It has been a long time coming. This time last year we couldn't stand each other. :p It took her going off to college for her to appreciate us and realize everything we do is because we love her. You know...that pesky parenting. lol

Sorry but I am am not good at quoting pieces of quotes.
It was like that with my youngest. We spent years together with the horses and traveling every weekend for horse shows. Later, I think she felt a need to establish her independence (those years got a little ugly). That changed when she left for college. Her college was only 3 hours away so she came home many weekends to help on the farm. When she wasn't home she called EVERY day/night to talk. We missed talking 2 days that first year and that was when I was on my first Disney trip with her Down Syndrome sister. She now lives across the road in the original farm house. In this very mobile society I love having my children close. I love that my DGD who is now 5 is safe to go back and forth and I can see her most days.

The Bahama/Exuma. We couldnt generate a SW flight there. tried to reposition using SW but they fly to only Fort Lauderdale from the DC area(on business trip). all LLC were out of miami. It was also a time issue too...
2nd trip was to hawaii. SW... not yet... lol. shes using KE for that now.
Oh, I got it now. It was more of a problem finding ways to get where she wanted to go. I thought flights were costing more than 130K!

I've got a few pages to catch up on to get current on this thread, but I wanted to thank those who made the suggestion to SM Chase to confirm the details of a new sign-up offer and the deadline for meeting MSR. We received my husband's CIP yesterday, and even though I plan to meet MSR way before the deadline by paying off the balance due on a summer trip, I really like having confirmation from Chase in writing that the sign-up offer associated with the card is 80k UR.

Thanks to everyone that replied! I can't believe that I didn't know about the Chase cruise department. This is a game changer!

Hello disneybirds,

I actually booked dining and room through chase's cruise and tour department. What chase will do while you are on the phone with them is they will call Disney and book what you see on Disney's site. Chase's cruise and tour department is basically a travel agent and can book almost anything you want. Some people have spoke to Melissa or leon x8179 both were very helpful. The cruise and tour department is 855-234-2542. just don't forget to ask for that department.

good luck hope this helps!!

Thanks for the info! Can you book rooms that show up on the Disney website that aren't on the Chase portal? That would be awesome!

Are you a member of our Reddit group? There is a section there about churning for Disney that will help you. You need to call the cruise and tours department. Anything you can book with Disney, you can also book with them. Dining and tickets included.

As for the cards, do not cancel the CSP, downgrade it to the CF or CFU, whichever you will get the most use out of. The CIP for your husband sounds like a good idea.

Why downgrade the CSP? I know that I keep the history (signed up in 2013), but I will lose out on the sign up bonus. If I am not worried about a 5/24 spot, what else should I consider? Need to give this some more thought.
I just signed up for Reddit. Same user name. I would love to be added.

I’ve never gotten one of these not has DH. Wonder if we ever will.

You can call ur tours line and ask to add the dining plan. Just remember it has to be for everyone on the reservation and for the entire reservation. (I break our reservations up so I can add dining some nights and no dining other nights.).
Also recommended the CIP for your DH then have him refer you for the CIP.

Thank you! He doesn't have any Chase cards, so this might be his first!

Yes you can book whatever you see on Disney’s site but you have to call the cruise and tour department to book them. Not everything shows up going through the portal. Once on the phone you tell the agent what you see and they call Disney while on hold with you and book what you see. Pretty easy. It took me about 15 minutes and I was done. Good luck!

I recently booked a room at BCV through Cruise and Tour that was not showing up on the Chase Portal. As long as the room you want shows up on the Disney website, Chase can get it for you.

The Dischurners Reddit page has my update about booking with Cruise and Tour! I only booked a room at this time and just paid cash for it, but it was a very easy process.

For those who have Chase business and personal accounts do you have one online account or two? I just got the CIP, how do I either open a separate online account or merge it with my personal one? I've had a personal online account with Chase for so long I don't remember if I had to initiate it or wait for them.

The Freedom card is 15k, or 30k if ur targetted. it isnt worth much. A HP isnt worth 15k imo.

I did 2 separate because the business site was awful. They made some changes now so it is better, but still not as easy as the personal site:

Has anyone heard any more about this? I've read that it's targeted and I've also read people are thinking it might be anyone who has CSR, CSP, CF and CFU. I'd like to think DH and I could make a few extra points with this promotion.

I didn't realize it was targeted until I saw it here. I got it and only have a CF and CSR. Mine was for using my CSR for Apple Pay.

I got used to Apple Pay with the Freedom last quarter. During the middle of that I added my FU. I am thinking that could be the reason i was targeted? DH was not targeted at all and he has the Reserve (as do I). If you are interested maybe secure message them like @Albort said and then also add the cards to your wallet. Maybe they will send out another round of targeted emails?!?

