I love credit cards so much!

Mine is safe, thank goodness. I prefer it to Costco as it is much less of a madhouse and I adore scanning/checkout on the app.

They did give employees 60 paid days and severance on top of that if still unemployed after 60 days. Not bad.

I wouldn't give Walmart too much credit for complying with the law. Under the WARN Act, Sam's Club had to give its employees 60 days advance notice of a mass layoff like this. Sounds like they didn't, so they would've had to pay those 60 days wages anyway.

And yes, Costco is always a madhouse!

Our Costco is controlled chaos except maybe Saturday am, then just chaos. Lines always move super fast but the parking lot is a zoo. My sister has it down. She arrives around 9:50 (open at 10) on a weekday, they always open the doors about 5 minutes early. She zips in, gets what she needs, then out by 10:20.

I would be scared to enter Sams as Walmart here is the worst place I've ever been.

I had the Chase Ink Plus Business card and I recently downgraded it to the Chase Ink Cash (I believe). I'm assuming that I wouldn't have a referral link that I could send to DH to apply? If not, I'll be sure to use one from the reddit thread!

Thanks!

I think this is true -- which is why I think I should buy my Gift of College cards at Toys R Us rather than the grocery store. I think more people spend $500 at TRU than the grocery store. Also, I'm pretty sure the blog I was reading concerned thousands of dollars in Visa gift cards, so not vet or dentist bills or airline tickets. Still, I think it's probably a good idea to start with small purchases when possible/practicable.

Did I miss something? Are GOC cards sold at grocery stores????

I don't condone what Walmart/Sam's has done but I have just gotten to where I absolutely dread going to Costco. I have to psyche myself up for it. We have been Costco members for 12 years and in the last two years, it's just utter chaos and a total madhouse. You can hardly push a cart around the store and it takes 20-30 mins to check out (and close to that to even find a parking spot in the Costco lot).

We fill some of our dd17's prescriptions there because we have to pay OOP since our insurance won't cover and just picking those up can easily take 20 mins (these are meds that are ready). I stood in line last month for 30 mins and I noticed this older lady who kept standing off to the side and occasionally she'd walk up and check on her prescriptions. She commented to me on how good my boys were waiting and we started talking. She told me that she had dropped her prescriptions off TWO HOURS earlier...went and got her eyes checked and shopped...and they still were not ready. Seriously!

Our Costco is so busy. It's like Disney lol...just too busy to where they need to start limiting the amount of people who can enter...We will still keep our Costco cause there are some things I need that I cannot get at Sam's but we went to Sam's last Saturday and it was a breath of fresh air. So, I'll be there too. And I definitely like buying my Disney GC's online, at a discount, and paying with my SB's earned GC's with no hassle :)

Just curious how long you had the CIP before you moved to the CIC?

I wouldn't think you'd still have a valid link. That happened to me. I downgraded my CSP and then a friend wanted to open one using my referral :(

I had it for a year, I downgraded when I had the annual fee post to my account. They took the entire annual fee off when I downgraded.

If you generated a link in the past month or so it might still credit through to your card. If you don't have a link you probably won't be able to generate one anymore.

Best Buy! And they sell gas cards. Plus you get Best Buy rewards.

I will remember that if I need to top off at the end of the quarter. Thanks! I think I will come close to the max with just my internet/phone/cable auto billing for the 3 months, plus I will have some Walmart shopping online with chase pay and gas.

That reminds me. After I took the survey, I found out someone had given me love and then yesterday I gave some love as well. So add 1 to each category to and from me as well.

me too...used one after taking the survey.

Our Sams and Walmart are pretty quiet as most people around here wouldn't dare be seen in there, lol.

Sounds like my Costco. I can't even handle it unless there is something I just really need from there. I like to browse their seasonal stuff every so often...furniture in July and Jan, Plants in spring, and Gifts in the fall. I definitely don't go in regularly anymore. I can't figure why they don't just build another store.

Are you using the app in Sams to scan your items yourself and skip the checkouts. It is amazing. I also often order online and they have my order pulled and ready. I can just grab it from the service desk and run. I get shop thru chase points for those orders too. whoop whoop! I can't fault a company for closing down stores. Everything is going to online anyways.

Wow! That sounds like Walmart here. Crazy, unorganized. I can find a parking spot at Walmart if I park at the far end which is probably safe since people double park in the handicapped spots and drive like fools.
The Costco nearest my house is busy, the parking lot is too small and usually pretty full but inside it's never clog the aisles full. The Costco near where I work is never as busy, except gas (they do undercut everyone nearby) The gas lines are to the street, and sometimes onto the street. Inside the lines are usually no more than 1-2 people long.

You definitely need another Costco nearby.

Note to self: re-evaluate Costco stock...

Well, my super thorough evaluation of Costco stock is done & apparently location, location, location. Who knew?! Not all Costcos are created equally packed with people plowing each other down for more rolls, chickens & toilet paper than we ever thought one family could consume, bummer! Next stock!!

Still catching up but wanted to mention CNBC is claiming 63 Sam's clubs will be closing. Wikipedia says there approx 600 locations so about 1 out of 10 will close it sounds like? I don't Sam's but I wanted to heads up to those who do this is not the end of closures.

Sure...he got his CIP (as a sole prop, with only SS) 11/16/17. We just applied for the CIC (as an S-Corp with TIN & SS) on 1/9.
GAHHH!!! Well, I'm glad you got it- don't get me wrong! I'm just so frustrated with whoever screwed up my family member's review. I know the banker submitted it right because she did their CIP app. My fam member never even received a letter stating why they were denied, Chase has made a complete mess out of it. Knowing you got a CIC less than 2 months after the CIP tells me there is HOPE! No new rules, nothing changed at least! (Their banker submitted a recon request today. Fingers crossed.) Thanks!!
