I love credit cards so much!

I was wondering if I could do that. You are saying keep it until the Dec statement has dropped, use the travel credit and then PC it? Has there been any chatter about if we will get our travel credit again on our anniversary date?
Yep! And no. You applied prior to the end of May (right?) so your travel credit cycles at the close of your Dec stmt each year.

Caveat: Keeping it until Dec really depends on when you applied, I screwed up assuming you applied after Dec (I'm tired- sorry). If you already double dipped PC ASAP and you might get a pro-rated refund of the AF...

Last time I tried paying my mortgage with the CIP, it only coded 1x. Is it worth trying again? Which utilities code 3x for you?

I remember your small test payment coded for 3x, but your big payment earned just 1x. My last month's rent, which was scheduled as a recurring payment, coded for 1x; so I removed all future scheduled payments and planned to use my Amex PRG, which has a bonus spend offer that expires at the end of September. But I was still seeing DPs on the churning subreddit reporting that their rent and mortgage payments were earning 3x. You can search the churning subreddit's DPs weekly thread for the last several weeks (Ctrl or Command + F "Plastiq"), and it seems every DP involving rent or mortgage payments using CIP+Plastiq reported earning 3x. So I gave it a try with just one payment, scheduled for next day, and it ended up coding 3x.

Again, YMMV and you know about Plastiq's crackdown on using Visas to pay mortgages. But a lot of DPs still seem to be able to use their CIPs to pay their mortgages. Check Reddit's weekly DPs threads, and if you're comfortable with what you see, try it again! You'll probably also notice people reporting their car payments and student loans coding as 3x, so those are other possible expenses to move to Plastiq.

Then there's Tio .com, which allows you to use a credit card to pay a list of mortgage companies. Using CIP supposedly codes for 3x. Tio's fees are higher than Plastiq's, though. (FYI Tio was recently acquired by PayPal.)

Lastly, our electricity provider is PG&E. If I pay my electric bill directly on the pge website using CIP, it codes for 1x. But if I pay using CIP through Plastiq, I earn 3x. *shrug*

For anyone watching for Barclay Aviator (AA) Reddit is reporting the sign-up bonus has increased to 60k!
ETA: if you applied in the last 30 days Reddit has a report Barclaycard might match your 50K offer to 60K- send a SM and try if you're in that position!

...Did I sign up back when it was 40K? Yes. Yes I did. Now 40K AA are probably like 10K UR but still... With everything going down today with Chase I want to share a thought: none of us are going to nail this stuff perfectly! Take your lesson learned (if there even is one, I'm not convinced hit hard, hit fast is a good lesson...) and move on to your next CC target everyone!

I got the CSR at the end of Sept 2016 so I have already double dipped :) I was hoping that maybe we'd get another travel credit on our anniv. Are we allowed to PC that card prior to 1 year? I'd like to get a CFU.

Sounds like a bad idea unless ur willing to pay for the points.
$100 bill- earns u 100 points via CIP directly.
$100 bill - earns u 307.50 points via plastiq. ur fee for this transaction is $2.50. to cover the lose, u redeem 250 points to offset your fee. net gain of 57.5 pts.
$100 bill - earns u 150 points via cfu directly.

of course if u just want points, by all means. :]

That is 60k points with ONE purchase plus paying AF! I'm in, was going to be my next card anyway. However I just applied for Chase Hyatt and got the 30 day message, which I'm sure is because Chase needs to rearrange some credit lines (I'm way over half of total income, not sure how they approved all of it).
So does anyone know if I can apply for the Barclay Aviator when I just applied for a Chase card? Do they have a 30 day rule or anything similar?

I'm bummed because this is the AA card I already have, it was changed from US Air after the merger. I'm debating between Citi AA and BofA Alaska but this would have been perfect.

PG&E charges a flat $1.35 convenience fee when paying by credit card. Most months, the math works out in favor of Plastiq's 2.5% fee if I can earn 3x points on the bill.