I agree that the Chase cruise department is a "game changer." My February trip was booked on straight UR rewards and it worked awesome.

You downgrade the CSP for Freedom or Freedom Unlimited as it will give you additional chances to earn UR awards. Once you do that you will be eligible to get the Reserve for either yourself or husband. Reserve is needed to maximize your UR points for the rewards.

DH has his combined, and I decided to keep mine separate. I do think the business site is bad, but one advantage of combined is that you can bring it up on the app and have all your accounts together.

heh, i must have been so used to the old design, i hate the new one. haha.
@eeyoresmom i have mine combined.

Pretty much anything you could book direct with a travel agent, you can book with with the Cruise and Tour department. I booked my upcoming Royal Caribbean cruise using 53k UR points ($800). They were able to match the offer direct from RC plus they honored my RC Diamond Member benefits, which included a member special pricing for suite rooms and on board credit. It was really easy.

I think its more that i dislike SW points over SW themselves. i rather earn UR than SW. maybe i understood it incorrectly with @SouthFayetteFan haha. my thoughts is that he would rather earn SW points before UR.
SW Points are my first churning love. They are one of the easiest points to earn with reasonable MSRs when compared to the bigtime UR cards. The flexibility of booking and cancelling allows you to hold flights while you make travel decisions. And of course the value of the CP is amazing. For those with families of 4+ flights are a huge piece of the puzzle. I need 1 hotel room but 4 plane tickets. That’s why SW is my #1 Point currency :D

You will likely get conflicting advice on CF and CFU. I’m in the camp that they can be worth a 5/24 slot if they fit your plans. If you downgrade your CSP to a CFU...you could still apply for a CF. I think whether you use a 5/24 slot on one or both of those cards is a personal decision that you would want to research/consider.

You need two if you want to be able to use Chase Pay. I learned this the very hard way -- took days of calls to Chase to get mine separated.

I am a little annoyed with myself right now. I went to riteaid to pick up a few things. The cashier asked me if I wanted to use my points. I thought she meant Plenti points. I pressed YES without reading. I used 2,051 AMEX points to pay for a $14 and change purchase.

Is there a way to set my Amex account so I cannot use points for everyday purchases?

Just finished looking up all our info in detail. Trying to decide what comes next for us both. We will have tuition due for DDs summer courses soon, plus fall semester is just around the corner, so those are 2 big charges that will help meet MSRs.

I am waffling on the CP for me. Mine exp'd 12/17. I could get one now if I cancel/reopen my SWPr and do a SW biz card. Or I could wait b/c I can churn my plus in late July with a Biz or Premier. I am a bit nervous to try for a Biz soon since I just got a CIP in Jan. That has me leaning towards waiting for late 2018 so my points/CP hit in 2019 and I don't have to churn my premier. I have had it since early 2012 so it is only of my older cards.

DH will need to go for the CP for 2019 again as well. His expires 12/18.

All this talk of SPG going away makes me consider a personal to top off my points I am working on with the biz.

I always love URs, of course. Can never have too many of those.

Here is where we are:

ME: 2/24 until late may then 1/24

CF 7/2008

Citi TY 5/2010
Disney Visa 9/2010
Citi Costco 10/2011
SWPr 3/2012
Care Credit 4/2012 (haven't used since then)
CFU 3/2016 (closed- stupid....pre churning...sigh)
SWPl 5/2016 (closed)
CSP 6/2017..........PC in June???? CF or CFU???
CIP 1/2018
SPG Biz 3/2018

DH: 2/24 until 6/2019

Amex Everyday 2008
Citi TYP 2010
CSR 2/2016
SWPr 6/2017
SWPl 9/2017

So we are both fairly wide open. I am considering referring DH to the CIP. Also thinking about the CF/CFU referral thing we discussed last week. He has almost renewed hilton diamond for the year. Need 10 more stays, so probably 6 weeks. After that we will switch him over to Marriotts/Starwoods I think to get some points/status accruing/diversifying. So maybe I should have him do a SPG of some sort. Or he could just charge to my SPG account. He is the one traveling all the time though, so he'd like status. Main thing is just keeping him open for the CP in 12/18.

Any suggestions?

Wow - that’s some great detail you provided :) I think all of what you discussed sounds good - probably just depends on figuring out which benefits you most. CIP referral is a great plan - SW CP is good especially if you have good use for it later this year. SPG is probably not a bad choice and some CF/CFU back and forth referrals is an easy way to generate some URs with easy to hit min spends. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. You probably can’t go wrong, haha!
