I have to tell you about our experience at the MCO Hyatt. Dh & I stayed there on our arrival night (landed at 11:30pm) and then stayed there on our last night (would have had to be turning in the car at 6:30am so decided to have a lazy morning). We got off the plane and headed to the hotel, and wow, it is just so nice and convenient to walk right there. We hadn't checked bags so it was really fast. Got into our 6th floor, standard room by midnight, and got settled in (shower, pj'ed and in bed). Dh is right to sleep but me, it takes me awhile to settle down, and feel my way around a new bed. At about 1:45, I hear an alarm going off. I am hearing a siren but also loud speaker talking. I literally fly up, thinking something bad is happening, and run to look out the windows. Expecting to see people running around, instead I see people just milling about. People sitting on benches, janitors slowly pushing brooms and emptying trash cans. So, I get back in bed thinking this will stop at any time. Nope. Keeps going so I get back up and go out on the balcony to try to hear what the speaker voice is saying but I can't understand what's being said. People are still just slowly moving around though so I assume there is no reason to be concerned. This goes on for 2 hours! I fall asleep and then am woken up again at about 6am as the airport opens back up. The opening procedures include lots of noise as they open up the concourse. So, I am back up (light sleeper is putting it mildly)...My dh slept through it all
We go to check out and the guy asks how our night was...so I tell him about my night and that we are back there in 5 days and I do not want a room where I can hear all the crazy stuff going on at night. He says he will go ahead and upgrade us to a room that looks out onto the runway, and assures me it will be much quieter. Sure enough, we arrive 5 days later and are given a 10th floor (top floor) runway-facing room. SO FUN! We facetimed our kids from there cause our youngest loves all vehicles and we could see the tram, planes, buses (including disney) and luggage carriers. It's pretty much his dream! And add to that...NASA shot off a rocket while we were there! So we got pics of that!
Not a huge fan of the standard room but loved the runway room!
ETA: Upon checking back in, the lady says that apparently, it was an airport drill that went on all that first night and that should not have happened. Either way, I told her I'd never stay in one of the interior rooms again.