@Lain Thanks for your response! After we get back from our trip, I'm going to try the CIP for my mortgage again. I'll look into our utilities also. I've already got our cellphone, internet and landline on the CIP. I don't think we can pay our gas & electric bill with a CC but it's been awhile since I looked or maybe the fee turned me off.

That is great that it is coding 3x on your student loans. We paid ours off already but it would have been a nice way to accrue points.

I was coming to ask the same thing!

Strategy help! I saw in an earlier part of the thread that business cards don't count against 5/24. Can somebody give insight on whether I might get an approval with the following lineup:
5/16--SW Business
Between 4/17-6/17-- Barclay +, Capitol One Venture, Marriott Business, SW preferred and SW Business and CSP

If so, should I go for an Ink Business (I own a business, so that's no problem) or a CSR? After this card, should I be approved, we will both be out of the Chase running until late 2019, and I would love to bank more UR. To note: my husband does NOT like to use business cards for everyday spending, so we probably wouldn't use the card after the initial spend. I currently use the CSP for all regular spend, so I'm at least getting decent rewards, but I'd love to get more. I'm banking these points for future use, not for an immediate redemption. Current UR balance is 89K

Second question--I'd like to dump some cards. Does anybody know if you loose miles if you dump the following (also-- is CP the correct term for closing a card? I'm still learning the lingo!)
Southwest: business and personal. We both have two cards, but I'm wondering if we can cancel all, or should we keep one and move all the miles there?

Starwood-- we each have personal, I also have biz. Should we keep one open, or can we dump all of them? Mom planning to use points for WDW stays in 2018

I also have a Marriott, which I plan to keep and transfer any remaining starpoints to.

this is so cool! I found it on the site with random dates...too bad I can't go then! I saw Pop in Mid September for 2A 2 kids for 150 per night with half board.....what a deal!
Did you click all the way through to see final total? When I did that, it showed $127/night with a "free" rental car and half-board, but when you clicked through, there were $127 in Orbitz taxes. I guess I was hoping the DP would truly be "free"-- haha.

For SW, it doesn't matter if you close the cards since the points are in your SW RR account not with Chase. DH and I both closed ours shortly after opening and receiving the bonus. It also has no impact on CP. Again, that is tied to your SW RR account not Chase.

I got my CSR last Sept or Oct and PC to the FU a couple of weeks ago. I even got a $75 credit (I'm guessing for a partial AF rebate). Best card I never kept ever...2 $300 travel credits, $100 GE credit and $75 rebate plus 100,000 UR. No wonder Chase is cracking down!

Sorry but under the new rules no CSR for you, you already have a CSP so you'd be immediately denied.

Can someone point me in the right direction before I continue with my plans.

Disney European Cruise in May 2019, finger crossed they keep May sailings in Europe. Plan is to fly United, we would need at least 240,000 miles to fly economy round trip. Would like to fly economy there and business return, we would need 400,000.
DH has 115,000 UR.
I have 70,000 United miles.
Plan is to continue getting UR bonus and also the MPE for DH.

Would DH & I be able to combine United miles? If not we would just need to book separate flights.

24 month rule was for the exact same card, now it's for the exact card and also the Sapphire Family (can't get CSP + CSR bonus now). Send Freedom points to CSP/CSR accts because they're worth 1.25x/1.5x min in redemption value and can be transferred to travel partners and can still be redeemed for cash if worst comes to worst at the same rate as Freedom points. Chase has sent surveys asking people how they'd feel about Chase stopping points transfers so that's why we move points asap.
got it- thank you. I'm assuming all this probably has to do with CSR anniversary dates coming up fast....now we will have to seriously think and choose which cards to keep.... I was gonna blithely cancel my csp but now I'm not so sure....since I'm grandfathered in and all. So I can't get another till Jan 2019. I've always put all my points in whatever basket was most lucrative anyway,it's too hard to keep track of and use them all in different accts.
