I love credit cards so much!

I have been wondering about this. Do you plan to app on the 1st day of the month after your card falls off?
For example, if you got a card in 5/2016, you will app on 6/1/18?

Is 5/24 by month or by day? I've seen DPs both ways. I think it's best to wait until the 1st day of the following month after your 24-month old card is supposed to drop off. Why risk wasting a hard pull and being denied for 5/24?

I'll probably do it closer to the middle of the month as I'll be out of town first of the month.

Editing: My card falls off in June and I intend to apply in July - first for a Chase business card. By the time I get around to applying for another Chase personal, I'll be 3/24.

Called Amex about my SPG personal AF due this month. First CSR not helpful at all. Transferred me to Customer Retention or some such. After 10 minutes of the account manager trying to convince me that spending $ on my Amex won’t really accrue fewer points after August 1, and that I still have until August to accrue at the higher rate :sad2: he offered me $75 statement credit for 2k spend.

I have yet to put any spend on my SPG personal and I’m thinking of applying for two CICs (or CIC+CIU) this month!

I know if it ever came down to it, I could sadly knock out the MSRs on any of these three cards with one Plastiq payment.

You mentioned this previously when I posted about applying for the CIC, but our plans ARE nearly identical ha. Apart from the CIP and Marriott Biz, and to an extent my CapOne Spark in late March (equated to your MB Plat), we're again on the same track. Planning to apply for the CIC tonight for myself and probably DH next week (two CICs), and I have yet to put a dime on DH's SPG personal yet either :rotfl:

Good luck! Fingers crossed for you!

You should demand Starpoints for all the spending power you're going to lose on that card if you keep using it for another year!

@hsmamato2 - I agree with @Jen and Ashwin and call the company to say it wasn’t received. I’ve been stocking up on lightweight, travel friendly clothes for my trip next week. That’s how I’m working on the Freedom 5x. I’m using PayPal to pay for it. The clothing catalog store I like is a bit pricey too but I love the clothes!
I did call, they told me I had to ask to USPS to find it first. Since USPS is really unhelpful,I'm calling back tomorrow. I've ordered quite a few things in the past couple of months from them, and I really hope they step up. I'm not happy to waste almost $100 for nothing.

Ouch. Thanks for reminding me. I'm not calling about the annual fee but about the free night. I won't get one until next March. Looks like my daughter will get hers in August on one of her SPG cards. Now I've got to haunt @calypso726 's post on this. Should have copied and pasted.....off to search for it.....

He was trying to convince me I would not be making less. I said right now I’m making the equivalent of 3 Marriott points for every dollar spent, after August it will be 2. Then he would say, you’re not actually earning 3 Marriott points but after August, it won’t be Marriott points plus some of the redemptions are going down. Like minus 1k, minus 5k, so you’ll have more spending power. BS. But I finally gave up, which is probably what he wanted.

Ugh..not sure if you called USPS or went to your local PO. My PO can actually see where the package was when it was scanned as delivered, maybe if you go in yours can as well. I once had a package scanned delivered, turned out it was still in the PO truck.

Aggh! Paid roofing company thru Plastiq with CIP. Just got an email from Plastiq saying it is under review. Are construction companies not something I can pay with Plastic?

You’ll be fine. Construction companies/contractors are not restricted categories on Visas (or any other card). Just submit an invoice, quote/estimate, or even email from the company you’re trying to pay that shows what you’re trying to make a payment for.

Is this your first time using Plastiq? Or a new card? That could be it. Plastiq occasionally/randomly picks payments for review. (But I’ve used the service for over a year for all kinds of payments and it’s only happened once to me.)

New Card but used before with 2 other cards.

Could be the name of the Recipient too. I think Plastiq does these random reviews to make sure you’re not making a p2p payment to your brother or something, or in a restricted category.

ETA: When I had a payment held for review, I emailed back an invoice with a short explanation and Plastiq cleared the payment 2 hours later.

I emailed the invoice back within an hour. I hope they are quick, I’m sure the contractor doesn’t want to wait even longer for his payment

What are the amex rules for applying? How many days between apps and such?

On the go, but basically 1 credit card approval in a rolling 5 day period; limit 2 credit card approvals in 90 days (2/90); limit 4-5 credit cards open at a time.

Limits do not apply to Amex charge cards (Green, Gold, Platinum and biz versions). So you can even mix a few charge card apps in with a credit card app for an app-o-rama to combine pull.

What Amex card(s) are you looking at?

Yeah, I think I'm going to just set up my SPG personal to pay my next 2 months rent on Plastiq and be done with it. That will more than meet the MSR on time, and I won't have to think about it. I hate paying the fee, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

This is exactly how I am meeting my spg biz and personal MSR's. So, far it's working nicely. I don't like paying the fee but I like not worrying about it.
