to look out the windows. Expecting to see people running around, instead I see people just milling about. People sitting on benches, janitors slowly pushing brooms and emptying trash cans. So, I get back in bed thinking this will stop at any time. Nope. Keeps going so I get back up and go out on the balcony to try to hear what the speaker voice is saying but I can't understand what's being said. People are still just slowly moving around though so I assume there is no reason to be concerned. This goes on for 2 hours! I fall asleep and then am woken up again at about 6am as the airport opens back up. The opening procedures include lots of noise as they open up the concourse. So, I am back up (light sleeper is putting it mildly)...My dh slept through it all

We go to check out and the guy asks how our night was...so I tell him about my night and that we are back there in 5 days and I do not want a room where I can hear all the crazy stuff going on at night. He says he will go ahead and upgrade us to a room that looks out onto the runway, and assures me it will be much quieter. Sure enough, we arrive 5 days later and are given a 10th floor (top floor) runway-facing room. SO FUN! We facetimed our kids from there cause our youngest loves all vehicles and we could see the tram, planes, buses (including disney) and luggage carriers. It's pretty much his dream! And add to that...NASA shot off a rocket while we were there! So we got pics of that!

Not a huge fan of the standard room but loved the runway room!

ETA: Upon checking back in, the lady says that apparently, it was an airport drill that went on all that first night and that should not have happened. Either way, I told her I'd never stay in one of the interior rooms again.

:rotfl2:You’re so generous!

We are staying there on arrival night.
We don’t want to stay there the night before departure because the day before is just a pool day.

We are so excited to arrive and crash for the night. I really hope that those alarms aren’t the norm, cuz I won’t be able to sleep.

I still don't know if my dh is approved for the CIC but all I can think is what is after the CIC...???? I'm gonna have to lay it all out here and get some guidance!

I’m eying the Amex Blue Business Plus after the CIC if I can get the 20k MR bonus/$5k MSR offer. (I’ve pulled it a few times via incognito.) 2 MR on everything up to $50k/calendar year, $0 AF.

I'm guessing they are not the norm, and you will be fine. It was just really crazy. I can't imagine that happens too often. Otherwise, no one would stay there, right??
